Left-wing Shutdown DC protest blocks traffic

A left-wing protest in Washington, D.C., is blocking traffic in the nation's capital to demonstrate against an administration and lawmakers they believe have failed them by not delivering on various promises. The initiative, dubbed "Shutdown DC," is a joint effort from several activist organizations that are each conducting blockades at different spots near the Capitol building. On Dec. 7, as Congress returns to the Capitol for the last week of the 2021 legislative calendar, we’re going to take bold direct action to demand that Congress and the administration take action to pass the programs that they promised us and we voted for," said a message on the Shutdown DC website.

Comments:

This demonstration is well funded - check the scaffolding and banners. I wonder if any of the demonstrators missed a day's work.

"Shutdown DC," is a joint effort from several activist organizations that are each conducting blockades at different spots near the Capitol building - "... we’re going to take bold direct action ..." Blockades are Domestic Terrorism. "Direct action" is an implied threat of violence. SO, Instead of paying airfares for ILLEGALS, America should be paying fares for "Shutdown DC axctivists" to CUBA or North Korea. Let's see how long they continue to protest once they arrive there.

Where there is several hundred or thousands of "Protesters" I can see local govt deciding to block streets and divert traffic. it makes civic sense. Letting a half dozen or Ten shut things down in each of a dozen different paces is silly, weak, and implies "Endorsement" rather than law enforcement. These are Chia Pets, not grassroots anything."House Plants" backed by the squad.

Chicago health officials confirmed Tuesday the first case of the omicron COVID variant in the state of Illinois has been detected in a city resident, making Illinois one of 21 states to have at least one case of the contagious variant. Health officials said the case was found in a person who is fully vaccinated and has received a booster dose. They have not required hospitalization and their health is improving, the Illinois Department of Public Health said. The patient had contact with an out-of-state visitor who tested positive for the omicron variant, and is self-isolating as they recover, officials said.

One of the most heinous things the Nazis did was medical experiments on people. Mengele was famous for his obsession with twins, whom he cruelly tortured, but the Nazis liked to do insanely cruel things to all sorts of captives. The Nuremberg Code was enacted to stop this from ever happening again, but individual European states and now the entire E.U. are ready to scrap the code. The Nuremberg trials after WWII made horribly clear the sadistic "experiments" the Nazis had performed on people. What was left of the civilized world decided that there needed to be a medical code of conduct

Nevada on Thursday became the first U.S. state to impose a surcharge on workers who have not gotten a COVID-19 vaccine, though the penalty doesn’t take effect until the middle of next year. All but two members of the state’s Public Employees’ Benefit Program Board (PEBP) voted during a meeting to approve a surcharge of $55 a month on unvaccinated workers. The approved proposal also stipulates a surcharge of $175 a month for workers’ spouses, partners, and dependents 18 and older. That could be adjusted down the road. The surcharges will go into effect on July 1, 2022. They’ll help offset the costs of

Does Justice Sonia Sotomayor even read the briefs in cases before the Supreme Court? I ask because the cases don't come any bigger than Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which addresses Mississippi's limit on abortion after 15 weeks. The Court is being asked to overturn the 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade and 1992 decision in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. I joined two other female physicians (a neonatologist and an obstetrician) in an amicus brief detailing advances in fetal science that have happened since 1973. During oral arguments, Justice Sotomayor displayed abysmal ignorance of the most basic scientific and medical facts about developing human life.

The threat of an invasion will be the central subject of President Biden’s video call with Putin on Tuesday. Biden is expected to warn of dire consequences should Russia follow through with a military offensive, while Putin is expected to reiterate his ultimatum that NATO should not allow Ukraine to join its military alliance. The outcome of the video call could have major implications as Putin weighs the potential costs of a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine.

Hillary Clinton lost, and now she needs to move on from the 2016 election. I’m not trying to be cruel or twist the knife. I mean this with all sincerity. She just needs to move on for her own good. The constant reliving of her failed campaign against former President Donald Trump is unhealthy. She’s clearly still upset about it. She’s clearly still angry. But she’ll never recover from her defeat so long as she continues to wallow in it, relentlessly poring over every excruciating detail. She’ll certainly never recover if she continues in both word and deed to define herself by her failed campaign.

The idea is to encourage students to learn the course material and not be derailed by a low grade that could potentially disqualify them from admission to the University of California and California State University.
