California health officials are not ready to ask people to wear masks indoors again, despite the fast-spreading threat of the delta variant that now accounts for nearly a quarter of new coronavirus infections in the state.
The delta variant has many across the world concerned, and on Monday, Los Angeles County health officials strongly recommended that all residents again wear a mask in indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status. However, they did not reimpose the indoor-mask mandate for vaccinated people that was dropped statewide on June 15.

Mask freedom for the vaccinated has proven short-lived in Los Angeles, where county health officials are urging everyone to keep wearing face coverings in grocery and retail stores, theaters and other indoor places in which state and national guidance now says the immunized don’t need them.
And while state and Bay Area health officials aren’t signaling a similar walk-back of the mask rule they loosened just two weeks ago, several infectious disease experts said with the troubling COVID-19 Delta variant on the rise, a recommendation such as L.A. County’s wouldn’t be a bad idea.
“I found Los Angeles County’s approach very prudent,” said Dr. John Swartzberg, professor emeritus of infectious disease

A Monday poll indicated most Americans want no governmental action on the coronavirus delta variant.
The Trafalgar Group asked respondents if the government should take action on the coronavirus delta variant.
Sixty-three percent said the government should take no action, considering “the widespread availability of the vaccines and treatments individuals can to make personal decisions on how to respond.”
17.7 percent said “government should reinstate mandates for mask wearing and social distancing.”
And 12.3 percent said they were not sure.

Oops, they did it again. YouTube is continuing to enforce their policy of defining what ideas are acceptable to appear on their site and which ones are “dangerous misinformation.” Anyone creating content that includes a discussion of any information that falls into the latter category will find their videos removed and their account suspended. This vaguely defined category can generally be boiled down to a description of “things liberals don’t like.” But sometimes the platform is a bit off in their aim, it seems.

Roughly 500 Eco-Nazis blocked all entrances to the White House yesterday, demanding that Whispering Joe include a “Civilian Climate Corps” addendum in his trillion-dollar infrastructure bill and support the Green New Deal.
A group calling themselves “Sunrise Movement” created what some people might deem an insurrection. Fortunately, none were wearing MAGA hats so no unarmed protestors were shot by mystery guards. Dozens were supposedly arrested. New York’s uber-progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman just couldn’t pass up a chance to do some race-baiting, and graciously dropped an “F” bomb to let us know he means it.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is vowing to do what he claims "the Biden administration is refusing to do" when it comes to border security.
Taking it one step forward, this week the two-term Republican governor will tour the U.S.-Mexican border with former President Trump as he pledges to continue building a border wall. Wednesday’s encounter with Trump along the border, which will likely grab plenty of coverage from coast to coast, comes after Abbott in recent weeks has also signed bills restricting the teaching of critical race theory in his state and allowing Texas to carry weapons without a license.

Is it possible for something to be a masterful troll but also be completely necessary at the same time? Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has given us an answer to that question.
With the Biden administration abdicating its duty to enforce border laws, causing a massive surge in illegal immigration, Texas is taking matters into its own hands. But it’s where Abbott is getting the funding that is going to turn heads. The money in Biden’s plan was purposely void of strings attached because the game was to shower blue states with money, allowing them to bail out their mismanaged budgets and perpetuate left-wing priorities. Abbott has turned that on its head

Republican Senators Marsha Blackburn, Chuck Grassley, and Roger Marshall sent a letter Monday to the director of the National Institutes of Health, which operates a scientific facility that conducted coronavirus research, demanding that he disclose the details surrounding the deletion of COVID data from its key database.
In a letter obtained by National Review, the lawmakers asked Director Francis Collins a number of pertinent questions regarding the omitted data and the motives behind its erasure.
It was revealed last week that Chinese researchers instructed the NIH to remove gene sequences of early COVID carriers from an important database called the NIH Sequence Read Archive, the Wall Street Journal reported.

In a statement released Tuesday, New York City mayoral race frontrunner and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams questioned the update in the rank-choice voting election results, which shrunk his winning margin significantly.
“The vote total just released by the Board of Elections is 100,000-plus more than the total announced on election night, raising serious questions,” Adams wrote.
The candidate demanded the board explain apparent discrepancies in the most recent dump of rank-choice voting results.
“We have asked the Board of Elections to explain such a massive increase and other irregularities before we comment on the Rank Choice Voting projection.

Just in case you’re wondering who won last week’s Democratic primary in New York City’s mayoral race, there will be new updates later today. But to save you a little bit of time, we can give you the short version of it. Keep wondering. There will not be a winner announced after today’s next round of voting and this process will be continuing for weeks to come. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams prevailed last week with a fairly healthy margin of ten points, but that apparently no longer matters, thanks to Gotham’s new ranked-choice voting system

WASHINGTON, - The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled in favor of a consortium of energy companies including Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO) seeking to seize land owned by New Jersey to build a $1 billion natural gas pipeline despite the state's objections.
The 5-4 ruling, authored by conservative Chief Justice John Roberts, handed a victory to PennEast Pipeline Company LLC, a joint venture seeking to build the 116-mile (187-km) pipeline from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. The justices overturned a lower court ruling in favor of New Jersey's government.
Other companies joining Enbridge in the consortium include South Jersey Industries Inc (SJI.N), New Jersey Resources Corp

The opening term of the most conservative Supreme Court in a generation was supposed to bring an eruption of pent-up ideological rage. Instead, it's closing with astonishing bonhomie.
The rushed confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett in October, which solidified the court's 6-3 majority of Republican-appointees, raised hopes on the right and fears on left of an imminent blow to Obamacare, rollback of abortion rights and downgrade of LGBTQ equality in the name of religious freedom.
"Many people expected that it would be a bunch of six to three decisions
