A woman has been arrested by police probing the worst crash in the history of the Tour de France.
French radio network RTL revealed the woman was arrested this morning and is now being held in police custody in Landerneau, a small town in Brittany where the 122-mile first stage from Brest ended on Saturday.
It remains unclear if the woman handed herself in to police after prosecutors begged the public to help track her down. She is accused of involuntarily causing injury and faces a fine of 1,500 euros.

Her only mistake was not to include Black Lives Matter on her sign. Had she have done this she would have been hailed a worldwide hero and someone to be admired for being so woke

The tour de France hasn't seen this much drama since 1897.

The phrase 'Allez Opi Omi' has been showing up in dozens of internet stories. Hope she enjoyed her 2 seconds of fame.

The last entry in the bold text summary under the title reads: "This is an indictable offence in France punishable with up to a year in prison and a fine of just under £13,000."
She can easily be identified as the article includes a clear picture of her face. A claimed alibi defense of "It wasn't me" should fail.

The problem with our modern and “safe” age is more stupid people survive to adulthood that otherwise wouldn’t make it.

Well it and the rest of western civilization are soon to be gone. With no cohesive thought everything fragments. Another small portion just fragmented.

Being a self-centered, uncaring idiot, and substantially harming others with your stupidity and arrogance should have a cost.

Sadly, this isolated incident will probably result in one or two things :
A) Copycats with a "political message(s) " causing future disruptions....
B) Massive knee-jerk over-reaction by the Race authorities..."to make sure something like this never happens again "....meaning : fan access/viewing restrictions

I don’t think the message was intended for her grandparents. I think that she is the grandmother of one of the competitors. So it should be easy to ask the riders and find the one who is related to her.

My take on this is: yes, she's a dummy, but how did a dummy like her (and so many others) manage to get so close to the track? She caused the accident alright but only because the race security let people get so close to a narrow road FULL of bicyclists. If stupidity were a crime she'd be under arrest but then so would many others! The schmucks who run the Tour share in the responsibility.

Every location where the race is run allows spectators to stand right by the roadside within inches of the riders but in her case cluelessness had a lot to do with it. Some idiots even try to high-five their favorite riders. Try that at the Indianapolis 500.

She's getting away cheap. Fifteen hundred Euros wouldn't cover the cost of one of the wheels on those bikes. Each one of those bikes costs at least ten grand and more.

#13, I don't know about the EU, but in the US system a guilty establishes a basis for civil court, i.e. suing for damages. The fine is the literal tip of the iceberg.

Put her on an open road & have the Tour de France chase her down.

Putting her on the road as a target is the most disgusting thing mentioned. Nice to see what kind of people post on these threads. She was unthinking, but I don't believe it was purposeful. Please have some forgiveness in your hearts.

1500 Euros is just under $1800 in US dollars, doesn't seem like enough after the disruption she caused. Hopefully they can find more charges for this idiot. That smirk on her face is sickening.
