Nearly a year has passed since the 2020 election, yet there has not been a clear, satisfactory answer to the central mystery: How did a dull, declining Joe Biden manage to get more than 81 million votes and win the presidency? After all, Biden spent most of the pandemic-laced campaign in his Delaware basement and his appearances were marked by sparse crowds and signs he had lost more than a step. Yet he flipped five states Hillary Clinton lost in 2016, including Georgia and Arizona, and racked up 306 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 232.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) on Friday condemned the process that led to the redistricting of his House seat ahead of the next election, calling it “anything but transparent.” “I have proudly served six terms in the U.S. House and it has been an honor to do so,” Kinzinger said. “Following the release of the new congressional maps for Illinois, my team and I will spend some time looking them over and reviewing all of the options, including those outside the House. This redistricting process has been anything but transparent, which comes as no surprise to anyone. I believe the people

Queen Elizabeth II, the world's longest-reigning living monarch, is a picture of good health even at 95 years of age. One of the reasons the monarch has aged so gracefully is that she follows the advice of her nutritionists and doctors, but she wasn't very happy when she was recently asked to drop her daily cocktail. (Snip) As per various reports, the queen enjoys a gin cocktail in the morning, followed by a glass of wine or champagne with lunch, and another glass of champagne plus a dry martini in the evening. Her late cousin Margaret Rhodes said that the

China launched a new hypersonic nuclear-capable missile that circled the entire globe at low-orbit in August, the Financial Times reported.
US Intelligence and US Military officials were left stunned.
“We have no idea how they did this,” a source told the Financial Times.
According to the report, the missile missed its target by about 24 miles and caught US intel by surprise.
Earlier this year, a satellite image showed China had expanded its nuclear missile silo field.
“Identified via satellite imagery, the new missile base in China’s Xinjiang region may eventually include 110 silos, said the report released Monday by the Federation of American Scientists (FAS).

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday on CNN’s “The Lead” that rising prices were a “good thing” because it meant more people were buying goods.Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Inflation is skyrocketing as I don’t need to tell you. The prices for home heating costs, cars, groceries, furniture, rent, gasoline are hitting Americans right in the wallet. The White House response has been generally to say, ‘Hey, inflation shows we’re coming out of the recession. It’s a good sign.'”He continued, “President Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain enthusiastically retreated an economist who said in part ‘Most of the economic problems, inflation, supply chains, et cetera, are high-class problems.’

President Joe Biden visited a daycare center in Connecticut on Friday, promoting his multitrillion-dollar spending bills that would make the federal government subsidize child and elder care.
The president argued that his “Build Back Better” bill was focused on human infrastructure to get the economy running again.
“How can we compete in a world if millions of American parents, especially moms, can’t be part of the work force?” Biden asked. “Because they can’t afford the cost of child care or elder care?”
Biden said the cost of childcare in America made it difficult for both parents to work.

Dozens of climate activists have been arrested after they clashed with police in Washington DC and forced their way into the Interior Department building in scenes that some have called reminiscent of the US Capitol riot.
An Interior Department spokeswoman said a group of demonstrators rushed the lobby on Thursday, injuring multiple security officers, at least of whom was taken to a nearby hospital.
Police and protesters clashed outside the building, and officers used Tasers and batons against several unarmed protesters, representatives for the activist group said. The group said 55 participants were arrested.
The dramatic scenes came during five days of demonstrations in the capital
