Allen West to challenge Greg Abbott in
Republican primary for Texas governor

Original Article

Austin, Texas—Republican Allen West, the former Florida congressman and firebrand who rode into office on the tea party wave a decade ago, said Sunday that he will run for governor of Texas in a bid to again seize on restless anger from the right. His odds are far longer this time around: Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is up for a third term and may also be eyeing a 2024 presidential bid, has already locked up the endorsement of Donald Trump–whose voters West would need to have any shot at winning a GOP primary in Texas. The hurdles don’t stop there.

Comments:

Perhaps this threat from the right explains Gov. Abbott's sudden interest in securing the border and other things he should have been handling the entire time.

GEEZE! Abbott is not a leader and has followed Florida's Governor DeSantis move in all his freedom and liberty decisions. He disappointed may Texans by allowing the mask mandate when it proved hazardous to everyone's health. It is now time for him to step down gracefully!

Abbott has serious problems with anyone who looks beyond eyewash. He has been weak on COVIDS, electrical power and the border. Look past the headlines and loud talk and there’s nothing there to see. If he survives West he’ll be damaged goods. Watch for Matthew McConneghy to eventually jump in third party.

I like Abbott, but I am also in favor of term limits. Abbott has served long enough and I am willing to consider someone else. If a candidate wants my consideration, I want to hear what can be done with higher education. There have been GOP governors long enough now to appoint every position on every university board of regents, so why do we still have liberals in charge of Texas universities?

In the beginning of Our End, Rep. Allen West was seen to be one of the first to speak out regarding Commies, BO, and and the devious FBI. He pulled the wool from the entire cabal at that time. Abbott will find himself in a weak situation should West hold firm on his decision. Abbott, though not against the citizens of Texas, can't specifically say he has worked in showing us he is definitely for America. Abbott's shortcomings are abundant. He should have been stronger. West, full of fight, certainly would be considered when pulling the lever. (Beto, eat your heart out!)

No. I think you have to do more to be Governor of Texas than move here. Allen West has a political base of zero in Texas, and is little known. Every year, Texans have many people announce for Governor. We must have the craziest candidates of anywhere. They think to be Governor, you just have to have opinions.

At this point, I know enough about my own state's politics to know that running for Governor is showboating. The Texas governor does not have as much power as the Lt. Governor, and there are plenty who are lined up for committees that escape notice. Abbott has certainly been weak, but no one has paid much attention to Dan Patrick, who USED to be quite a bit more conservative than Abbott, but since quite a number of activists Democrats have become heads of committees, I'm not sure that having a conservative governor is going to matter much. When you have state agencies like the Texas Ethical Commission, and supposedly "Republican" state reps like Jeff Leach acting to target genuine and effective conservatives, why bother which political affiliation a governor has? I highly suggest my fellow Texans sign up for Michael Quinn Sullivan's news letter. He'll report things you wont see in the Austin American Statesman or the Houston Chronicle.

Those of Joe Biden’s public behaviors that align with classic dementia symptoms are escalating. In the past few days, he strongly exhibited two symptoms: A type of belligerence that’s a cover-up for confusion and memory loss and a paranoid fear of those in charge of him. I used to spend a lot of time in the company of doctors. What always fascinated me were the tales they told of dealing with patients with early-stage dementia. The most interesting point they made was that elderly people, so as not to lose face or admit their own fears, are superb at deflecting the questions aimed at assessing their cognitive skills and memory.
