A California couple whose gender reveal pyrotechnic show started a massive inferno that killed a fireman last year have each been hit with involuntary manslaughter charges. Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez pleaded not guilty to the felony charge and 29 other counts related to the September 2020 El Dorado Fire on Monday, officials said. The wildfire was allegedly started by the couple’s smoke-generating pyrotechnic device that ignited dry grass at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains, 75 miles east of LA. The Jimenezes tried to put out the blaze with bottled water, but it was quickly stoked by strong winds and dry conditions, authorities said

This "gender reveal" nonsense has gone too far. Before it was just a blue or pink cake with neutral frosting hiding the cake. The it morphed into balloons, fireworks, explosives, and who knows what else. I know people are excited about having a baby, but I'd rather go back to when I was a child, when baby gifts were all yellow or green because no one knew what they were having, and everyone guessed until the birth.

I'll bet they show up in court as scheduled!" s/ "...The Jimenezes were released on their own recognizance, despite prosecutors’ request that they each be held on $50,000 bail, and are due back in court at the end of summer, according to the Desert Sun... "...the couple faces three felony counts of recklessly causing a fire with great bodily injury, four felony counts of recklessly causing a fire to inhabited structures and 22 misdemeanor counts of recklessly causing fire to property, the paper said. The couple faces more than 20 years behind bars if convicted of all counts, according to the report...."

Those gender reveal stunts are the sappiest things… I remember being glad that I didn’t know whether my babies would be boys or girls… My happy gender reveal days came when they were born. (Boys! Yay!!!)

It's like the out of control weddings. Gourmet dinner, dancing, DJ and or a band, open bar etc. I'm sorry it's crazy. If you can afford it fine but these kids who are taking out loans for $25,000 to host a wedding, I don't get it. Just like the babies. I didn't know the sex of my child until he was born. Actually it was fun not knowing. A few months ago I read two different stories where the reveal went wrong and both fathers were killed. This has become unnecessary nonsense. I feel that it is just a cheap assed excuse to get more presents and drink too much.

I agree with the other posters. These type of events and weddings have gotten really extreme. Some friends went to a wedding a few years ago and couldn't believe the reception. The father of the bride said he spent over $30,000 on it. What a nice down payment on a house that would have been. We were invited to a wedding to the stepson of a relative that we had seen maybe half a dozen times. The invitation said please no gifts, just money to pay for a honeymoon to a country where there were caves they wanted to explore. They had a list that broke down the cost of everything. Plane tickets, hotel rooms, the cost of the cave exploration. It was ridiculous. We sent our regrets and that was all.

I own a house with a nice view if El Dorado Park. It is in the foothills between Yucaipa and Oak Glen. I'm not there in the summer, but last year was an exception...just in time for the fire. I think this blaze might have been visible on the moon and it lasted for almost a month. As Agatha Christies wrote in Cards on the Table, "Stupidity is unforgiveable and punishment always the result." These stupid people deserve a long stretch in prison for causing this fire. The debris left behind will blot the landscape for decades.

After nearly giving up on love, Dina Huxley’s life was falling into place. She found her soulmate, Iain, in 2018, through a dating app. They married a year later, and welcomed a baby boy in June. It was a storybook ending which crumbled just two weeks after the birth of their son. Iain, 46, was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which had spread to his liver. Instead of enjoying her new life as a mom, she began searching for treatments to help Iain, who has been in and out of the hospital with infections that delayed his chemotherapy. “It’s like we hit a tree and ended up upside down,” she said.

As an athlete, there are certain games that you never forget. Maybe it’s because of a play you made, the energy of the crowd, the stakes involved – or it could be something deeper. One of those games for me came in September of 2011, my senior year on the University of Arkansas football team. We were playing New Mexico, but that’s not why I remember it. We were commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11, and War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock had been transformed into a sea of red, white, and blue. America’s strongest ally has decried the ice cream giant’s move as anti-Israel and antisemitic. Florida Gov. They can’t stand other opinions. They can’t. They cannot be allowed to live. The people who hold them must be targeted and smeared. All must bow before the unholy altar of American progressivism. People who support Trump are mentally defective, so they must be deprogrammed. What does that mean? Sounds Stalinist in the extreme. It also reeks of Chinese Cultural Revolution underpinnings.
