Omicron possibly more infectious because
it shares genetic code with common cold
coronavirus, study says

Original Article

The omicron variant is likely to have picked up genetic material from another virus that causes the common cold in humans, according to a new preliminary study, prompting one of its authors to suggest omicron could have greater transmissibility but lower virulence than other variants of the coronavirus. (Snip) The study is in preprint and has not been peer-reviewed. The “striking” similarity between omicron and HCoV-229E could have made the former “more accustomed to human hosts” and likely to evade some immune system responses, said Venky Soundararajan, a biological engineer who co-wrote the study.  CORRECTION*

Comments:

I love how the "more infectious" part makes it to the headline and is emphasized and expanded on, but not the "lower virulence" part. There have been NO hospitalizations from this variant. Instead of looking on it as a good thing and hoping it replaces the delta variant, Fauci is preparing for new restrictions, as the New York governor has already done.

In Africa they report no symptoms for the unvaccinated, and mild symptoms for the vaccinated. Sounds like a great way to get to herd immunity.

Three weeks ago I caught a wicked cold. Maybe I had Omicron, lasted 2 weeks. Felt fine during the cold but lots of tissues were used. Thank goodness I didn't have to go the the doctor, they would've acted like I was Typhoid Mary.

Exactly what is expected. Coronas (and other viruses) become more infectious and less virulent. This bug is mutating itself out of business...as expected.

We've known this for almost two years. Covid is in the same family of viruses as the common cold, so it would make sense that the common cold and Covid would share the same genetic code.

Conclusion: We all have to wear masks 24/7/365 - - and have daily vaccinations - - until the common cold is eradicated. So - - universal mail-out ballots are mandatory until then.

Now it’s “more infectious”. Sounds zingier than “more transmissible” and has darker implications, no? They have to tinker with the language when they think they are not scaring us enough. I can remember when a cold could be described as “more catching”. If someone around you had one, you got it. And the common cold IS a coronavirus. From Covid19 Day One, we were told that mutations (now called variants) would be more transmissible and less virulent as that was the nature of viruses.

Odd thought: Can you imagine giving a name to each new year’s type of seasonal flu? Kind of like naming hurricanes? With Covid, are they operating on the principle that it’s easier to create fear of something that has a name other than “this year’s flu” or “this year’s Covid”?

The combination of highly infectious and low symptoms, low lethality would be an ideal 'broadcast immunity treatment' for the whole world population. And not more damned mRNA shots. Still too early to tell if this is correct, but the data seems to be trending that way. Prayers might help. Get "a cold" or similar and then be proof against the ChiCom virus for life, or at least for years. Let's hope that we have been given this gift to end this insanity, once and for all.

If you had any doubt that California’s present shortage of available water for farming in the Central Valley is a political not a climate problem, Anthony Watts will disabuse you of the notion. If you’ve any doubt that the this administration puts the desires of the crazy greens over the public interest, the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board puts that to rest. California’s Historic Flood-Drought Weather Per Watts, since 1861, before the industrial revolution, California has recorded periods of heavy rainfall and truly massive floods which more water storage could mitigate. On the “flip side,” the state has had long periods of drought which can be dated from 800 A.D.

One of the many appalling challenges that have confronted Western European authorities since mass Muslim immigration began several decades ago is the arrival of adult - often elderly - men with underaged girls whom they identify as their wives. Such marriages, of course, are not just permitted but encouraged under Islam. Muslims are taught to look in all things, big and small, to the example of their prophet, and they all know that one of the treasures of Muhammed’s harem - often described as his most beloved wife - was Aisha, whom he wed when she was six and deflowered when she was nine.

Federal officials and advisors who have consistently boosted COVID-19 vaccines are starting to sound more like skeptics of the vaccines' efficacy and safety. The face of the Biden administration's COVID response is now making the same claims about vaccines that got a contrarian journalist booted from Twitter, while the CDC encouraged Americans to avoid a specific vaccine. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci cowrote a "perspective" in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) Wednesday that acknowledged COVID vaccines were not living up to expectations.

Some of the most progressive Democrats in Congress are supporting new legislation that could help an unexpected group: those who were arrested and imprisoned without trial for playing a role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Democratic Reps. The bill, which the lawmakers first introduced last year, seeks "to provide a civil remedy for an individual whose rights have been violated by a person acting under federal authority." His memorandum, “Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the National Security Workforce”, created the woke military of the Biden administration by putting identity politics, diversity quotas, and political indoctrination at the heart of the military’s mission. Recent COVID-19 research sponsored by vaccine makers and the federal government may actually undermine the rationale for vaccine mandates. Two studies published last month in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) showed statistically insignificant differences between participants who received vaccinations or placebos in Pfizer and Moderna trials. Five placebo versus two vaccinated participants died from COVID-19 or related pneumonia across the two randomized controlled trials of more than 74,000 people six to seven months later. The figures are available in each study's supplementary appendix. All deaths reported during the vaccine trials, regardless of listed cause, were similarly close between vaccine (31) and placebo (30) groups in the two appendices.

The nuclear family has always been the backbone of American liberty and prosperity. However, the latest information from the Census Bureau shows that the nuclear family, if not dead, is on life support. Only the smallest fraction of American children are being raised in traditional two-parent households. Leftists have been waging relentless war on the nuclear family for decades in ways big and small. The big ways began in the 1960s with women’s liberation and no-fault divorce. While both of those may have relieved women from desperately bad marriages and dead-end jobs, they also served to take women out of their role as homemaker and the child’s primary teacher, often transferring

How did our “premier law enforcement agency” stray so far from its motto of fidelity, bravery, and integrity? Simply put, the FBI’s current state is the result of horrible leadership.
