Galveston, Texas—At least one person who sailed on a Carnival cruise out of Galveston, Texas in late July to early August died from COVID-19, the cruise line confirmed Tuesday. The cruise line is pushing back against what they call "disinformation," saying it is almost certain the woman who died did not contract COVID on the ship. The Houston Chronical reported that 77-year-old Carnival Vista passenger Marilyn Tackett of Oklahoma was put on a ventilator in Belize after experiencing respiratory complications.(Snip)The tourism board said 99.98% of the ship's crew was vaccinated, as well as 96.5% of its passengers.

This is fun, too. So-called migrants from outside New America receive "free" hospital care, the cost of which is passed along to Legacy Americans to prove that US healthcare is too expensive because we need socialized medicine. Meanwhile, if you're deathly ill in the homeland of a migrant, the gringo has to cough up cash on the barrelhead.
"Tackett was later transferred to a hospital in Belize City, one of the cruise ship’s stops. However, the private hospital demanded that the family pay $5,000 before admitting the patient. The family raised the funds through a crowd-funding initiative, which allowed Tackett to be admitted into an intensive care unit in Belize and placed on a ventilator."

No one said the vaccines would work 100 % of the time on 100 % of the people. They do reduce risk, it appears. Whether this woman got sick on the cruise ship or not should not deter people from making their own choices about travel, etc. Everything has risk associated with it. The woman could have slipped and fallen while aboard ship and the resulting injuries could have caused her death.
This article seems like it is fearmongering.

Crew and Passengers need to be 100% vaccinated for at least a couple weeks before boarding. None of this getting their Shot on the way to Boarding. We are Booked on a cruise the first of February. We are watching what is happening. If Passengers continue to get COVID while on their Cruise, we will cancel. I think the Cruise Line can do better. If they say it's a 100% Vaccinated cruise, they should mean it!

Isn't the incubation period up to 2 weeks? She could have been exposed and gotten Covid anytime up to getting on the cruise. If she was exposed on the cruise, she developed symptoms and got very ill very quickly so then there must have been other underlying issues. Either way, the only thing that the cruise had to do with Covid is that she tested positive while on it. Kind of like saying that she was diagnosed with the flu while being at the doctors office. Did the trip to the doctors office cause the flu?

She wasn't sick when she got on the ship. How many times do we have to tell these people that anyone can carry the virus. If they don't, why all the hand washing?

Regardless of how many co-morbidities she had, if you're 77 and you choose to go on a packed cruise ship in the middle of a pandemic, that may not be the wisest choice of bucket list items to pursue at this time.

I still hear very little in msm about treating the disease. Masks and vaccines give one a sense of security but if you can smell flatulence through your mask then a virus will have no problem going through it as well. Vaccines apparently have a short shelf which will require annual or semiannual booster shots. I still remember the uproar when Gov. Rick Perry tried to mandate an HPV vaccine for teens 14 years ago. Trial run I guess.

Did they leave out that she weighed 264 lbs. when the cruise started - - and 287 lbs. when it arrived in Belize? Was that the woman - - or am I confusing her with someone else?

#5 wins the day. Ventilators kill people. Most of the new cases are in the vaccinated group. The whole thing is a fraud. Do some research.

We have a friend who loves to take and use his points on Carnival Cruises. We often mention at his age those cruises are a pitre dish for illnesses but he still goes even with Covid-19 out there.

So she was diagnosed on a cruise. She could have gotten it at the grocery store, the beauty salon, from her family, on the jet to the cruise, church, from a friend. Who knows? Her Covid manifested while on the cruise; doesn't mean she got it on the cruise.

Oh, but it was most probably the .02% of crew, or 3.5% of passengers that gave it to her....

The largest cruise ship SYMPHONY OF THE SEAS has 2100 crew members. 0.02% of that crew would be 0.42 people. Last I checked, people have to be counted in integers because fractional people tend to be dead since they are likely missing key body parts. Even monsters in horror movies are usually dead after they are cut in half.
99.98%?!?!?! The only way for that number to be correct is for the crew to number 5000 and only one of them is not vaccinated. But no cruise ship has a crew anywhere near 5000. I wonder if the internet censors will ban this article and cancel that TV station since the information is so obviously fake. Or maybe sending the reporters to math classes will fix the problem.

Not a surprise. Carnival is the worst cruise line. They generally have viruses of all kinds on board. Not the first time.

"Despite being fully vaccinated," etc. Must be one of those sneaky variants again, making it appear that the vaccine does not do what they claim.
