Unofficial results show Austin’s Prop A failed;

AUSTIN -   A majority of Austin voters rejected Proposition A, which would have increased funding to the Austin Police Department. Latest figures released just before 11 p.m. Tuesday reported nearly 69% of Austin voters voted against Prop. A, while approximately 31% voted for the initiative.  CORRECTIONS*

Comments:

 Note well that there was little mention of mail-n votes or that George SOROS spent half a million dollars to DEFEAT supporting police protection. The campaign against was pitting the first responders against their law enforcement colleagues. Austin is lost, and far less safe as a result. Police officers are leaving in droves, and this will only increase the exodus...

Austin is a city in decline, shamefully so! Every other city in Texas, save Houston and San Antonio, actually like the United States and strive to save America from the Marxist attempt to take over our political system.

Good for Austin, soon to be the San Francisco of Texas. I'm just glad they built that high speed tollway around it so I don't have to deal with the traffic, and poo in the streets, when I drive to San Antonio. Maybe people will start moving out of there and the Leander ISD can stop dominating the State Marching Band Competition.

For background, Austin defunded it's police force a year ago and has the all time highest murder rate in city history this year. I'm happy I moved to a suburb of Austin years ago but it's still too close.

When I see all the California license plates going through my little western town heading east toward Texas they must be relocating in Austin. Keeping Austin weird can add dangerous to that saying. I avoid that city when I'm in Texas.

This came down to the "anti A" people having deep pockets. I live in Austin, and I can't tell you how many people didn't realize that this was on the ballot to increase police spending. It was worded terribly on the ballot, and the "anti A" people used their massive funding advantage to frame it as "taking money away from parks and libraries". But what good is having nice parks and libraries if you are too scared of the massive crime in this city to go to them?!?!?!? We will be out of this lie-beral cesspool within a year. Not soon enough!!!

Again, proof that Texas needs a border wall. Around its northern, eastern, and western borders. And a cattle guard around Austin to keep the liberals corralled.

The White House announced late Friday that it would further postpone the release of more documents related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, pointing to the "significant impact" of the Covid-19 pandemic. President Joe Biden issued a memo that said the national archivist recommended he "'direct two public releases of the information that has ultimately 'been determined to be appropriate for release to the public.'" The first will be an "interim release" later this year, with a second, "more comprehensive release in late 2022," the memo said. The memo said that the Covid-19 pandemic has slowed down the process of reviewing whether redactions continue to meet the "statutory standard."

House Republicans on Monday night offered a detailed critique of what they called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “socialist wish list” in House Democrats’ $2.5 trillion proposal for responding to the coronavirus outbreak. “Speaker Pelosi unveiled legislation aimed at exploiting the COVID-19 public health crisis by attempting to force the inclusion of a socialist wish list of policies that have nothing to do with the public health and economic emergency,” said House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Louisiana Republican. After poring over the 1,400-page proposal, Mr. Scalise offered his characterization of Republicans’ objections to the following items:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s new stimulus bill would mandate nationwide “ballot harvesting,” allowing party operatives to return other people’s ballots to polling places without “any limit” on the number of ballots. “Ballot harvesting” was legalized in California in 2016, and first used in the 2018 midterm elections. It allows anyone to drop off someone else’s mail-in ballot at a polling station. There is no process for vetting or verifying those delivering the ballots — no background checks or identification requirements. Democrats dropped hundreds of thousands of ballots off at polling stations in 2018, helping Democrats as they flipped seven Republican seats.

Senate Democrats are trying to use a national emergency to force taxpayers to fund some of their most controversial and radical policies. They have recommended hundreds of millions of dollars in pork barrel funding — including $35 million in funding for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. It’s on page 76 of the massive document. Click here to read for yourself. Democrats did not explain how funding a fancy theater would help stop the spread of the coronavirus. But that amount pales in comparison to the $300 million allocated for the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s infamous pot-smoking incident last year prompted NASA to order a mandatory review of the federal contractor’s workplace culture — but taxpayers, not the company, are bearing the cost, according to contracting records reviewed by POLITICO. The space agency agreed to pay SpaceX $5 million in May to cover the cost of the review, which includes educating its employees and ensuring they are following strict guidelines for federal contractors barring illegal drug use. The decision which had not previously been reported, struck some space industry insiders as a highly unusual expenditure

The press has made a big deal about an argumentative leftist from San Francisco walking up to Ted Cruz and trying to browbeat him about the migrant surge..snip.. being in an airport line, Cruz could hardly walk away from her, so the up-close and quite possibly bad-breathed tirade went on and on. All of the press coverage focused on the airport line grandstander, Hillary Ronen, and her self-set narrative. notice that the film comes from her, and the filming didn't start midway into the encounter — it was filmed from the very start — so it appears the whole thing was planned.

The consensus view on the right is that Hillary Clinton was a primary reason for Donald Trump’s success in 2016. But not all conservatives agree about why that was. For devotees of the Trump-as-savior narrative, Clinton — and all the allegedly nefarious forces at her beck and call — was a uniquely formidable opponent. Defeating her required a different kind of Republican, one who’d be willing to fight as dirty and as tough as the Democrats. This was a “Flight 93 election,” and Trump was the hero we needed to storm the cockpit.
