California's two Senators are pushing the Biden Administration to set a date after which automakers would no longer be allowed to sell gasoline-powered cars anywhere in the United States. The letter sent Monday by Sens. Diane Feinstein and Alex Padilla to President Joseph Biden urges him to "follow California's lead and set a date by which all new cars and passenger trucks sold be zero-emission vehicles." California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order in September requiring that all new passenger cars and trucks sold in the state be zero-emission vehicles by 2035. I'm sure this will go over well in states with wide open spaces and long distances between everything like Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming. I'm sure really cold places where batteries tend to die will really love battery powered cars. Also, how will we charge them without fossil fuels?

I'm with #9. I love in central Texas and it would take two days t get to any corner of the state. Electric cars would be okay for someone who never leaves the city that they live in, or Democrats that we would like to see get lost anyway, but for the rest of us, this would be an insane idea. Of course I guess that is why The Dims like it.

I would think if every car in America was electric, the power production in the country would have to double or triple. To keep all this new energy ‘green’ it would have to be Nuclear.

The problem with these "zero emissions" types is that their hopes and dreams are just that - hopes and dreams. They don't have a firm basis in practicality and, instead, push theories and policies that they hope will work. This is not a basis for stability and progress.

when they set up a viable network to support non-fossil fuels vehicle's this may be viable. They need to have charging stations all over as they do gas stations. also, they will need charging stations in homes, business's etc. What will this cost? Then where does the electric power come from to charge all these vehicles? Currently, power plants use fossil and nuclear power. So what will they use. Solar and wind won't cut it. The glass in solar reflects light back into the atmosphere, raising the temperature slightly, but incrementally could cause more climate change. Wind doesn't cut is as we have seen what happened in Texas. Hydrogen power might be the answer, we will see. But then, because there will be no revenue from gasoline sales, where will the money come from to pay for the highways and roads? Maybe they need to shut up, sit back and think this through.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — When then-President Donald Trump visited Mount Rushmore last year for a fireworks display, Lakota activist Nick Tilsen saw an opportunity to further a goal of returning to Native American tribes control of land they once held. It would land him in jail, facing felony charges after he organized a demonstration to block a road leading to the monument, but it also made Mount Rushmore a focal point for that effort, known as the Land Back Movement. Now Tilsen, who heads a Rapid City, South Dakota-based Indigenous advocacy organization called NDN Collective, has a plan to make dramatic

The idea isn’t new, but it’s having a revival across the U.S. after some mayors launched small, temporary programs across the country in

President Biden, along with leading Democrats on Capitol Hill, started the year with the choice between two paths to govern. The first route, which I have strongly urged my party to take, is characterized with bipartisanship. Democrats carry this incredible opportunity to consolidate their power by reaching out to moderate Republicans to achieve legislative compromises at a time when Republicans are deeply fractured. This route would lead to further friction, however, with the growing progressive wing. It is clear that Biden and Democrats have chosen the second route, which involves embracing liberal policies and using their power to push through
