Human remains have been found in the hunt for fugitive Brian Laundrie, the 23-year-old fiancé of murdered Gabby Petito, five weeks after he went on the run in an alligator-infested Florida swamp and on the day his parents joined investigators in the nature reserve together for the first time. The grim discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon in the Carlton reserve in Florida, near Laundrie's home, along with a backpack and notebook. Until Tuesday, the reserve had been sealed off to the public while investigators searched for any sign of him. It reopened on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning, Laundrie's mother and father, Roberta and Chris, joined the search

Maybe a decoy planted by parents while he's in canada.

Very likely him. If so, we will be spared the hyper coverage of a trial.

Sounds like they showed up to show Cops the exact location...where they had gone with him in the past. Had they done so on day one, he might still be alive. Had they worked with Cops at all, he would still be alive. He killed someone else's kid...THEY killed him.

Landrie is such a psychopath it wouldn't be surprising to me if he killed someone and planted his belongings and DNA such as blood around the body as a decoy.

I'd hate to see Dirty Laundrie get out of this so easily.
Forensic science is advanced enough to identify whether or not it is he.

Killed himself, or grabbed by a gator, or bitten by a water moccasin? Any way, good riddance.

Hope I'm wrong, but I fear his parents are along for the ride for the ''looks'' of it. They know where Brian is, but aren't talking. It would be nice to not have the lurid trial take up all Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's television news. (We need a lot more info on the girlish Admiral we have in Xiden's cabinet. /s )

I agree with #7! I won,t be at all surprised if he killed some Poor Fool wandering around, threw him to the Gators and then planted his Backpack and Diary! Now the FBI will quit looking for him!

I'll believe it when the dna report says that this is unquestionably Laundrie. Until then I don't believe anything that the lame stream media says. They lie at every level and are only looking for ratings.

The way I read the articles I have seen, the remains were found by a cadaver dog searching the area, which has been under water for a while. And once they found the body, they called in the parents, either to identify the remains.....and that would depend on the condition and completeness. If a gator ate most of him....may be not much to ID visually, or just if it has been a month in warm weather under water....yuck. Probably IDing the notebook and such.

Honestly I hope it's him. Save the families (and the taxpayers) having to sit through (and pay for) all the grizzly details of a trial.
However, after what a giant coward he appears to have been, I wouldn't be shocked to know he is thousands of miles away hiding like the coward that he is...

Isn’t “fiancé” the masculine form, and “fiancée” the female form for people engaged to be married? Although these days they seem to be used to indicate couples who are “shacked-up”, or “living in sin” to use two good old terms.

Human remains can mean many things. For instance, someone could amputate a limb or part of a limb and the DNA match might be enough to be legally declared dead. That would be a painful but clever way to end a nationwide search. Anyone capable of strangling that little slip of a young lady would be capable of most anything. I would hope that the search team would hold out for a skull, as that would pass the smell test.

A defendant is entitled to the presumption of innocence in a courtroom setting, but outside of court citizens are entitled to take a darker view than the law would allow during trial. Where could Brian Laundrie run and hide, and for how long? A bettor--some of us might have a betting interest in this case--would lay even odds that the remains found were those of Laundrie. If an alligator or water moccasin or Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake or black bear intersected with the fugitive, well, scary bad things can happen in the swamp. Mother Nature is a cruel you know what. We build houses so we don't have to live among wild animals in godforsaken places like the Carlton Reserve.
Did Laundrie escape? Is he in Mexico, Canada, or South America? I don't think so. Something got him, either an animal or an overwhelming sense of guilt. He wasn't going to face justice, except the final kind.

Can you imagine the variety of meat eating animals who have chowed down on a corpse that has been lying down on the ground in a big Florida swamp for five weeks? Chances are they were unable to eat the teeth, so medical science should be able to identify the corpse rapidly.
