Aug 17 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President George W. Bush, who launched a "war on terror" in Afghanistan and elsewhere following the Sept. 11, 2001attacks, urged the U.S. government to expedite help for Afghan refugees following the Taliban's swift takeover in recent days. "The United States government has the legal authority to cut the red tape for refugees during urgent humanitarian crises. And we have the responsibility and the resources to secure safe passage for them now, without bureaucratic delay," Bush and former first lady Laura Bush said in a statement late on Monday.

Gee - - it's too bad ¡Jeb! isn't president - - he'd have been a fabulous Nation Builder.

Bush's statement is the equivalent of one of those "All races and blah blah welcome here" yard signs. How about he let the Afghan refugees all live on one of his giant Texas ranches in a big tent city.

You mean "no borders Bush" and his globalists want to take in everyone on site who manages to jump on the plane? Hey, those who helped our men and are sponsored by our loyal military (the boots, not the suits) are welcome to come here. Again, I am ashamed I ever voted for Bush, Bush, McCain and Romney! They are why I am a registered independent now. That is why the pollsters have it all wrong to think that independents are middle ground voters...between the Ds and the Rs....easy to sway one way or the other. I am disgusted with the lot of them!

One wonders. With Dementia Joe's foreign policies and our open borders, would the US welcome Taliban fighters that illegally crossed our southern border as they do everyone else? Its clear Dementia Joe and his sycophants welcome the Taliban into Kabul. And Dementia Joe welcomes everyone coming from Mexico. So it the Taliban came to the US from Mexico, would Joe, Heels-up, Naci and Chuckie met them at the border with open arms?

Why can’t the Taliban use a portion of the ransom money that Biden is paying them to allow us to evacuate people from Kabul Airport to feed its citizens? No, not the 10% of this ransom set aside for The Big, but some other portion. Has to be multiple millions in freshly printed bills.

During his presidency, I could never understand what Afghanistan and Iraq had to do with 9/11. I wanted to support him but everyone kept telling me about WMD's. Colin Powell even made the case too. I still didn't get it. I thought we should have paid more attention to airline procedures and border situations but, again, I didn't want to question George W because there was so much opposition to him. Now I am taking a second look. Taking a look at airline procedures and border situations for an amnesty kind of guy goes against he believes. So I guess he really needed to take it to Iraq and Afghanistan - how dare we do anything about the borders and airlines.

Um, we DID aid the Afghan people, to the tune of billions of dollars AND American lives. They still have nothing worth fighting for, so they just cut and run ala Saigon. We are Americans. We fight and die for our homeland. We don't NEED anyone who fails to do the same to come here. The only Afghan Christians, Jews, or those who directly assisted should be welcomed here.

In other words, quickly bring unlimited numbers of primitive foreign Muslims into the USA, in a disorganized “good enough for Government work” program the is bound to allow a percentage of potentially dangerous Islamists into the USA who would perpetrate more terrorist attacks. That would be another very bad Bush decision!

Joe Biden and his media acolytes call him Mr. Empathy and Mr. Compassion. His Afghanistan speech yesterday told a different story, and should end that phony spin forever. My takeaway was how cold, and hard, and compassionless Biden was as he sought to extricate himself from the catastrophe of his own making. He blamed everyone but himself for his failure, particularly the Afghan army. He smarmily assured terrified Afghanis left behind he'd now speak out for their human rights instead of actually protect them. He effectively told U.S. servicemembers their service was for nothing. It was appalling.

Although the White House had intended to keep Biden under wraps for as long as possible, the demand that he say something – anything – about the unfolding debacle in Afghanistan forced him to leave Camp David for a 20-minute statement, after which he refused to take any questions. The important part of what he said boils down to one sentence: We had to leave and everything that went wrong was Trump’s or the Afghans' fault. Biden is a craven coward, a feckless fool, a dismal dummy, and a man who will soon have more blood on his hands than a thousand Lady Macbeths.
