Spielberg’s ‘Woke Side Story’ Dives 68%
at Box Office in Week Two

Original Article

All hope for Steven Spielberg’s racially divisive West Side Story remake died in week two, plummeting 68 percent with a humiliating take of just $3.4 million. After ten days in release, which includes two weekends, this historic box office bomb has grossed just $17.9 million. The hope had been that word of mouth would give Woke Side box office legs. Sorry, nope. No legs. Just two little stumps.

Comments:

Just as predicted here at Lucianne this movie is being avoided at all costs. I love Nolte calling it. Woke Side Story

Why would anybody think that a remake of a classic like WSS — which even in the 1960s had a limited audience — would draw any significant audience in this day and age?

I do not like Spieberg movies from his first where a diesel semi truck chases a beat up Chrysler car (over heating, of course) driven by Dennis Weaver. His movies and actors give me the creeps.

Didn't like the original, so no interest in the "woke" version. An urban version of "Romeo and Juliet" didn't appeal to me then, and still doesn't.

A Missouri-based conservative political action committee has canceled a fundraiser featuring Donald Trump Jr. after a payment processor owned by the nation’s largest bank reportedly canceled its contract with the group, refunded $30,000 in ticket sales, then said it had made a mistake and reversed its decision. The Defense of Liberty PAC event was scheduled for December 3 in St. Charles, a suburb of St. Louis. The organization was expecting approximately 3,000 people to attend. An organizer said tickets ranged from $70 to $250 and included a $500 per person pre-event with Trump Jr.

Durham’s indictment of Sussmann lays out the foundation of a conspiracy.

It might be an instance of Hillary’s mouth running ahead of her brain, but don’t count on it. Hillary is a coldly calculating woman -- and that might be one of her better qualities. Hillary suggested that if Trump or “someone of his ilk” is elected president in 2024, then American democracy is kaput. Foolishness? Knowing the conceits and delusions that infect her intended audience, her suggestion might not seem ludicrous.

Two thousand years ago, a carpenter lived a conventional life for 30 years in a tiny village in the Middle East. Then he somehow became as they might say today, “radicalized.” Historians agree that Jesus did exist. There are reliable ancient records of him. But most of what we know are opaque and contradictory accounts written decades after his death in what we now call the Gospel of the New Testament. In one sense, those Gospel accounts are profoundly simple. They say Jesus was the Messiah prophesized in the Hebrew Bible. As such, he performed miracles to save those needing saving. He came back from the dead. That’s the word.
