You Heard it Here First: The Old CNN Is Dead

Original Article

As a broadcast journalist, my goal was always to get my accurate story on the air first. Beating the other networks by even just a minute was a major victory when covering breaking news. It drove ratings and ratings are everything. So, let me give you an advantage in your political discussion group. Here is the headline for January 1, 2022: The old CNN is dead! (snip) It took time, but when CNN’s number of viewers dropped below the number of people listening to taxicab dispatchers in Hoboken, CNN’s owners knew it was time to cut their losses. They were lucky to unload that turkey around Thanksgiving.

Comments:

Ed Sherdlu is the pen name of a former CBS television network reporter. He uses a pen name because his mother would be so embarrassed to know that Ed's 12-Step Journalism Recovery Program had been a failure.

CNN has been dead for over 20 years as a source for News (regarding left-wing op-eds, ideological rants, and societal manipulation and propaganda CNN was a leader). The only thing that kept it going was its overseas dominance regarding American news and opinion (which again was BS). Ed has lost the meaning of the word "News" as it relates to new information or information with any value one did not previously have or know..

Back in the days of metal typesetting - - "etaoin shrdlu" represented the order of frequency of twelve most used letters in the English language. So - - the author's use of "Sherdlu" as a pen (or keyboard) name - - is a harkening back to those days of yore - - you know - - like thirty years ago.

The “old” CNN was the news channel that travelers put on in their hotel rooms to get a quick view of the latest headline news, rolling over about every 30 minutes. I know because I did it when I was traveling on business. A quick update.

At one time, as the writer points out CNN, was the go to station for real news. CNN is Ted Turner's legacy and at the moment it's a pretty rotten one. I really wonder what Turner thinks of it today.

FTA: "The young, oh-so-hip graduates of the oh-so-expensive journalism schools decided the real purpose of the evening news was to promote their left-wing political beliefs. When the networks started promoting anchors with no real reporting experience, simply because they were “perky...” Check the bios. Many of these are NOT graduates of j-school, but of the dramatic arts and beauty contests. They come ready-made to read the crap and emote along with their stories to help their audiences like a laugh track. They provide eye candy drawing viewers like cute, lovable Vanna White did for years. Americans are generally undiscerning saps. They see the images, hear the smooth voice, and believe...whatever is presented is truth. They do not understand, let alone believe, how much media is propaganda, to sell ideas and soap powder. Everything is designed by expert propagandists to manipulate behavior. It's not just CNN, MSNBC, etc. FOX is no different, just generally more agreeable to a certain viewpoint.

I hope Sherdlu's reporting is not a foreshadowing of how CNN is to change. Cronkite, Jennings and Brokaw, journalists? HA!! Maybe in the same way the Ukraine Genocide during Stalin's reign was journalism! I'll never forgive Cronkite's reporting on the Tet Offensive. And the other two were just as bad. That kind of journalism only meant no one was availabe to report on their lies. I hope and pray we'll have a network to report the facts and let us decide what it means.

CNN, under the old leadership, could have cared less about ratings. They made their money off subscriptions to the cable providers. Under Malone, that seems to be no longer the case. He will want to increase profits by getting more advertising revenues resulting from higher viewership. To do that, he has to clean house and hire MATURE reporters, but that is going to go nowhere. In order to keep costs down, CNN and all other news outlets get their news from one source--the New York Times! Until that ends, nothing will change.

#8 Hoorah!! Giving accolades to Cronkite, Rather, Jennings or others is a waste to mention those closet commie losers. I was in country during the war lucky to return home then viewed the news and what was reported especially by the droning voice of Cronkite was not what this twenty-year-old witnessed. We were winning the war Cronkite lied it was not lost. Rather was a young, embedded reporter lying to home audiences too. My parents believed the evening news, but I didn't I wrote them all off in the early '70s. Losing CNN or any others makes no difference to me because I never watched them.

Have lots of memories of CNN (Clinton News Network). One is their coverage of the death of JFK, Jr. The death of 3 people is tragic but their coverage was unreal. It was important but not as important as men landing on The Moon. In one scene a reporterette was standing on a beach with the Atlantic ocean in the background and screaming at the top of her voice: We have Breaking News. Authorities have still not found JFK, Jr. When you are looking for something and you don't find it that is not news. When you are looking for something and you find it that's when it becomes news. Not particularly happy with Fox News. In an attempt to be fair and balanced they hired Donna Brazile who adds nothing. I'll watch CNN when they give Hunter the same coverage they gave Donald Trump, Jr.

This writer says" "Walter Cronkite, Tom Brokaw and, particularly, Peter Jennings were real journalists." Proof that he is either a total idiot, or just another leftist blowing smoke. Cronkite, Brokaw and Jennings were leftist lying propagandists. They just hid it a slight bit better than they do now, but they were just as Commie as the current crop. So the author's credibility is ZERO.

Don't know about Brokaw or Jennings but Cronkite was a newspaper / radio reporter who covered WWII as a war correspondent. He was one of Edward R Murrow's 'Boys,' so I'll give Cronkite that much for 'cutting his journalistic teeth' on the front lines. But there was no doubt he was a liberal. His personal opinion on how the war in Vietnam was going (especially after the Tet Offensive) marked him as such.

Multiple Logical Fallacies Elevate COVID

Monday morning, as I did my morning bicycle ride (I live in a safe neighborhood), I listened to Breitbart News host Alex Marlowe interview John Nolte, another Breitbart personality about COVID vaccination hesitancy. By the end of the interview, they’d wandered through several logical fallacies that need to be exposed so people can accurately balance vaccines versus treatments. Marlowe and Nolte quoted data purporting to show that Washington state counties that Trump won have much higher COVID death rates than counties that Biden won. Vaccination rates are blamed for the difference.

In a social media feed yesterday, I came across a 1979 60 Minutes segment on the propaganda surrounding the 1976 swine flu scare. Many of us had already heard about how the event was reminiscent of today's COVID-19 con, but actually watching the segment drives home how striking the parallels between the two disease scares are. Exaggerations of the bugs' severity, media propaganda and fear-mongering, an effort to vaccinate the whole nation, serious vaccine-coincident side-effects, and an apparent government cover-up of the latter were all elements of the '76 fiasco just as they epitomize what's occurring today.

The CDC narrative on COVID is simply put: (1) the mask is your best defense, (2) COVID is a pandemic of the unvaccinated, and (3) vaccines are our only exit strategy. However, whenever their narrative falls apart, the emphasis shifts, cover-up lies become bolder, and dissenting science is censored. (snip) Though not reported in the media, the “mask is your best defense” isn’t settled science -- the WHO states that: “the use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality scientific evidence.” Despite exclusive pro-mask news, parents are protesting against governors and school boards mandating masking K-12 students.
