Democrats and Republicans are right to blame each other for the fall of Kabul. It’s a loss for America’s bipartisan foreign policy establishment as a whole. For nearly two decades Washington sent thousands of Americans to their deaths and spent trillions of taxpayer dollars to wage a strategically pointless war. And because both sides of the political divide should be held accountable, military as well as civilian officials, too, it is unlikely that anyone ever will be. Since everyone is to blame, holding anyone accountable implicates everyone.

So, while we spend our time and resources arguing which lives matter most, or explaining why Bobby has two moms, the tribes of Afganistán patiently wait to clean our clocks. And, to make matters worse, we helped them along. Pogo was right: “We have met the enemy, and he is us”.

And the defense contractors/lobbyists, to name of few - Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics, await purchase orders from the Pentagon. Playing footsie with each other.

The simple reason the we lost the war in Afghanistan is that is was not in the Democrats interest to allow America to win the war. Given their complete control of government, media, and now, the military, they got what was in their best interest. Anytime anyone got close to success in Afghanistan, the international progressive propaganda machine would start in with the "civilian deaths" meme to bring progress to a screeching halt. The simply couldn't permit a Republican President to accrue a military victory, and hence, a political victory. When the Democrats were in office, they ran the whole thing in status quo maintenance mode to keep the donations flowing from the defense sector and spend their time and discretionary money on social "justice." We lost because it was good for Democrats for us to loose.

Most effective read yet. Perfect explanation of events before us. Minorites are just that minorities. A gaggle of minorities added together with different desires does not make a majority. You can't be white then ignore the whites to be in the elite club. We are viewing that phenomena now. Look at Romney, General Milley along with many others destroying everything just to be in the 'club'. It is a truth ferreting out whites in the military is a mistake it takes a stupid general to not see that. Combat is real so see who performs before you separate them out. Everyone one should read this article and learn from it.

He also said it’s possible people will need to get vaccinated against the virus annually. “It is extremely important to suppress the pool of people that can be susceptible to the virus,” he told CNBC’s Bertha Coombs during an event with CVS Health. He added the vaccines will be an important tool in the fight against highly contagious variants.

Republican President Donald Trump has a slight lead over Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in a tracking poll of Ohio likely voters following the national conventions. The state is predictably split with rural voters backing Trump and urban voters backing Biden in the latest figures released Monday by Morning Consult. It is another marker that shows a competitive race in Ohio, which Trump won in 2016 by 8 percentage points. Morning Consult polls daily and uses a 10-day rolling average for state-level head-to-head presidential race results.

The gun Patricia McCloskey waved at protesters was inoperable when it arrived at the St. Louis police crime lab, but a member of Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner's staff ordered crime lab experts to disassemble and reassemble it and wrote that it was “readily capable of lethal use” in charging documents filed Monday, 5 On Your Side has learned. In Missouri, police and prosecutors must prove that a weapon is “readily” capable of lethal use when it is used in the type of crime with which the McCloskeys have been charged.

In 93% of those cases, the hidden funding came from a Chinese institution. The new numbers come from Michael Lauer, NIH’s head of extramural research. Lauer had previously provided some information on the scope of NIH’s investigation, which had targeted 189 scientists at 87 institutions.

I understand that the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division has told the commander of the British special forces at the Kabul airport to cease operations beyond the airport perimeter. Maj. Gen. Christopher Donahue has told his British Army counterpart, a high-ranking field-grade officer of the British army's 22nd Special Air Service Regiment, that British operations were embarrassing the United States military in the absence of similar U.S. military operations. I understand that the British officer firmly rejected the request.

The Biden administration on Thursday struggled to speed up evacuations of as many as 80,000 Americans and Afghan allies — with the suddenly pressing effort being marred by obstacles ranging from red tape and visa paperwork problems to massive crowds and often violent Taliban checkpoints that barred entry.Even American citizens with valid passports fear making the perilous journey to the airport for fear of the armed Taliban fighters who surround the Kabul airport.David Marshall Fox, an American who moved to Afghanistan in 2013, told The Post on Thursday that he’s abandoned hope of getting onto an evacuation flight, saying the danger of his young son getting shot

Jim Geraghty’s written two posts today making the case that something is up. I’m not sold on his first post. His second is more persuasive. The first post argues that Biden’s chat with George Stephanopoulos was filled with enough contradictions and awkward stammering that, paired with his low visibility lately, we might reasonably conclude that his health has become an issue. Whether you agree comes down to a gut check on how you felt about the interview. I didn’t see it as out of the ordinary for Biden. His answers were emphatically not good but he didn’t seem checked out to me. If anything, he was combative

Incredibly cynical and depressing. And quite possibly correct. “The public opinion is pretty damn clear that Americans wanted out of the ongoing war and don’t want to get back in. During the presidential campaign, the Biden administration introduced a new word into the lexicon: a “lid.” His campaign has called a lid countless times without explanation, meaning it was cutting off all media appearances for that day. Joe Biden went on vacation to Camp David just before Afghanistan fell to the Taliban and gave no public remarks on the matter until more than 24 hours after the fall of Kabul. That was a speech Biden delivered from the White House Monday, after which he took no questions from the media. He went silent again, then delivered another speech on Wednesday, this time on COVID. In the wake of the Afghanistan debacle, demands have arisen in Congress for President Biden to resign or to be removed via the 25th Amendment. Elements of the formerly pro-Biden media have joined in the condemnation. Many silent Democrat office holders likely want Biden out, as they fear the systemic incompetence of his administration will bring them down come 2022. But Joe can not resign or be fired. The Democrat high command will not let either happen (snip) As soon as Kamala Harris takes the presidential oath, the vice-presidency is left vacant.
