A former UCLA lecturer who threatened to carry out a mass shooting at the school was arrested in Colorado on Tuesday morning, a day after posting 300 threatening YouTube videos and warning in emails to the school's faculty 'da war is coming'. Matthew Harris sent the expletive-ridden email to UCLA's philosophy department, and linked to videos depicting previous mass shootings including Columbine and Las Vegas, and an 800-page manifesto. Video obtained by DailyMail.com shows the 31-year-old being handcuffed and led out of a building on the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Comments:

Wow. There is a link to his manifesto out there.

Sounds about like your run of the mill California college philosophy prof these days. One of his short "comments" was saying he was a pedophile, repeated twice. Next week CNN will probably offer him a show.

Good thing the current president, VP Harris and allll of the combined forces of Congress and National Security were focused like a laser on "People like Him". Since the motive was not even mentioned in the lede, it seems safe to assume (at least for the time being) that he is on the Left. It would have been in the headline AND lede if he were on the Right... Same with noticing the total absence of racial reference in the first 5 lines and figuring that probably implies the POS is a POC.

"The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is withdrawing the vaccination and testing emergency temporary standard issued on Nov. 5, 2021, to protect unvaccinated employees of large employers with 100 or more employees from workplace exposure to coronavirus," the agency wrote in a release, noting the withdrawal is effective Wednesday.

Sometimes you want to hear from the strategists rather than the candidate. With all due respect to Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin — who, for a first-timer from the world of high finance, proved to be remarkably disciplined on the stump (few verbal missteps) and surprisingly motivational to Republicans (record turnout) — he's not all that interesting. What is interesting is how he won. How did his campaign win a state by two points one year after his party lost it by 10 points? How did his strategists view Fox News and Twitter, where a funhouse mirror version of the race often played out?

Democrats and Republicans are right to blame each other for the fall of Kabul. It’s a loss for America’s bipartisan foreign policy establishment as a whole. For nearly two decades Washington sent thousands of Americans to their deaths and spent trillions of taxpayer dollars to wage a strategically pointless war. And because both sides of the political divide should be held accountable, military as well as civilian officials, too, it is unlikely that anyone ever will be. Since everyone is to blame, holding anyone accountable implicates everyone.

Republican President Donald Trump has a slight lead over Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in a tracking poll of Ohio likely voters following the national conventions. The state is predictably split with rural voters backing Trump and urban voters backing Biden in the latest figures released Monday by Morning Consult. It is another marker that shows a competitive race in Ohio, which Trump won in 2016 by 8 percentage points. Morning Consult polls daily and uses a 10-day rolling average for state-level head-to-head presidential race results.

Generally speaking, I am not a fan of polls. For one, I’ve never been polled by anyone. For another, the number of people being polled often strikes me as too small a sample from which to draw broad conclusions. Also, those samples more often than not tend to oversample one group, Democrats, let’s say, over another group, which again leads to questions of accuracy. Bottom line, I don’t trust ‘em and tend to ignore them in preference to the only poll that actually counts, the election itself. I’ve often asked myself, what would I do if I were to be contacted to participate in a poll.
