A Seattle elementary school has canceled its upcoming Halloween parade and will be banning students from dressing in costumes on October 31, claiming that the annual event ‘marginalizes’ students of color who administrators claim do not celebrate the holiday.Officials at the Benjamin Franklin Day Elementary School have discussed axing the annual Pumpkin Parade for five years, but first notified parents about the unilateral decision to cancel it in an October 8 newsletter, according to The Jason Rantz Show on local news station KTTH Radio.
If you don't celebrate it, then don't worry about it. Just ignore it and go celebration some other thing instead.
I am sick of these damn grievance sissies. If you don't want to be part of American culture, LEAVE.

Idiots. So if some kids don’t want to participate in trick or treating, so what? Nobody’s trying to force them to. It’s a free country. At least it used to be.

Funny, most of the kids I've known to eschew Halloween are colored white.

I was a kindergarten aide for 9 years. Always enjoyed any holiday we could celebrate. Fun, a few games, a craft project. Everyone had a good time. One year we had a family that did not celebrate any holiday due to religious beliefs. Fine, they are certainly entitled to their beliefs. When we celebrated said holiday the child was excused from school that day. Everyone agreed to respect each other and the absence was not held against the child. BUT, it always took me back when the mother would show up after school to collect any goodie bag that the children were given during the celebration. The kindergarten teacher was furious and called this mother out as a hypocrite, which she was. After a lengthy conversation with the principal it was decided it was not worth the fight even though he agreed with the teacher. The mother wanted someone to bring her the goodie bag but the principal told her she would have to come to the office to retrieve the bag. What bowled me over was that she wanted her child to participate in the Christmas gift exchange. The principal did put his foot down on that request. If you want to participate fine, if not fine. I have a Jewish friend and when she discusses Hanukkah I don't go screaming into the night looking for a safe place pleading for her to stop because we don't have the same beliefs. Why are so many people insane about such things? I thought we were suppose to "celebrate" our differences. Lots of Brandons on too many school boards.

So, what? Schools have no obligation to put on parades for any holiday. These "educators" are killjoys, truly giving children an education...limiting rather than expanding their cultural horizons. There should be no more talk of "diversity" after this, the whole idea of which is based on sharing cultures and understanding through cultural exchange.

Benjamin Franklin school. Wasn't he white? Time to rename the school before you worry about Hallowe'en.

No. They’re marginalizing people who do celebrate a harmless kid holiday and destroying their childhoods. And that is their intent.

FTA: "A Seattle elementary school has canceled its upcoming Halloween parade and will be banning students from dressing in costumes on October 31, claiming that the annual event ‘marginalizes’ students of color who administrators claim do not celebrate the holiday?"
Why? October 31, 2021 is a Sunday.

Since when? Black kids in my schools and neighborhoods dressed up and trick or treated. White Liberals ruin everything!

The majority can't celebrate Halloween but you can be sure the Media will be totally behind every made up minority occasion that they can find.

Continuing down this road will eliminate every holiday because some malcontent doesn't participate. This must have been dreamed up by a teacher. Liberals have become the new Puritans. Somebody somewhere might be enjoying themselves.

Another brick in the Marxist wall, removing the holidays of our culture, to leave the calendar open for the Party to place the days significant to it and the worker's paradise being shoved down our throats. Anything that promotes stability of the family and unity of faith competes with the Party for fealty and must be eliminated. Not even something as manifestly obvious as man and woman can be left intact... confuse everything and send the pieces swirling in turbulence.

If the school truly respects all cultures and beliefs, what better way to reinforce that than by having all students being able to celebrate all regular culturally appropriate traditions and holidays? Students could still opt out. The "students of color " argument is getting old and seems like a cop out.

It's high time we marginalize these communists, and deal with them properly. We do NOT have to die the death of 10,000 cuts. We do not have to tolerate this nonsense. This isn't China (yet).
These creatures only have the power we give them. We must resist at all costs. We must get in the faces of these little tin pot dictators at every opportunity, and cower them into submission, as they treat us. Sparklefarts famously told his minions to do so. These punks need paid back in their own coin.

I don't celebrate ramadan or any other foreign holidays, either, such as Cinco de Mayo. Why, therefor, do we always have to put up with all the noise and drunken mexicans every year? It is only our celebrations that must be cancelled, apparently.

By eliminating such cultural events you are denying individuals the ability for inclusion and assimilation into society. Just keep the tribes separate and at war with each other is not the way to govern.

We no longer participate in handing out candy. We had too many instances of adult ‘people of color’ coming to the house to trick or treat. They always tried to step inside the door, and always commented that we had a nice house. I decided it was their way to case the neighborhood for ‘future visits”.

Cancel this cancel that for the grievance of how many persons? Give me a number, one, two, three thousand? If it's for one person this is ridiculous. No one makes them participate just stay home and out of the way if it offends. The majority of people who back down and cater to this have themselves to blame. Tough cookies the world is not always full of rainbows with unicorns for everyone. Good grief!

Imagine what would happen if all of these schools and leftist mayors found out that Halloween is a Catholic event - All Hallows’ Eve - the night before All Saints Day. Just as Valentine’s Day is the Catholic feast day of Saint Valentine.
