California Gov. Newsom crushes Republican-led
recall effort

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Despite warnings the race would be close, California Gov. Gavin Newsom decisively defeated efforts to kick him out of office, a win the Democrat cast as an endorsement of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and his party’s liberal values. Newsom cruised to victory in the recall election Tuesday, boosted by healthy turnout among an overwhelmingly Democratic electorate, ensuring the nation’s most populous state will remain a laboratory for progressive policies. With an estimated two-thirds of ballots counted, the “no” response to the question of whether to recall Newsom was ahead by a 30-point margin.

Comments:

Very sad. From a distance, it looks as if Elder had little support from main-stream Republicans never managed to get his message out.

Why did anyone think for a second that Newsom would not win out? The Democrats could not afford for this recall to take place, and "they" count all the votes. Cheat, Lie, Steal . . . whatever it takes, power is all that matters to them.

No surprise. The fix was in from the start. Ballots mailed out without being requested, giving "harvesters" cover to stuff ballot boxes, 70% of voters in some areas arriving at their polling places only to find that votes had already been recorded for them, and now cover from the "fact-checkers" claiming there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the California recall election.

California being what it is, I do not know if this election was stolen or not. However, the fact that it was not close leads me to suspect that it was. If Larry Elder had won, I would have thought hat those who stole the 2020 election were afraid that people would stop believing that the government was legitimate. Now, I will not know until we see the outcome of the 2022 elections. If the Republicans do not take the House and the Senate in 2022, we will know that voting no longer makes a difference.

I haven't been to California since China unleashed the virus but it is so sad to see it run down everywhere I travelled. More trash blowing around on expressways, more poorly maintained buildings and homes, wrought iron window bars and gates, gated "public" parking. Unlike Florida, Texas and other freedom, fiscally responsible states the virus in California will never go away so I won't have a benchmark for the further decline. I can believe 64% voted for Newsance as they must be oblivious.

GO GET YOUR STUFF!! Make it hurt. Yes, I’m screaming at the Californians who whine yet don’t get in the fight. If the USA has turned into a nation of timid old women and will die. The videos of the Taliban whipping women in public (at will) is a message to the world. That’s how a nation of men returns to power and you can bet your life that America’s men WILL return to power. The wailing and gnashing of teeth will be immense but will only earn you an additional beating. Go get your free 70” TV from Target/Walmart. The people of CA just authorized it.

Wrong, OP. The demonrats had massive cheating set up long before the “election”. Residents were allowed to print their own ballots at home. The mail in envelopes had a window which showed the vote selected which made tossing the “yes” votes easy. Newsom didn’t “crush” anything - he stole this just like Talibiden stole the 2020 election.

During these "covid" times, I sold my home in a nice Silicon Valley area, mostly left wing, and bought a home in a beautiful rural area, only 100 miles from where I lived prior. This is the heart of the "Jefferson" movement. Trump signs are still up, and adults and kids in High School wear Trump hats or Tee Shirts. There are boat parades on the lake with huge Trump flags. California in many parts is a beautiful place to live. Ronald Reagan came from here. You cannot paint an entire state with "California deserves what they get". This is a huge place. Pray for our state.

Should Gavin Newsom be recalled? 9.1 million votes cast, 63.9% said 'no'. If a majority say 'yes', who should replace him. A little over 5 million votes were cast, but 44.7% left the question blank. Elder got 2.3 million votes. Other candidates got roughly 1.3 million votes. it will be interesting to see how much voter fraud played a part in the vote, and how it was done. Nearly half of the vote to replace Newsom left it blank which sounds weird. Regardless, sounds like many people in California are willing to vote away their freedom, wealth, and safety. They knew what they would get with Newsom, and were content to vote for him anyway.

It was in only two precincts where Republicans were told they had already voted. It turned out that the voter roll data, used to verify eligibility, that was loaded there was from a previous election. Sloppy on the part of those precincts but not fraud. When the result is two to one in favor of the Party, fraud isn’t necessary. Two thirds of the vote were legitimately in favor of Newsom. The Party only cheats when it must. This election wasn’t close so the Party didn’t have to cheat.

This Sept. 11, a diminished president will preside over a diminished nation. [Snip] Joe Biden was supposed to be the man of the hour: a calming presence exuding decency, moderation and trust. As a candidate, he sold himself as a transitional president, a fatherly figure in the mold of George H.W. Instead, Biden has become the emblem of the hour: headstrong but shaky, ambitious but inept.

WASHINGTON — Two weeks after celebrating America’s near “independence” from the coronavirus, President Joe Biden is confronting the worrying reality of rising cases and deaths — and the limitations of his ability to combat the persistent vaccine hesitance responsible for the summer backslide. Cases of COVID-19 have tripled over the past three weeks, and hospitalizations and deaths are rising among unvaccinated people. While the rates are still sharply down from their January highs, officials are concerned by the reversing trendlines and what they consider needless illness and death. And cases are expected to continue to rise in coming weeks.

ROME — Pope Francis cracked down Friday on the spread of the old Latin Mass, reversing one of Pope Benedict XVI’s signature decisions in a major challenge to traditionalist Catholics who immediately decried it as an attack on the ancient liturgy. Francis reimposed restrictions on celebrating the Latin Mass that Benedict relaxed in 2007. The pontiff said he was taking action because Benedict’s reform had become a source of division in the church and been used as a tool by Catholics opposed to the Second Vatican Council, the 1960s meetings that modernized the liturgy. Francis issued a new law requiring individual bishops to approve celebrations of the old Mass

Nearly a year has passed since the 2020 election, yet there has not been a clear, satisfactory answer to the central mystery: How did a dull, declining Joe Biden manage to get more than 81 million votes and win the presidency? After all, Biden spent most of the pandemic-laced campaign in his Delaware basement and his appearances were marked by sparse crowds and signs he had lost more than a step. Yet he flipped five states Hillary Clinton lost in 2016, including Georgia and Arizona, and racked up 306 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 232.
