A former New York administrative judge resigned and apologized Friday over a Halloween costume he wore in 1988 of “a well-known public figure of color,” according to a press release.
Former administrative judge Craig Doran said he resigned as administrative judge for the Rochester region when a photo from a Halloween party reportedly was circulated. The statement didn’t say who Doran dressed up as.
“I did not comprehend at the time the hurtful nature of my actions,” Doran said in a statement. “I know now that an act of this nature is considered to be racist.

Who exactly did he hurt? What a stupid man for quitting. What kind of judge was he anyway? Meanwhile, xiden is the real deal; he's an old school racist. He's made racist comments as late as 2021. He authored, sponsored, and voted for bills that put a lot of people in jail, but nobody's listening. Republicans accept the premise that white supremacists belong to their party instead of telling the historical truth about them. Resign Republicans, resign. Ya dummies!

The Governor of Virginia did not resign for his black face costume so why should this judge. I forgot, the Governor of Virginia is a democrat. #1 is correct, only republicans resign.

At the time his actions were not of a hurtful nature. The woke culture of today judges every other time in history based on their values of today. Unfortunately their value judgements are based on ignorance of history, a complete lack of a sense of cultural and historical context, and no sense of empathy or thought of what the intent of the guilty offender might have been. To them it is racism and can be nothing else, case closed, no excuse. Perhaps he felt he was honoring this particular "person of color." Now the Woke are all mind readers and can discern our intent, not only today, but 30-40 years ago or more. Centuries even, as in the case of Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers.

His 1988 political party, if any, is not mentioned in the article.
He said “I did not comprehend at the time the hurtful nature of my actions.” Neither did anyone else. Why does he assume anyone was offended? Did anyone accost him and say, "Craig, you're a racist."
People wore blackface in harmless fun; not to hurt anyone's feelings. No one was offended. Blackface was not often used. It was one among many other concurrently worn outfits: pirate, cowboy, Indian, police officer, locomotive engineer, etc.
No one should resign from their chosen profession because years ago he or she wore blackface.
Suffer the slings and arrows of all detractors. Resigning is caving to these BS cancel culture fascists.
In these cases is there nothing akin to a Statue of Limitations for the alleged faux crime of wearing blackface?
In 1927 great beloved performer, Al Jolson, (who was Jewish) wore blackface in the famous motion picture, "The Jazz Singer." It was a huge hit. No one thought Al Jolson or the movie were racist.
ENOUGH of resigning because of this blackface BS!

Question: if you once wore a costume as a box of Cream of Wheat, which was a large cardboard replica of the product box but with a hole cut out to stick your face in, where the Cream of Wheat persons' picture was, but you did NOT use black face, would that be considered bad?
I truly don't know.

Being a weak willed is never a resume enhancer, but he was probably close to retirement anyway, so why bother trying to explain your choice of costume from thirty years ago.

No, seriously, don't ya love the thought process here? "Since my judge showed poor judgement in halloween costumes 33 years ago, he can't possibly fairly preside over my trial today, so I am innocent and you must let me go free." Thus, the judge has to resign, since inevitability, every defendant would appeal based on the notion that this judge is racially biased.
My theory on why OTHER judges would allow such appeals is that since every judge was once a lawyer, and lawyers make money by trying cases, this is simply a matter of judges keeping the money pipeline flowing for the whole lawyering profession. There's a reason why 60% of the world's lawyers are in the USA and why more kids are in law school now than are currently practicing. It's where the $$$ is.

Years ago, I was a celebrating a friends birthday in his back yard. During the festivities, Hector's mother hoisted a pinata (I can't put that squiggly line above the "n") from the branch of a tree. Soon, I found myself blindfolded, and in possession of a baseball bat. I was rather disoriented the result of not being able to see combined with being a little bit drunk (OK, a LOT drunk). Anyhow, people were shouting "swing" and my mood was overtaken by the raucous, chanting crowd. I began whipping that bat around like a madman possessed. The crowd was going wild which served an incentive to try even harder. At some point, overcome with dizziness and excitement, I struck that damn pinata as I stumbled into the tree. When I regained consciousness, there was candy and blood splattered around the immediate area. Two girls were crying and my best friend was howling in laughter. A few moments later, I yakked.
This morning, as I look back on that on that rite of passage, I realize the heavy contribution I made to promoting drunken violence among youngsters everywhere. That single event is likely responsible for the expanding antifa and BLM movements.
I'm sorry. I made a mistake. I will forever regret the fact that I wasn't able to hook up with Gabriella that fateful day (I wonder whatever happened to her).

#4, Virginia’s attorney general, Mark Herring, did the same thing and he’s still in office. And then there’s the Lieutenant governor who has been accused of rape twice by very believable women yet gets a pass due to his melanin content.

In 1988, it probably wouldn't be considered hurtful if you were doing it out of respect for the original.
Nowadays, if a white man sneezes, it's RACIST!!

In 1988 no one was offended now in 2021 all minority groups from racist to perverts can cancel you. The judge should not apologized or resigned. This is ridiculous.

A "well known public figure of color" at Halloween in 1988? My guess would be Michael Jackson. But then the "color" would be debatable.
Shouldn't Halloween costumes be exempt from the woke mob's ire?

Thirty-three years ago and a picture comes back to bite him. Somebody had it in for this guy and did a lot of digging to find it. They used to call Bill Clinton "the first black president." Can he be dishonored for accepting the title or do you actually have to smear your face with something?

What nonsense!
At a Halloween party, 33 years ago, somebody dressed up like a person of color. Bet that person of color doesn't even know the judge exists.
This is absurd! I want to know why the judge would not even defend themselves. Was this a veiled threat to release serious dirt on the person? Or are they just a wimp? Perhaps they decided the job wasn't worth the abuse, retired, and laughed all the way to the bank.

If you are going to dress up as a "person of color" choose Clarence Thomas or any black conservative. Not only will you not get in any trouble but the imitated republican will laugh.

His statement, as edited by the Cynic: "I'm sorry you're so thin-skinned. I'm sorry that you think a white guy going out on Halloween as any character but white is racist. I'm sorry that you're a hypocrite and won't apply the same standard to people of your own color. I'm sorry that I don't have any more time for your idiocy, as I have to get back to my job as a Judge."

Meanwhile, the current President's son has used racial slurs in text messages. The current President uses racists stereotypes on a constant basis, and used slurs on the house floor while he was a Senator. Current congresswomen have said some disgusting anti-Semitic things publicly. A sitting Senator is a proud member of an all-white beach club. But ignore all of that, nothing to see here.
