Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Friday signed into a law a bill that bars hair discrimination in schools, saying it will help ensure that students statewide feel “comfortable and confident in their own skin.”But the mother whose son was an inspiration for the law — a 4-year-old Black child who was told his braids were a violation of school dress codes — said the moment “is bigger than just hair.”“Our hair is an extension of who we are as a race and is deeply connected with our cultural identity,” said Ida Nelson, who had a front row seat at the bill signing, holding son Gus “Jett” Hawkins in her lap.

They can paint themselves purple and dye their hair orange, put it in braids or curls or whatever. Just get off the stage.

By law, black people will now have hair that comes in different colors, some of it straight, some wavy, some curly. Genetic modification? Transplants? Whatever, it's the law.

HAIR! Their existence celebrated, not just tolerated! Black babies often have hair when they are born, how about celebrating and tolerating and letting a few more of them live? Guess that isn't as important of an issue. If only babies had enough hair to braid. Our world is absurd.

Doe that work for light skinned blonde kids too? We're grandparents and we know first hand about being a white kid in an 'integrated' school.

Encouraging students to find socially acceptable ways to stand out from the crowd is laudable.
However, the example provided by the bill's sponsor is clownish. Is this really the way parents want their kids to "express" themselves? There's a big difference between Jett Hawkins's neatly braided hair and the medusa-like mess the sponsor wore to the "celebration."

Schools can mandate masks, but not dress codes? They have gone crazy. Take your kids somewhere else.

Keep them focused on the important things.
Then you can rob them blind.
As nasty pislousey said ‘quit your job and learn a language or an instrument.’ While you’re doing that she’s raking in $$$millions.

You can't tell them how to style their hair, but you can force them to get a vaccine before being allowed in school. Yup. Makes sense to me.

Ummm - - then - - why do Moochie, KamaLOL, and Maxine - - and lots of others - - style their hair - - and/or their borrowed wigs - - like white women.
Shouldn't all Proud Black Women wear their hair with its natural frizz?

When they get through high school Black graduates can have whatever style braids they wish, but will they be able to read and write and have an understanding of math or science? It appears that does not matter in the big leftist and socialist Democrat run cities, where cool braids may be the future qualification to get them affirmative action positions as doctors or engineers to compete against the Communist Chinese.

If you look bizarre on purpose, expect stares, giggles, pointing and guffaws, at minimum.
Your choice.
Dress and groom normally or oddly.
If we laugh, it's because you look weird.
Not our fault.

Hmm interesting priorities. Hair is more important than focusing on absent fathers and/or families with as many different last names for the children as there are fathers for each child. Then they scream racism and CRT. Blame others so you don’t have to address your bad choices. How is that working out for yous peepo?

All over the US, black kid's state exam scores are more than 20% less than the white kids. That's not just here and there; that's everywhere. Hair isn't going to change that.

It might be worth it to do a GoFundMe to sponsor a foreign student from the Xingu tribe in the Brazilian Amazon or the Kolufo of Papua New Guinea to be an exchange student in an Illinois school. They don't wear clothing and surely their existence deserves to be celebrated, not just tolerated.

Years ago, my kids came home from school with head lice. They had to have their hair buzz cut. I was mortified until I spoke with the school principal who told me that this was a common outbreak. Good point #17 are dreads exempt?

It used to be that grooming standards were preparation for adulthood so that students could grow up, get hired for a first job enroute to an occupation. Thanks to Biden, that's no longer necessary.

Gov. Fatwad never misses an opportunity to pander to blacks in Illinois. He kisses the buttcracks of every one of them who come up with some stupid idea like this. He would kiss their feet, but he's too fat to get down on the floor to do it.
