The Charlottesville, Va. city council on Tuesday unanimously approved a move for its now-infamous statue of Confederate leader Robert E. Lee to be melted down to create public artwork that will "reflect racial justice," The New York Times reported. The city council will give the statue to the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, which plans to melt the monument to create a new piece of public artwork, according to the measure. The city council selected the Jefferson School’s proposal “Swords Into Plowshares,” from other potential bidders for the statue, according to The Times. According to its Indiegogo campaign page, the Jefferson School plans to “transform a national symbol

Just wondering when “racial justice” will be achieved (never) and how long there will be special preferences and segregations available for certain minorities, such as schools, student centers, job quotas, political groups (forever)? And how many cultural sacrifices will be made to try to appease our overlords?

Same here #8. When I grew up in the Deep South we were forbidden to use the ‘N-word. In my family it was considered a word used by low class people. Now the word fits a big part of the black community. Over the years I have given donations to a local black history museum but never again. Melting down Lee’s statue is sure to stop the slaughter in the black community....or maybe not. Let’s seal off the ghettos, provide free ammo and let them have at it. It will be at least a boon to the black funeral homes.

So, what can we expect from the present generation (and their supporters) in place of some of the great remembrances of far greater substance than they can even dream of, Maybe a few stadiums for sword fights? Maybe a.few jewelry stores to plunder? Let us see or hear what you have in mind. O r maybe a GREAT BIG statue of your leader,George soros,

#6 No. He most certainly was not! Lee freed every slave he inherited before there was a Civil War. Lincoln respected the man enough to ask him to lead the Union Army, and Lee only declined because he was first a citizen of Virginal, a sovereign state that had left a union. Lee wrote that "slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil." The slaves he gave away would have been worth millions in today's dollars. How much of your personal wealth have you given away freely to end slavery? There are more slaves in the world today than when Lee was alive. To think he is "infamous" is either ignorance or hypocrisy.

I wonder if any of them know about "Project Plowshare" that used the exact same rationale to detonate atomic bombs in futile tests that were supposed to prove the weapons could be used for peaceful purposes - while contaminating every area one was detonated. Ancient Romans used to excise citizens by destroying statues, coins, and any other reminders of the outcast. But that was 2000 years ago. One would hope, 2000 years later, we would have a more sophisticated approach to history… but then we are dealing with the Charlottesville city council. During my sojourn in that town I passed that noble statue many times and lament the travesty of its destruction.

Hate crimes targeting Christians in Germany have nearly trebled in a year amid a wave of religious discrimination across Europe. From 2019 to 2020, the majority Christian nation saw a rise in attacks from 57 to 141. This included seven physical assaults against Christians for their beliefs, three thefts or robberies, one desecration of a grave and 24 verbal threats. Overall, hate crime in Germany rose by 19 per cent last year. The Vienna-based Observatory on Intolerance against Christians in Europe (OIDAC), which has compiled a report on anti-Christian hate crime in the continent, says the two main threats come from 'secular intolerance' and 'Islamic oppression'.

Prices spiked a whopping 6.8 percent in November, compared with the same time last year—the fastest acceleration of inflation the country has seen in 39 years, the feds announced Friday. It’s the highest year-over-year reading of the Labor Department’s Consumer Price Index, which measures a basket of goods and services as well as energy and food costs, since 1982, when the country saw surging inflation that sparked year-over-year spikes as high as more than 14 percent. That means inflation is now accelerating at the highest pace many Americans have ever seen in their lifetimes. November’s 6.8 percent spike from the same time last year

Hilaria Baldwin recently claimed on social media that her husband, Alec Baldwin, has been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for years. The mother-of-six spoke candidly on her Instagram Stories about social media trolls, tabloids, paparazzi, and how she's trying to speak her truth. "We oftentimes have people creating news stories about us. My husband is suffering from PTSD right now. It's not from what just happened recently, but he's been suffering from this for a very very very long time," she said on her Stories.

DAVIS, Calif. — Banana peels, chicken bones and leftover veggies won't have a place in California trashcans under the nation's largest mandatory residential food waste recycling program that's set to take effect in January. The effort is designed to keep landfills in the most populous U.S. state clear of food waste that damages the atmosphere as it decays. When food scraps and other organic materials break down they emit methane, a greenhouse gas more potent and damaging in the short-term than carbon emissions from fossil fuels. To avoid those emissions, California plans to start converting residents' food waste into compost or

President Biden has signed a series of executive orders to make the federal government carbon neutral. The Democrat president on Wednesday ordered federal agencies to purchase electric vehicles, harness wind, solar, and nuclear energy to power facilities, and to use sustainable building materials. The goal is for the federal government to stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2050. In the next decade, Biden wants the government to cease purchasing electricity produced from sources that emit carbon dioxide. By 2035, the administration wants all new federal cars and truck purchases to be zero-emissions. Right now, only about 1.5% of the government fleet is electric vehicles.

Newly resurfaced video appears to show a US attorney appointed by President Joe Biden angrily confronting journalists in an expletive-ridden tirade in January 2021. Biden tapped Suffolk Country District Attorney Rachael Rollins to lead the US Attorney's Office in Massachusetts in July. On Wednesday she made history as the first black woman to be confirmed in the role by the Senate, when Vice President Kamala Harris broke a 50-50 tie along party lines. But in footage recorded by Boston 25 News earlier in the year, Rollins angrily threatens a news team with legal action and accuses them of endangering her children for asking for an interview near her home.

Jill Biden defended Joe Biden's mental health, calling questions about her husband's capabilities 'ridiculous' and saying he works 'almost 24 hours' a day. Biden sat down with CBS' Rita Braver at Camp David to talk about life in the White House - a rare TV interview from the private presidential retreat in the Maryland mountains. In the conversation, she admitted being first lady was a 'little harder' than she expected, expressed optimism at what her husband can do in a highly-charged political environment of Washington, and dismissed recent polls showing Americans have questions about the president's mental fitness.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Forget speeding tickets — California truck drivers will soon have to watch out for pollution tickets. State regulators on Thursday voted to crack down on heavy duty trucks weighing more than 14,000 pounds (6,350 kilograms) — those big semi-trailers that make up just 3% of all vehicles in California but spend so much time on the road they account for more than half of all pollution from cars and trucks each year. New rules will require these big trucks, including ones from other states passing through Califonria — to be tested at least four times per year to make sure they

WASHINGTON — Jill Biden says being first lady “is a little harder than I imagined.” She tells “CBS Sunday Morning” in an interview set to air next week that her new role is a 24-hour undertaking and not the kind of job that ends at a certain hour. “I think it’s a little harder than I imagined,” the first lady said after being asked if she was prepared for what her new life would be like. “It’s not like a job that you do, it’s a lifestyle that you live, and it’s not something you leave at 5:00 or at

Should people be punted from parties if their pigment is paltry? Such a question’s currently being publicly posed at a private liberal arts school in Pennsylvania. A December 2nd op-ed at Swarthmore College boasts a titillating title: “Should We Be Kicking White People Out of Parties?” Writer Sameer Halepoto notes that Caucasians are crowding soirees. And when whites are out and about, others are put out: Hosted by the Swarthmore Queer Union (SQU), Swarthmore African Student Association (SASA), Swarthmore ENLACE, and the Swarthmore African-American Student Society (SASS), the party at Paces the Saturday before Thanksgiving welcomed diversity more than most.

Yes, Joe Biden is far and away the worst president in the history of the United States. However, the four-year Trump interlude between Obama and Biden gave the U.S. at least a little resiliency to stand against Biden’s hard-left administration. Imagine how much worse things would have been if Hillary had immediately stepped into Obama’s shoes. America wouldn’t have stood a chance. And lest you forget just what a horrible human being Hillary was, she just gave us a reminder as she spoke with Today’s Willie Geist about her decision to read her “victory speech” aloud for a MasterClass.

Some schools in California are using social justice tactics to try to repair the damage done to school-age children over the past almost two years of coronavirus lockdowns and remote learning. That includes the Los Angeles Unified, Oakland Unified, Sacramento City Unified, San Diego Unified and other districts are phasing out grades below a C for high school students. The plan is meant to “re-engage” students but also help them get accepted into public colleges.“Our hope is that students begin to see school as a place of learning, where they can take risks and learn from mistakes, instead of a place of compliance,”

House liberals are lining up behind a proposal to shorten the U.S. workweek to four days, which could bring American workplace culture more closely in line with Europe’s.The Congressional Progressive Caucus this week endorsed a measure that would shorten the official definition of a full workweek to 32 hours, triggering overtime pay for many workers who put in any additional hours.“After a nearly two-year-long pandemic that forced millions of people to explore remote work options, it’s safe to say that we can’t — and shouldn’t — simply go back to normal, because normal wasn’t working,” Rep. Mark Takano, vice chairman of the CPC, said in a statement about the move.

I always hated the "Goodbye, New York" genre of writing. "Good riddance," I’d think. "More room for us." I was raised in Brooklyn, my husband in Queens. Our three children were born in Manhattan. I was a New York supremacist. Your city is fine, really, it’s just that it’s not New York. It’s not even close. I’ve been to your city. Yes, I’ve been to that deli or that restaurant. That one street, it’s wonderful. But it’s not comparable to the greatest city in the history of the world. It’s just not. So it’s with some sadness and a lot of anger that I feel our family
