Penzeys Spices is in no danger of my ever making a purchase. Besides, they are closing their store to in-house purchases. If you can't poison grandma any other way, just push her down the stairs. That's Chicago for ya.

Never heard of this woketard or his company, but whatever he says. He's in no danger of losing any of my business anyway, since he was never going to get any of it. If we need spices, there's a whole aisle in the supermarket.

I began with Penzey’s long ago. Bill’s newsletters then were folksy and good-humored and the spices were good. He began to become political slowly and became offensive probably 10-15 years ago. His sister owns the Spice House. Excellent quality spices - there is a difference - and no politics. Sells on-line and only locally in Evanston area, I believe. Try them! Tip - keep them in the freezer and they stay fresh forever. Her brother is nuts.

Omicron could be even less deadly than flu, scientists believe in a boost to hopes that the worst of the pandemic is over. Some experts have always maintained that the coronavirus would eventually morph into a seasonal cold-like virus as the world develops immunity through vaccines and natural infection. But the emergence of the highly-mutated Omicron variant appears to have sped the process up. MailOnline analysis shows Covid killed one in 33 people who tested positive at the peak of the devastating second wave last January, compared to just one in 670 now. But experts believe the figure could be even lower because of Omicron.

Hospitalizations of U.S. children under 5 with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine. The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.

But perhaps the most ridiculous false claim from a Supreme Court justice came from Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who falsely claimed that 100,000 children are in “serious condition” from COVID. “We have hospitals that are almost at full capacity with people severely ill on ventilators.
