President Joe Biden on Wednesday called for the education system to be expanded from 12 years to 14 years for all Americans to make the US more competitive on a global scale. His speech in Illinois drew about 100 protesters holding signs supporting Donald Trump. McHenry County, where Biden made his remarks, went for the former president in the 2020 election. One large sign read: 'Make America Proud Again.' Biden's focus during his daylong trip is on his plan for free childcare and the education component of his 'human' infrastructure package that he will push to pass Congress without Republican votes. In addition to his call for more, free education,

Well sure, let's just double-down and increase the number of years our young people can spend wasting their time in the morass of public education! There's already so much fat in the existing 12 years....I propose we cut off 2 years instead. It shouldn't take more than 10 years to cover all the content that's now being drawn out over 12!

If you got rid of all of the PC garbage like CRT, gender identity, and all of the other liberal Marxist indoctrination stuff;; they could do it in the normal12 years or less. If they want to be competitive with the rest of the world,, teach reading, writing, math, science, and history (real history, not PC version). Except students to learn, not feel good.

No amount of institutional changes can overcome a student’s home life. The family – not the school system – is the only path forward in maintaining the greatest society and country in the world. Money has never been, nor will it ever be, the solution to public education. Ultimately, student and school success have nothing (little) to do with the schools themselves and everything to do with the families from where the students originate.

The dumbing down in k-12 education must not be effective enough. Remember when people were either self-taught or taught at home or church? Oh, the good ole days. "Bring back the days of yeah and nay. When people could plainly see the way." God seems to be punishing America with these fools running things; it also seems He's punishing these fools by allowing them to run things and manifest their depravity and foolishness. "Esau have I hated."

Hop in the Wayback Machine and figure out how education was being done in the 50’s and put that curriculum in the classroom today updating it only for scientific advances. Revert back to the discipline that was used then. Mandate that teachers dress professionally and students adhere to a strict dress code or uniform. Begin class the after Labor Day and go to the first of June with no extended Spring break. Use A through F grading system and cut out teaching to the required tests. Do one basic assessment test a year. Require students pass a Civics, Government and Economics class in order to graduate. Require recess in the morning and afternoon in K through 6. Bring back Shop and Home Ec classes. Put an armed Police Officer in every school. Break up the Teachers Unions. Fire anyone who brings their personal politics into the classroom, no exceptions. Do these things and children will learn, be better students, and actually be prepared to graduate. I know this would never happen today, but the difference these few suggestions would make in the quality of education would be astounding.
What O’Biden’s objective was in this speech is to promise throw more money at the population we do not have to appease the rumbling that is being heard in Washington. Democrats know they are reviled and Americans are feeling the pain from their insane agenda. They have to do something to get people on board and what better way than to pay them to settle down and go along with their program. We are being held hostage by a party who cheated to get into power and have made a total mess of every good thing that President Trump did for the country and its citizens. Democrats are vindictively reversing every policy decision mad by President Trump. One example, President Trump worked hard to get the cost of Insulin down for the many diabetics that take it and Biden reversed that. Who does that kind of thing? Millions are being affected. Where is the compassion? Nothing supersedes the democrats desire to erase every positive policy that President Trump put into place. This kind of behavior is reprehensible. It is so “mean girlish” and beneath contempt. Biden’s only motivation is to destroy President Trump’s legacy while tightening the hold the democrat party has on each and everyone of us. They have cheated to achieve what they have and now we will feel the pain. Because of these irresponsible giveaways, we will just achiever hyper-inflation sooner than later. Welcome to Democrat Paradise.

Two things were left out of #18's brilliant post although included by implication. Bring back the two, almost the only two motivating factors for me in grade school: 1) The threat of summer school if I didn't test at grade level. 2) The very real threat of flunking and being held back, I came damned close in 3rd grade. Actually those stinking tests saved me.

Looks like #19 is the only one who caught on that the extra 2 years is fully the brain child of Dr. Jill. She was a community college administrator so that extra 2 years would guarantee federal funding for all community colleges. Not bad for when she has to return to her old gig when Joe is put out to pasture...hopefully sometime this year when the audits confirm "the steal".

This is the quintessential Lefty response to everything -- it's not working, so we need more of it. It's so predictable that it's laughable.
Also, the who idea share two characteristics of all Lefty ideas which, not coincidentally, are all bad: First, it floods Lefty voters with more money. That's two more yeas of money flowing into the school systems run by Marxists. Second, it has easily anticipated adverse consequences that never get considered or discussed. What does it do to military recruitment? Service industry staffing? Having more empty-headed "adults" with access to more minors?

Let's not assume that it is two extra years tacked on to High School.
No ... it's mandatory government indoctrination two years EARLIER that he's really talking about. They're finding out when they get their hands on your kids at 5 or 6 it's too late! The little stinkers have already started to read the Bible, pray to their God, obey mom & dad, respect grandma and grandpa, love the flag, etc.
Can't have that!
We need to brain-wash your kids starting at 4! Mandatory schooling or you're under arrest if you don't send your kid in to the indoctrination center ... just like China! Plus we'll need more teachers.

There are some kids who do not belong in school the 11th and 12th year. They will only disrupt community colleges. Community colleges are extremely affordable today. They're a great idea, allowing most students to commute from home and maintain local employment if they wish. I don't see a real need to make them free. Additional grants could be made for anyone with extreme hardship.

I'm sure this idea originated from doctor Jill and the teachers union. Have they checked the drop out rates in the last few years? It's an increasing and staggering number. Of course, all these new Illegal immigrant children will become another factor in the growing drop out rate in the next decade. The chance for the American dream is almost impossible for the drop out class. They become susceptible to drugs, gangs and anti American groups. Basically, It all goes back to the break of the family. That's the root cause for 80% of most problems. Instead of adding two years required to graduate from high school, how about giving young folks an incentive to enlist in the military in their senior year to earn their HS diploma, instead of dropping out.

We do not need two more years in high school and free college. The purpose is to lower the unemployment rate. The American schools are rated at 21 below all the other schools around the world, math being the lowest element. We need to teach children, not politically indoctrinate them. Get rid of unions within the schools are restrict their negotiation range. School boards fear the unions or are in bed with the unions and that is not good for the school system. People should be able to send children to charter schools, schools sponsored by religion, or public schools. School uniforms should be the norm.

As usual, it's always how can they expand government reach.
It's why Kamala can't solve the border crisis, there is no easy program to offer that would expand the size and scope of government.
What I propose is they expand the total hours of instruction each day by 2-4 hours, since they want to have all of these additional subject being taught.
Watch how little support they get from the teachers who would have to work MORE hours each day, and it would be expected taxpayers would be required to fork over more money for the additional instructional hours.
Or, simply make school year-round instruction with 2 weeks off in the Summer, and the normal other holiday's off.
After all, in colleges, staff and administration work all year round, whereas the professors are off during the summers. So, they have the template established.
