NYTimes sparks July 4 outrage

The New York Times sparked fireworks with an Independence Day report on the political implications of displaying the American flag—just weeks after being forced to defend an editorial writer who said she was “really disturbed” to see Old Glory flown by supporters of former President Donald Trump. The Times article—with the online headline “A Fourth of July Symbol of Unity That May No Longer Unite”—suggests that Trump supporters have embraced the flag “so fervently” that liberals have “all but ceded the national emblem to the right.”(Snip)“What was once a unifying symbol–there is a star on it for each state, after all

Comments:

The hammer and sickle, or maybe the Antifa banner or a queer pride flag, on the other hand would be embraced by many. Neat trick, subverting and taking control of a nation without firing a shot.

This is nothing new. It became obvious to me before 9/11 that liberals do not fly the American flag. They secretly (not so much anymore) despise it and those of us that love it and display our love of America by flying it. 9/11 changed that for a month or so, or at least the left faked it for a few weeks because at that time, it was political suicide to slam the USA. I wish those that were "alienated" by our flag would find another country to reside in - perhaps one that has already gone to the dark side. Happy Independence day, may we survive at least another 245 years.

Oh, please. If Trump and his supporters are to blame then please explain to us how it was that there was not a single American flag at Hillary’s convention until someone on the right pointed it out and they scrambled to find some. Trump was not president at the time and the left was certain that the Beast would win.

If they were in a foreign country and had some trouble, they would be running to the U.S. embassy or consulate and feel relief when they saw that flag waving. Then they'd blame the flag all over again when they realized that the embassies did not exist to hold their hands or save them from their own stupid behavior.

Austin, Texas—Republican Allen West, the former Florida congressman and firebrand who rode into office on the tea party wave a decade ago, said Sunday that he will run for governor of Texas in a bid to again seize on restless anger from the right. His odds are far longer this time around: Republican Gov.
