The University of Oxford is considering proposals that would remove sheet music from its curriculum over woke claims that teaching the Western form of musical notation has roots in “colonialism” and “complicity in white supremacy”.In response to widespread Black Lives Matter protesters and riots last year in the United Kingdom, music educators at Oxford University have joined the wider iconoclastic movement which has been sweeping through British academia. The music department at the prestigious and ancient university has seen calls to remove music notation from the curriculum as professors seek to focus less on white European heritage and culture,

While they are at it, along with scrapping sheet music... they can scrap 1. Newtonian Physics 2. Any form of astronomy that involves lenses and telescopes 3. Any form of chemistry that involves knowing one element from another 4. Einsteinian Physics 5. No more viewing of the works of the Dutch Masters. 6. No more plays from Shakespeare 7. Movies are forbidden as well. Invented by white guys. 8. And if you DO decide to sneak out for a movie, take your F&*^#G camel. No automobiles in the woke paradise.

When one note is used (using autotune because of no talent) and vile disgusting sentences are strung together to a marching band beat, (RAP), sheet music is no longer needed. How to learn orchestral classical music without notes? Having studied Music Theory and Ear Training I'm puzzled!

The people who made this decision were too stupid or lazy to learn to read music. Certainly they were not “black” since most of our greatest musicians, particularly in Jazz, were and are Black or Latin. Only the old dead classical composers were mostly uncolored.

Second article on this . It's absolute nonsense. 100 AD is the earliest form of notated music. The Greeks did it. What this has to do with the self imposed victim hood of black people I don't know and neither do they because this is mindless rot. Everything is racist, anythings is racist. . Fact is, Caucasian contribution to the civilized world is staggeringly enormously positive. You are perpetuating the soft bigotry of low expectations................. the democrat party taught it to you. OK black folks. Sit down at that piano over there and knock out Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag without the sheet music. I'll let you listen to it as many times as you want . Then we'll go to work on the rest of his compositions. He was a classically trained Bar plater. His music is written because he was taught how to write. His contemporary bar players would pay him to write their compositions down since they couldn't. Quite the biography. Check it out.

Maybe the geniuses at Oxford should try being really brave. Eliminate from study or performance at O.U. ANY music that wasn't created by White People---that of Africans, Far Easterners. After all, to play or study that is Cultural Appropriation, a slightly less viral form of Racism.

"How to learn orchestral classical music without notes?" Hang on a second, the existence of orchestral and/or classical music will be condemned as white supremacy, too. "It's absolute nonsense. 100 AD is the earliest form of notated music. The Greeks did it. What this has to do with the self imposed victim hood of black people I don't know and neither do they because this is mindless rot." Open your eyes and notice that the "woke" have rejected history, too. That's the overarching reason all the monuments had to come down. The drivers of this movement seek to replace everything -- past, present, future, and even history, itself -- with their version and vision. Reduce the present world to rubble and live on it. (I would say "build their new world on the ruins of the old"; but they really aren't interested in building or civilization.)

On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee approved H.R. 40 which establishes a 13-person commission to study slavery reparations in the United States for the first time in history. It passed with a majority of 25-17 votes. The vote does not mean that the bill will make it to the House floor. Should it proceed to a vote, the Democrats hold a very slim majority in the House and its passage is in doubt. It is even more unlikely to pass the Senate. Rep. Current zoning laws that favor single-family homes – known as exclusionary zoning – have disproportionately hurt low-income Americans.
