Memphis' Juneteenth celebration is relocating from Robert Church Park in Downtown Memphis to Health Sciences Park in the Medical District, where the remains of Confederate Army General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife sit mostly unadorned. Juneteenth, sometimes referred to as "Emancipation Day," traces back to 1865 when a federal order ending slavery was read aloud in Galveston, Texas, two years after the actual Emancipation Proclamation and more than a month after the end of the Civil War.(Snip) Weeks later, a group of activists painted "Black Lives Matter" in bright yellow around the remains of the Forrests, which are still fenced off from the general public.

Lives will change for hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants Saturday, when the state Motor Vehicle Commission will begin accepting applications for driver’s licenses from people without federal immigration status. After years of political fights and months of delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, New Jersey will become the 14th state allowing the state’s 450,000 undocumented residents to obtain standard driver’s licenses and non-driver identification cards. Nearly 750,000 people will be affected by the law, which passed in December 2019 and will also benefit certain senior citizens, formerly incarcerated residents, transgender people whose documents may not match their given gender identity, domestic violence

Joe Biden's economic adviser pushed Sunday for a 'global minimum tax' for corporations in order to close loopholes in companies relocating overseas to circumvent rate hikes in the U.S. 'The idea is to make sure that corporations are paying their fair share,' Council of Economic Advisers chair Cecilia Rouse told 'Fox News Sunday.' 'To button up some of the loopholes, which have meant more corporations were actually putting more money offshore–off of U.S. soil,' she continued. 'And having a global minimum tax so that we're working with the rest of our trading partners, so that we're working with the rest of the world so that corporations

Border Patrol agents tracking a group of illegal immigrants in Texas Thursday ran over two of them, killing one man, authorities revealed Saturday. The two men were burrowed down in a field of tall grass when the vehicle struck them. Border Patrol officials say the agents weren’t aware of the people, and didn’t learn that anyone had been struck until the migrant who survived alerted them and pointed them back to his compatriot. The survivor was flown to a hospital in Harlingen, Texas, but was soon discharged with minor injuries. Agents were patrolling a smuggling corridor near Kingsville and were tracking footprints from a group.

Oceanside, N.Y.—A driver was arrested Saturday night after fleeing a traffic stop on Long Island and then reversing into a police car, injuring two officers, police said Sunday. According to authorities, when narcotics detectives tried to stop a gray Porsche in Oceanside around 9 p.m., the driver initially pulled over but then took off when officers approached the vehicle. Police later found the Porsche, and that’s when the driver put the vehicle in reverse and slammed into the detectives’ car at a high rate of speed, police said. Romaine Robinson, 25, was arrested at the scene after a brief struggle, authorities said.

Omaha, Neb.—Billionaire Warren Buffett warned people not to think investing is an easy way to make a fortune as he answered a variety of questions at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting Saturday. Buffett said it can be tough to pick the long-term winners. He pointed out that in 1903 there were more than 2,000 car companies, and nearly all of them failed even though cars have transformed the country since then.(Snip) Buffett said the stock trading platforms that allow people to buy and sell stocks for free, such as Robinhood, are only encouraging that gambling.

Biden administration officials on Sunday morning denied reports from Iranian state-run media that the U.S. and Britain have agreed to free up $7 billion in frozen Iranian funds in exchange for the release of American prisoners held in the Islamic republic. The contradictory claims come amid indirect talks between the countries in Vienna. The U.S. and Iran, along with Britain and other world powers, are aiming to resurrect the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which put limits on Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief. Former President Trump withdrew from that deal in 2018. President Biden has said he intends to

President Biden on Friday plugged his $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan at an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Amtrak, a company near and dear to the longtime rail commuter. “I’ve been riding Amtrak almost as long as there’s been an Amtrak,” said Mr. Biden, who famously commuted from Delaware to Washington, D.C., via rail when he was a U.S. senator. “Amtrak became my family.” He was speaking from a station in Philadelphia, Pa., where he says he ended up a handful of times after falling asleep. “In the past, when I’ve ended up at the 30th Street Station, Amtrak Station, it’s probably because

A controversial mural of George Floyd in Phoenix has been painted over.
The mural depicted Floyd's face on a $20 bill, with the hashtag '#the_price_of_black_lives' hanging above his head. The $20 bill was in reference to the counterfeit bill Floyd allegedly used on May 25, 2020, prior to his arrest and death at the hands of police officer Derek Chauvin, who was recently convicted of Floyd's murder.(Snip) The defeat came after some community activists decried the mural for its traumatizing capabilities and lack of input from black community members. 'This is a mural designed by white people that celebrates white violence,'

The same Obamas, Gores, Zuckerbergs, and others who sow fears about Our Rising Seas are also purchasing as much oceanfront property as they can. Democrat voters lack the capacity to question this, and so Failed USA will overhaul the economy to fight Climate Change, with the same people poised to profit from the remedies to a nonexistent problem.
