On August 1, 1988, Missouri-born radio commentator Rush Limbaugh launched "The Rush Limbaugh Show" on a handful of radio affiliates. On February 2, 2021 –unbeknownst at the time to his now-650 affiliates and millions of listeners –Limbaugh took to the airwaves for the last time.
The beloved, yet at times controversial, radio titan died February 17 at age 70 after a battle with lung cancer. On Friday, "The Rush Limbaugh Show" – which began when Ronald Reagan was president, Checkpoint Charlie divided democracy from autocracy, and the Soviet Union still existed – will end in the only form it has known since.

I still miss him every day, but I am glad he did not live to see the destruction Biden has wrought on this country.
Nonetheless, I am glad that others will take his time slot. The past few months of guest hosts and replays has become tiring and not worthy of Rush's legacy. There is no one who will ever replace him!

I liked what Glenn Beck said: Rush is the reason cars still have AM radios.

Yes, the end of an era. The mourning period must come to an end and the infamous intro music to the Rush Limbaugh program must now be retired as must the long line of guest hosts.
Best of luck to Clay Travis and Buck Sexton. Guys, just be yourselves and see where the show takes you.
And don't try to be the new Rush Limbaughs. Because no one can.

Maharushi was a one-of-a-kind, brilliant, comedic genius who entertained and enlightened millions across the fruited plain. We love you, Rush, and miss you terribly.

Such bittersweet feelings...
I think Buck and Clay will do just fine, and I'm looking forward to their new show.

Rush is the one man, outside of relatives, that I've had the longest, meaningful relationship. RIP Rush!

I am underwhelmed. I will always miss Rush. I hope some radio channel or internet site will run his old programs at some point. What is true and sensible will always be appreciated, like the Undeniable Truths of Life.

Another sad day without Rush. He was just the best and I can’t put it any better than previous posters.
I was very disappointed to see the Paul Shanklin will not be part of the new group. His parodies were absolutely the best.

One of the great pleasures I enjoyed during my many years as an arbitrator, which required miles and miles of driving, was to find Rush on a radio station, no matter where I was.
He was one of a kind.

We had to move 3 times due to work, we'd move to cities where I didn't know a soul, but all I needed to do was turn on the radio at Noon and I was home, listening to my buddy, laughing and learning everyday. I miss him very very much. I'm sad that he is gone but oh so grateful to have had him in my life even if it was over the airways. Mega Dittos El Rushbo.

Yes, it’s time to move on. I cannot listen to old clips of Rush. It hurts too much. We lost something that was priceless. Rush was the leader of the conservative movement, and his loss is almost unbearable. I have to believe he is watching over us, helping in ways that we could never comprehend.

I think we owe Ken, Todd and Brett a debt of thanks for the yeomen's work they did over the last few very sad months. And I hope everyone here and across the fruited plain gives these two new fellows a fair hearing. I'm sure they are going to be working very hard to provide a quality show, and believe that is what our beloved Rush would want us to do.

There will NEVER be another Rush!!!!!! And here in the East at least, Buck Sexton sells his name for everything from coffee to........I can name about five products he "endorses" so as to trust in him......? Can't imagine what EIB is thinking....I know they need to fill the space but the thought that these two can do it is beyond ludicrous. Again, there will NEVER be another Rush!!!! Miss him terribly.

The noon to 3 PM time slot still seems like I should have the radio on.
I am proud to have been a "Dittohead" since the Clinton years--and Rush, I always will be one.

The end of an Era. As Rush often teased "The Era of Limbaugh". He blazed the trail for the explosion of talk radio, and the many hosts which came from his setting the example with winning ratings for three decades. He truly was "The Greatest of All Time". In the early years, he was brash and irreverant, and controversial, but no one can question his sphere of influence and importance in spreading the Truth in this age or media propaganda and manipulation.
