On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee approved H.R. 40 which establishes a 13-person commission to study slavery reparations in the United States for the first time in history. It passed with a majority of 25-17 votes. The vote does not mean that the bill will make it to the House floor. Should it proceed to a vote, the Democrats hold a very slim majority in the House and its passage is in doubt. It is even more unlikely to pass the Senate. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) presented the legislation to the House committee. She declared: “No such bill has ever come this far during Congressional history

Remember the old western movie clips. They burned his house down, raped and killed his wife--but they didn't kill Kato, who will now get his revenge in the rest of the movie. I wonder when the Republicans will respond to having their houses burnt, their women and children taken.

Realize that in our modern legal system an individual cannot be held responsible for delinquent taxes or credit card debt of their own parents or adult siblings, yet congress is contemplating holding millions of individuals fiscally liable for actions taken in a previous century by people long dead. Also, under the heading of ''be careful what you wish for, because it may come true''; once reparations are paid is everything considered square and all excuses are denied from that time forward? or do they just switch to the open-ended ''white privilege'' canard?

How many TRILLIONS have already been given away during this COVIDS hysteria? They all came from an empty Treasury vault. What's a few more TRILLION if it indeed ends the Black whimpering. Of course, there will be more TRILLIONS for every swinging "wronged" group, but why not? Like the old joke, except for the US Government it is true, we can't be broke because I still got checks in my book. Write another, and listen to the BBBRRRRRRrrrr of the printing presses. The bright side is, we can eventually all be billionaires - like Weimar and Italy.

Every single person who is on welfare and has been for years has already gotten their slavery reparations. Considering it was the black slave owners in Africa who sold their families and friends into slavery. In America men and women fought to make all people free and not be in bondage.
I'm in my 70's and I don't know a single person who was a slave and I have family in the deep south. If these folks can prove THEY were slaves then it is OK, but for the others, NO.

My question is, will they take the time to identify who is from Guinea-basau (sp) ancestors who were slave auctioneers? How do we identify the humans with more melanin who came after the civil war as refugees? And just how much is an accurate settlement for who knows how long some were kept as slaves? How do you monetize abuse settlements? And what of the slaves who liked their living situation and were treated well? Do mulattos get 1/2 payments? And what about native Americans, polish, 1900 immigrant stuffed into Burroughs in New York? When we get reparations from Rome?

I thought that President Lyndon Johnson’s civil rights and so-called “Great Society” policies and programs supported by Congressional Republicans that were passed back during the 1960’s got rid of the old Democrat “Jim Crow” laws, and brought in all sorts of modern benefits and services including voting laws targeting Black Americans, were in affect reparations for the long gone Slavery Period that ended over 150 years ago.
No doubt the Democrats believe that they can get their current reparations proposal passed by simply playing the race card against the wimpy Republicans that is bound to scare enough establishment or RINO Republicans into again crossing the aisle to join with their Democrat friends. After all the race card has been a successful weapon for the Democrats to use against the wimpy Republicans in the past.

Hmm! Are the first generation hispanics and asians who had nothing to do with slavery in this country expected to pay the blacks? Will those Kenyans, Somalis,Nigerians and Jamaicans who have come in during the last decade also get reparation $$$?

Much evil is afoot in DC. All the bad things that they can think of to stir up racial hatred are being done.
We had a Civil War and this topic was settled afterwards. Now the race baiters are digging up a long dead conflict to gain power and money. The worst kind of hate politics.

Riddle me this. Democrats control the house with what, six member majority. But the Judiciary committee is 25-17? An 8 seat majority?
This is begging for massive retaliation when and if the GOP ever gets the majority again.

O.K. once again the definition of reparations is...Taking money from me, a person who has never owned a slave and giving it to you, someone who has never been a slave, so you'll vote for democrats.
On the bright side, if reparations becomes law, Planned Parenthood will be bankrupt. No more Black women having abortions.
And again, Blacks will never see a single dime of this money. It will be allocated to Black 'community activists' BLM, Antifa, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. After they take their cut, the rest will go back into the 'rat party coffers.
