An elderly Mexican-American woman was badly beaten by a racist bus passenger who mistook her for an Asian-American, the victim's son said. She was attacked while on her way to go grocery shopping in Los Angeles' Eagle Rock neighborhood. Los Angeles police arrested 23-year-old Yasmine Beasley shortly afterwards on suspicion of the attack, KTLA 5 reported.(Snip) 'Nobody would help. Not even the bus driver,' Pete told The Eastsider.

A prominent activist who supports the Black Lives Matter movement has appeared to support violent protests, arguing that rioting and looting are 'a legitimate, politically-informed response to state violence'. Bree Newsome, 35, made the passionate remarks in a series of tweets this week, arguing that police are not limited to non-violence, and that a violent response to injustice can be appropriate and justified. Newsome, a filmmaker and activist on racial justice issues, famously scaled a flagpole at the South Carolina State House to tear down the Confederate battle flag in 2015. Weeks later, lawmakers ordered the divisive symbol's removal from the grounds.

Gino Fiebelkorn has taken to sleeping during the day, when the crowd outside his apartment is mostly camera crews and reporters. But by evening, he starts prepping for another night "in a war zone." He tapes up the back door frame of his garden-level apartment on Humboldt Avenue in Brooklyn Center—an attempt to keep out clouds of tear gas that have filled his neighborhood since Sunday night. And then he stations himself at the apartment building's back door, prepared to pull in injured protesters and ward off troublemakers.(Snip) "My place smells like smoke and there are times when it's hard to breathe,"

The FBI is investigating far-left Antifa radicals linked to violent attacks around the country, FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress on Thursday.
Mr. Wray was asked his views on whether Antifa, a leftist radical group that has triggered violent attacks in several U.S. cities, is an organized group.
“We consider Antifa to be more of a movement,” Mr. Wray said during an appearance before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. “There are certainly local and regional nodes, individuals who self-identify with Antifa who commit violent attacks, citing that as their motivation. And we have a number of predicated investigations into such individuals.”

Two crooks want to become mayor of Spring Valley in Rockland County—but only one is eligible to run, a state judge ruled Wednesday. In an only-in-New York story, former Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin, who was ensnared in a federal corruption scandal tied to former state Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, is running for her old job after serving four years in prison. Jasmin was found guilty in 2015 of mail fraud and extortion.
She got caught peddling her support for a local community center in exchange for $5,000 cash and 50-percent ownership in the development. But that’s only half the story.

Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, is one heck of a trader!
He purchased about $10 million in Microsoft shares through call options on March 19th when the stock was trading at $230.35. Days later, Microsoft was awarded a contract by the U.S. Army valued at $22 billion and inked a deal to buy an artificial intelligence firm. It’s stock has soared about 12% since Mr. Pelosi’s initial investment.(Snip) But Mr. Pelosi’s good fortunes don’t stop there. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is considering using federal funds to provide around $40 million in one-time stimulus payments to the state’s undocumented immigrants via executive action, according to five people familiar with the matter. Representatives from Murphy’s office suggested the figure during a conference call with immigration advocates on Tuesday.(Snip) The roughly $40 million figure—which would be funded through remaining federal CARES dollars—was a non-starter for advocates, who are seeking larger relief measures, such as $2,000 in direct stimulus payments to individuals and $600 in unemployment-like benefits. Sources said the 30-minute call grew “pretty heated” over the amount,

Could the locals try to solve the problems themselves, the same way every other town does, or must they whine about disparities and expect handouts, from FEMA, no less? If they uproot their town and plunk it down somewhere in Africa, white do-gooders and the UN would line up around the block to contribute.
