A New York-based campaign is drawing attention to prominent New Yorkers whose names are emblazoned on streets, schools, and storefronts and who it says had ties to slavery. The campaign - called 'Slavers of New York' - says there are at least 500 sites that feature the names of figures who owned slaves. Many of the slaveowners date from the 17th century when New York was New Amsterdam, including colonial governor Peter Stuyvesant and the Cortelyou family. The group comprises artists, educators, activists and researchers, said Ada Reso, campaign co-founder. It places stickers through Brooklyn to draw attention to the mostly unknown

Shouldn't blacks have something (a ring, perhaps, or a pendant) that indicates whether or not they have "ties to slavery" (i.e., some forebear(s) were in fact slaves). That would vastly simplify the task of identifying who deserves reparations...

No sane or rational people would hack at its foundations to see it crash down into smithereens. We all know the history... of our Republic which of course was not created until long after colonists and settlers arrived, from many countries. The Brits brought in the slaves whom they bartered for or bought from African slave traders. Perhaps an enterprising person will put up stickers labeling the Dems as the Party of slavery, civil war to keep it, Jim Crow and the KKK and how it was tough to get enough Dems to finally vote for civil rights acts. The media won't inform the public, we have to find other ways. This self-hatred exercise is unhealthy and dangerous. Frankly, it seems cruel, very cruel, to focus on part of this nation's past with the intention of stirring up pain and wrath . Then, meanwhile, people have struggled to get here from all over the world, virtually every country. These racists are the worst of them all. It's time to label the haters as "persona non grata" and invite them to leave.

Did you know that of the 10.7 million African slaves taken to the new world, only 388,000 went to North America? That importation to the USA was outlawed in 1808? Brazil and Portugal (and African Bantu) kept up the trade until 1886? That there were more Irish slaves forcibly imported (now called indentured servants) than African to the USA? And, yes, they were slaves despite modern efforts to recast them. That the indentured servants were set free only upon the passage of the 13th Amendment? (If they were free, why mention them in the 13th?) That Biden’s Delaware was among the last states to free the slaves?

Some of my ancestors owned slaves. I am duly ashamed that they had a hand in bringing them to the US. We would be a far better and wealthier country if we hadn’t imported thousands of Africans here.

How about this group go next door to Connecticut and shut down Yale University? The ultra-leftwing shiitehole was founded by Eli Yale, a slave trader whose ill-gotten cash was used in part to finance the university. Throw all of the administration, faculty and students out and turn it into section 8 housing - it’s only fair.

When you live and breathe with the thought of slavery you become a slave and rot on the inside. Blacks and the cancel culture just keep moving forward with no end to their madness. Will our countries history just die there's no satisfying these people. Off topic, yesterday I watched a history video of a Civil War battle. In one of the stills was a dead Confederate soldier lying barefoot with his musket across him. My first thought was that man was not fighting about slavery probably dirt poor and never owned a slave in 1863 there were other reasons he fought a gave his life but it wasn't slavery.
