It was a storybook ending which crumbled just two weeks after the birth of their son. Iain, 46, was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which had spread to his liver. Instead of enjoying her new life as a mom, she began searching for treatments to help Iain, who has been in and out of the hospital with infections that delayed his chemotherapy. “It’s like we hit a tree and ended up upside down,” she said.

Fire-rescue teams that have been working at the site of the Surfside condo collapse for nearly a month straight will hand off the search for survivors to police, Miami-Dade County announced Friday, according to reports.
The search for bodies at the site of the collapsed condo officially concluded on Friday. The collapse killed 97, with at least one more missing person yet to be identified.
With the rubble having been moved offsite, police will now take over the search for remains and belongings, the Miami Herald reported.

Former California Senator Barbara Boxer was assaulted and robbed in Oakland’ Jack London Square neighborhood on Monday.
Boxer, 80, was pushed in her back and the assailant stole her cell phone then took off in a getaway car.
