Pelosi cancels the Fourth of July

Original Article

During an average year, the U.S. Capitol welcomes 2.5 million visitors, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has refused to reopen the Capitol to visitors — school groups, families, or anyone hoping to see the legislative branch in action. To make matters worse, Pelosi’s refusal even to allow visitors on the Capitol grounds resulted in the outdoor concert regularly held on the Capitol’s west front to celebrate our nation’s independence being canceled. What could have been a unifying celebration of our Independence Day and defeat of COVID-19 will instead be virtual performances streamed online.

Aren't we all completely fed up with this sort of mealy-mouthed, gentle, civil plea? The Wicked Witch has a tyrannical, iron grip on everything, including the physical properties, and the best anyone can do is present her with a reasoned entreaty? Does Rep. Davis actually think he will persuade her to change her mind with this? Conclusion of the article: "This Independence Day, we should be reminded of our responsibility to the people to run this place like our Founding Fathers intended. The Capitol should be open to the people. Americans should be able to petition their government without being limited to a group of five. And members should be required to vote in person as the Constitution requires. The restrictions being put on the first branch of government by Democrats should worry every American, especially when these “pandemic” reforms become permanent. Speaker Pelosi, it’s time to open the Capitol."

Yes, the way they unite, get behind a mike and denounce the dark and foreboding place Washington D.C. now is! I like their leadership in suggesting to Americans they ho out and celebrate the Fourth like never before! s/off

D.C. doesn't represent anything of what America is supposed to be, it's the exact opposite. The museums are ok. A visit to the National Archives is an absolute must if one happens to find one's self in D.C. The founding documents are on full display for anyone to see. It's a little dark for a reason, and some of the writing on the documents are difficult to read because they are fading with age, but if standing in front of those documents doesn't run chills up and down your spine, your not a real American. It should also make one made as hell at the people running this country, and put one in a fighting mood. Do some background study on what these horrible old white men had to put on the line before signing their names to those documents, and compare them to what absolute garbage we have representing us now.

Legal constitutionalists and political conservatives have had reason to be disappointed at times with the Roberts Court, but today is not one of those days. The Court concluded its 2020-21 term with a pair of 6-3 rulings written by George W. Bush’s appointees (Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito) and joined by all six Republican appointees to the Court. Both reached the right conclusions. Both will advance the progress of the law toward a vibrant space for democracy, by protecting free speech and free and fair elections.

Fifty-eight of the service members who fought in the battle will see their awards upgraded to Silver Stars while the other two will be upgraded to Distinguished Flying Crosses, according to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. "On the afternoon of Oct. 3, [1993] armed militants shot down two MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, after which U.S. ground forces converged on the two downed aircraft to recover the personnel," an Army press release read. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., refused to answer a question about "Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar’s, D-Minn., most recent inflammatory statements about Israel and her Jewish Democratic colleagues. During her weekly press conference Thursday, a reporter asked Pelosi a question regarding Omar’s comments this week during an interview, in which Omar stood by her comparison of the U.S. and Israel to internationally recognized terror groups Hamas and the Taliban, and blamed her Jewish colleagues for forcing her to walk back the comments. Pelosi interrupted the reporter during and waved off the question, saying, "let’s stay with this" and that she would "answer that afterward."
Is Harvard Sacrificing Science for Wokeness? 16 replies

There is a cultural shift underway affecting all aspects of American life. Though hard to define, it usually takes the form of an emphasis on what is known variously as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), critical race theory, wokeness, anti-racism, and the like. Several scholars and writers have been raising the alarm about its anti-intellectual and illiberal aspects. Heather Mac Donald has shown how it has permeated the university. Is there reason to be suspicious? One might suspect that the new ideology only affects intrinsically political areas of study, such as Government and History. But in fact it has infected every area, even science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Bill Cosby’s sex assault conviction was overturned by Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Wednesday. The actor, 83, was released from prison after the court ruled that the prosecutor who brought the case was bound by his predecessor's agreement not to charge Cosby. Philip Dube, a Los Angeles County deputy public defender who was not involved in the case, told Fox News that the comedian – once dubbed "America's Dad" – was released because he was "denied due process and the benefit of an immunity agreement reached between him and prosecutors during civil litigation brought by his victims."

Rep. Ilhan Omar's latest remarks about Israel and Jewish members of Congress have sparked backlash, as the Minnesota Democrat expressed zero regret for comparing Israel to Hamas and the Taliban. In a CNN interview on Tuesday, Omar said she does not regret her tweet from earlier this month in which she lumped Israel, the U.S., Hamas, and the Taliban together. When asked if she knows why fellow Democrats – particularly Jews – found previous comments of hers about Israel to be anti-Semitic, Omar accused them of not being "partners in justice" while claiming that she herself "knows what it feels like to experience injustice in ways that many

Proponents of Critical Race Theory are resorting to semantic gaslighting to defend a dogma that most Americans instinctively abhor. Some pundits claim that CRT is exclusively a school of thought taught in legal academia. On her MSNBC show, Joy Reid claimed that “law school is really the only place it is taught. NBC has looked into everywhere.” Former Lincoln Project co-founder George Conway tweeted: “I don’t think critical legal studies should be taught in elementary schools, and I am ready to die on that hill[.]” Some journalists, informed by other “experts,” contend that CRT is synonymous with “talking about racism.” NPR defined CRT as “teaching about the effects of racism”;

Adherents of radical feminism are five decades into a powerful campaign that seeks to shape the way American women think. Politics, fashion, Hollywood, academia, and media propagate a singular vision of womanhood, relying on savvy use of optics, messaging, and even make-up. These radical feminists have done a remarkable job of silencing or sidelining their critics. Ironically, whether they know it or not, feminists’ unspoken premise insists men are superior to women and women must become like them in the pursuit of equality. Therefore, to be equal, women must be able to eliminate the consequences of sex, like men, and rid themselves of unborn children through unrestricted abortion.

The whisper campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris has its origins among White House aides who increasingly see her as incapable of defeating any Republican challenger in 2024, including Donald Trump. Recent missteps and gaffes by Harris at the border and with reporters have top Democrats worried that Harris simply isn’t up to the task of heading the Democratic ticket if Biden — who will be 81 if he runs — decides to stand aside. It’s not just the gaffes. Biden aides have been undermining Harris’s authority in her own office, using recent revelations about its dysfunction to raise serious questions about her competence and temperament.

Those of Joe Biden’s public behaviors that align with classic dementia symptoms are escalating. In the past few days, he strongly exhibited two symptoms: A type of belligerence that’s a cover-up for confusion and memory loss and a paranoid fear of those in charge of him. I used to spend a lot of time in the company of doctors. What always fascinated me were the tales they told of dealing with patients with early-stage dementia. The most interesting point they made was that elderly people, so as not to lose face or admit their own fears, are superb at deflecting the questions aimed at assessing their cognitive skills and memory.
