Chicago health officials confirmed Tuesday the first case of the omicron COVID variant in the state of Illinois has been detected in a city resident, making Illinois one of 21 states to have at least one case of the contagious variant. Health officials said the case was found in a person who is fully vaccinated and has received a booster dose. They have not required hospitalization and their health is improving, the Illinois Department of Public Health said. The patient had contact with an out-of-state visitor who tested positive for the omicron variant, and is self-isolating as they recover, officials said.

You'll need to run in circles and wave your arms again. Don't forget to wear that dirty, stinking, disposable mask you've been keeping for just such an emergency.

The new variant is a bad cold. Who gets hospitalized for that. Of course hospitals make tons of government money for every sick flu victim.

So far, all reports are that this version (as predicted two years ago) is less harmful than previous strains. IMO, too early to be certain (because they are lying to us so much), but it fits with predictions, based on disease vector mutations in the past. We'll NEVER be rid of the ChiCom flu. A new variant will pop up every year. That's the bad news. The good news is that it seems to be rapidly becoming just another nuisance disease.

Given all the millions who took the jab and left themselves exposed to all the viruses coming, I am not surprised to see an increase in hospital admissions. You make a messy bed, you are going to lie in wrinkles Liberals.

I guess I missed the numbers, but from reading the article, I gathered there was one patient with the virus. If that filled the hospital beds or is considered a 'surge', what would you call a half dozen?

The homeless man who allegedly set the Fox News Christmas tree alight was freed after his arraignment Wednesday because of lenient new bail reforms introduced under outgoing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D). The speedy return to the streets came just weeks after Craig Tamanaha, 49, allegedly flashed outside Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial court. The New York Post reports the suspect cried “I didn’t do it!” to reporters attending Manhattan criminal court after being asked about the early morning arson that caused about $500,000 in damage outside the Midtown building home to Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.

A left-wing protest in Washington, D.C., is blocking traffic in the nation's capital to demonstrate against an administration and lawmakers they believe have failed them by not delivering on various promises. The initiative, dubbed "Shutdown DC," is a joint effort from several activist organizations that are each conducting blockades at different spots near the Capitol building. On Dec. 7, as Congress returns to the Capitol for the last week of the 2021 legislative calendar, we’re going to take bold direct action to demand that Congress and the administration take action to pass the programs that they promised us and we voted for," said a message on the Shutdown DC website.

One of the most heinous things the Nazis did was medical experiments on people. Mengele was famous for his obsession with twins, whom he cruelly tortured, but the Nazis liked to do insanely cruel things to all sorts of captives. The Nuremberg Code was enacted to stop this from ever happening again, but individual European states and now the entire E.U. are ready to scrap the code. The Nuremberg trials after WWII made horribly clear the sadistic "experiments" the Nazis had performed on people. What was left of the civilized world decided that there needed to be a medical code of conduct

The approved proposal also stipulates a surcharge of $175 a month for workers’ spouses, partners, and dependents 18 and older. That could be adjusted down the road. The surcharges will go into effect on July 1, 2022. They’ll help offset the costs of

The doctors had each received their double-dose of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine plus a follow-up booster, according to a rep for the Sheba Medical Center outside Tel Aviv, Reuters reported. One doctor had recently returned from a conference in London, according to the hospital, which said it was likely he infected his colleague. The pair were reportedly experiencing mild COVID symptoms Tuesday. The infections come just days after Israel shut its borders to foreigners, instituting a two-week ban Saturday.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said Wednesday that people might need a fourth Covid-19 shot sooner than expected after preliminary research shows the new omicron variant can undermine protective antibodies generated by the vaccine the company developed with BioNTech. Pfizer and BioNTech released results from an initial lab study Wednesday morning that showed a third shot is effective at fighting the omicron variant, while the initial two-dose vaccination series dropped significantly in its ability to protect against the new strain. However, the two-dose series likely still offers protection against getting severely sick from omicron, the companies said.(Snip)Bourla previously projected that a fourth shot would be needed

DAVIS, Calif. — Banana peels, chicken bones and leftover veggies won't have a place in California trashcans under the nation's largest mandatory residential food waste recycling program that's set to take effect in January. The effort is designed to keep landfills in the most populous U.S. state clear of food waste that damages the atmosphere as it decays. When food scraps and other organic materials break down they emit methane, a greenhouse gas more potent and damaging in the short-term than carbon emissions from fossil fuels. To avoid those emissions, California plans to start converting residents' food waste into compost or

The constant reliving of her failed campaign against former President Donald Trump is unhealthy. She’s clearly still upset about it. She’s clearly still angry. But she’ll never recover from her defeat so long as she continues to wallow in it, relentlessly poring over every excruciating detail. She’ll certainly never recover if she continues in both word and deed to define herself by her failed campaign.
