'It makes no sense': NOPD detective slain

Detective Everett Briscoe had earned his vacation. A 13-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department, Briscoe had investigated homicides and other serious crimes across the city for over a decade. The 41-year-old father of two boys was preparing to pursue a university degree in criminal justice and, like many, was working to keep his family safe during the coronavirus pandemic. So as he unwound during a trip to Houston on Saturday night, Briscoe decided to grab dinner on the patio of the Grotto Restorante in the Texas city's ritzy Galleria neighborhood. But at 5:15 p.m., the evening turned tragic when two gunmen approached Briscoe

Comments:

A group of black men from New Orleans visits Houston, and one is murdered by Young bLACK Men perhaps imported from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Makes sense to me; they place no value on human life.

That's a pretty ritzy part of town too. Criminal thugs also drive from Chicago up to sleepy, clean Appleton, WI to do crimes. New Orleans isn't that far for thugs to go for a hunt. There's a reason why 'vigilante justice' ruled the South up until the 1970's...

Another report listed them as 'two hooded men', so I dug deep (could have been KKK hoods, right?). Police report two black men in a grey Altima. FTA: "implored the public to come forward with any information"... but didn't dare provide the public with a description of the perpetrators. So the family may never get justice, but the journalist who helped protect the criminals will get to keep their job so they can continue to call the rest us RACISTS!

There was a picture of the 2 murderers on the news. They were accurately described as 2 black men. One was wearing a white hoodie and black pants. The other was wearing a black hoodie and jeans. The Galleria area and the Galleria proper have taken on a distinctly dangerous air. I will not go there anymore unless it is curbside pickup of an item. Black on Black crime at the local eatery. Also, the car had paper tags. You can buy them on any corner. Always have some available if you intend to commit a crime.

As a Texan, I can't imagine why a cop from New Orleans would "vacation" in Houston. It's closer to Destin and Panama City going the other direction on I-10.

A Black cop who was fired from a Florida police department for using the N-word is back on the job this week after officials determined the punishment was too harsh. Delvin White, a beloved school resource officer at Tampa’s Middleton High School, was canned in March after an audit of his body-worn camera turned up at least two videos showing him using the racial slur in November 2020, according to police. In one of the incidents, the officer was heard referencing a group of people as “ghetto [n-words]” during a phone call, the Tampa Police Department said in a statement early this year.

The Taliban were transformed from an insurgent rabble armed with cast-off Soviet-era weapons into one of the most well-equipped forces in the region in the space of a few days during their lightning-fast advance across Afghanistan. The U.S. Capitol Police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt on Jan. 6 during the insurrection was cleared Monday after an internal review concluded the action may have spared the lives of lawmakers and staffers who had barricaded themselves inside the building. "The officer’s actions were consistent with the officer’s training and (U.S. Capitol Police) policies," the agency's inquiry found. The agency declined to identify the officer. Federal prosecutors decided in April not to pursue criminal charges in the case. Some who supported the Capitol siege by rioters angry about the outcome of the presidential election cast Babbitt as a martyr to the conservative cause.

The poll was taken during and after the fall of the now-Taliban-controlled Kabul, Afghanistan, when Biden botched the U.S. troops’ withdrawal from the country.
