Biden Sets a New Sanctions Policy That

Joe Biden is quietly implementing a drastic, dangerous, and many would argue naïve change in foreign policy toward recalcitrant states such as Iran and Russia. As part of a new approach to sanctions, built more around time-consuming collaboration and consultation with allies, Biden is already easing some existing strictures with no matching quid pro quos. Some Iranians have already been removed from Treasury sanction lists with no new commitments to negotiate. Relieving those sanctions unilaterally is intended by the Democrat president as a sign of goodwill and allied collaboration. Biden clearly hopes that will lead to a

There seems to be a stubborn sector of our officialdom desperately seeking to prolong our latent fear of that virus from you-know-where and extend government’s Covid controls. The latest is that evil D.V. (Delta Variant). Well, good news. Perhaps you’ve noticed at the convenience store, in the post office, the break room. That pathetic effort of restoring government controls is failing. Crumbling might be a better word for it. [Snip] I was walking out of a post office one morning back then with a large, newly-received parcel when an elderly woman, her eyes wide with fear, flattened herself against the wall and yelled, “It can live on surfaces for 48 hours!”

Joe Biden was attempting to show how on the ball he is this week at a briefing on the nation’s wildfire situation. It didn’t work. Biden was meeting with Western governors so he could be seen talking about the annual phenomenon of wildfires and how awful they are and how we must do everything to stop them, even though that just makes future ones worse. “We know this is becoming a regular cycle,” the president said. [Snip] There is so much so very ignorant about what Joe Biden said. First, wildfire is not becoming a regular cycle. It already is. Has been forever

It was an iconic moment, George W. Bush at his authentic best talking to rescue workers and a shocked America from atop a heap of 9/11 rubble. Just three days after those awful sights of collapse and death the president stood there, arm around a firefighter, bullhorn in hand. Someone yelled, “Can’t hear you.” “I hear you!” said the commander-in-chief, “The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.” Loud cheers ensued at the site and far beyond. The cheering has long since died, replaced by

YouTube deleted a video of former President Donald Trump from the American Conservative Union’s account and prevented the group from live-streaming the former president’s Sunday CPAC speech. In a statement, ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp said the group learned that its account had been frozen for seven days over a video from Friday in which Mr. Trump announces his class-action lawsuit against the Silicon Valley titans such as Google and YouTube. That loss of access to its video account meant the ACU, which runs the Conservative Political Action Conference, could not upload Mr. Trump’s speech or any other live content from its CPAC 2021 Part 2

Do we really want a nationwide federal police force accountable solely to a small number of legislators, not subject to FOIA and other citizen protections applicable to the executive branch? The Acting Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police has recently announced the expansion of their federal force into Florida and California. Two new field offices will be opening in Tampa and San Francisco, due to claims from Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman that the number of threats against sitting Congressmen has doubled in the last year. However, this isn’t D.C.’s first effort to implement a new national police force.

As we previously reported there are thousands out in the streets across Cuba, from small towns to big cities, calling for freedom from the Communist government and chanting “we are not afraid!” People are saying it’s the largest mass protest since 1959. If you know your Cuban history, that’s the last time the government changed hands — when Fidel Castro took power. So, that’s an incredibly significant thing to say. From NY Times: Carolina Barrero, a Cuban activist, went even further. “It is the most massive popular demonstration to protest the government that we have experienced in Cuba since ’59,”
