A group of House Democrats has asked President Joe Biden to take executive action on “concealable assault-style firearms,” citing two mass shootings in Atlanta and Boulder, Colorado, last month.
“Concealable assault-style firearms that fire rifle rounds pose an unreasonable threat to our communities and should be fully regulated under the National Firearms Act consistent with the intent and history of the law. The recent tragedy in Boulder, Colorado where 10 people including a police officer were killed is one in a string of deadly incidents involving this style of weapon,” Reps. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), Joe Neguse (D-Colo.), Val Demings (D-Fla.), and Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) said in a letter to Biden.

Democrat hoplophobes tend to be forehead slappingly ignorant about firearms. And yet they write unconstitutional legislation.

Funny, since the assault on America is coming from the Democrat/Media with no firearms (yet).

US Secretary of Transportation "Buttabeep, Buttaboop" (as Oprah calls him) would say many things are concealable if you're brave enough.

Why do we have a Congress of elected officials if the President can rule by executive action? What are they doing? Something is wrong with this picture!

If democrats really cared about “gun violence” (they don’t), they’d advance public policy to deter the greatest single predictor of future violent behavior among young men of all races - Fatherlessness.
But doing that would require undoing over half a century of subsidizing irresponsible procreation with our tax dollars and we can’t have that now can we, because that would thin out the the permanent underclass the democrat party needs to exploit to survive as a party.

If you are tall and wear a long raincoat you can conceal anything from a semi-automatic rifle to an elephant gun to a shoulder-fired SAM. These people keep biting at the ankles like the little yip dogs that they are. I would like to engage these House Democrats in a cage match and show them what can be done without a gun. (I hope that didn't sound too much like Hannity)

Colorado democrats Neguse and Perlmutter signed the letter. I expected to see Diana DeGette’s name on the list. She is a foremost expert on firearms, you know. /s.

What the heck is a concealable assault style weapon? A Mac10? One of those semi auto pistols with a magazine that holds over ten bullets? I don’t think an AR15 can be put in your pocket.

These Democrats are moving against AR "pistols," which can have a barrel as short as 7" (considerably reducing the muzzle velocity of the cartridge), but are not remotely "concealable" unless one is wearing an overcoat. At the indoor range two years ago, I was next to a fellow with a .223 pistol with muzzle brake (recoil compensator), which kept venting hot air into my face and blowing my hair back. I never heard anything so doggoned loud in all my life. Everyone in that room needed double ear protection that day. The .223 pistol fellow told me that his was for self defense around the home, and was more maneuverable than a full-sized rifle inside. I can see how this weapon would be a tough nut for a home invader to crack.

"Concealable"? So apparently they mean RIFLES, which must have at least a 16" barrel, and be at least 26" overall length. Yep, that's perfect for putting into your pocket and carrying down to the store.....if you were the Jolly Green Giant. Of perhaps they mean AR pistols....which are typically at least 20" long, not exactly something any normal person can conceal any better than a rifle, really.
They are, as usual, total liars.

Reply 12 - Posted by: Hazymac There are barrels less than 7", I have one with a 4" barrel.
Reply 13 - Posted by: DVC They may say rifles but then again they say assault weapons for a semi-automatic weapons. AR Pistols to less informed lefties are "rifles"

I'm all for it. The more of these stupid counter proposals they throw out there, the less likely any are to pass, as the water is muddied. I had a gun that would almost certainly be banned under such a law. It sat in the living room behind a coffee table for a year. It never moved or hurt anyone. The gun must not be the problem.

The democrat assault weapons ban of 1994 was limited to “scary” looking rifles. For example, and correct me if wrong, the Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle semi-auto .223 was not banned. I expect an expanded list in the 2021 democrat bill. Anything can happen. Even .22 caliber semi-autos might be defined by the dems as an assault weapon.

#14, the muzzle blast from a 4" .223 must be a sight to behold, and knock your fillings loose, and blind you with the flash, too. Flash-bangs are used by LEOs to disorient bad guys during an entry.....seems like each shot from a 4" .223 would be a flash-bang to yourself.
No, thanks. But I am not for making them illegal. They are already wildly impractical.

4" .45 ACP, so none of the issues you mention. I have 5.56 in short barrels too but my goto flash suppressor mitigates those issues as well. I use Noveske KX3 and KX5s to send all the bad stuff downrange. 300 BO with a short barrel shoots more gently than you'd probably expect too. If you get the gas and buffer system set up for your ammo you'd think your shooting .22 LR. Heck, my .308 is as gentle to shoot as my .22. I have a hydraulic buffer that seems to reduce recoil.
Impractical, not hardly if setup correctly. Actually, they're extremely fun to shoot and there are practical uses too. Your concerns sound as if they come from one who has shot very little and doesn't want the rest of us to shoot, like a lefty. I thought the same about a short barreled 5.56 rifle/pistol until I built several of them and tweaked them. My neighbor's 9 yo kid shot my 7 inch 5.56 without an issue. You should try one before damning them. It only takes a couple of hours to make one on your own. It doesn't take a whole lot of tools or skills, just be willing to pay attention to detail. A word of warning, it's addictive.

I'm not aware of any so called assault weapons that can be concealed without wearing an ankle length coat. These things are kind of long.

Reply 19 - Posted by: red1066 One of mine, an AR semi-automatic pistol is 16" overall when folded. Great for a truck gun. I don't want to go through the red tape or expense of owning an assault weapon.

There are always exceptions but I have observed that the most accomplished real-world tactical units, including the most effective hostage rescue teams (excluding FBI HRT), use shoulder fired weapons and in domestic civilian applications, they do not use 5.56 or .308 rounds due to the real dangers of over penetration. A handgun round (e.g., 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 or .45 ) fired from a H&K MP5 or similar short, shoulder fired rifle is plenty accurate and effective, even when the shooter and/or target is moving. Accuracy is paramount, particularly in hostage rescue, as you may have to take a 5% shot (only 5% of the assailant's head is visible behind a hostage) to keep from killing the hostage being used as a shield by the bad guy. Indoor CQB is not for amateurs as professional operators typically shoot at least 1,000 rounds a week to achieve and maintain the required proficiency.
