Biden Calls on Congress to Ban ‘Assault Weapons’
in Wake of Colorado Shooting

President Biden urged Congress to ban “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines following the Boulder, Colo., shooting in which ten people were killed. “I urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act,” Biden said at a press conference. “We can ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines in this country once again.” Biden also called on the Senate to pass a bill already approved by the House, which tightens background checks for potential gun buyers. “The United States Senate, and I hope some of them are listening, should immediately pass the [bills] that close loopholes in the background check system,” Biden said.

What is an assault weapon? Is it a semi-automatic rifle which requires you to pull the trigger to fire each bullet or is it an automatic rifle which keeps firing when you hold the trigger. An automatic firing weapon is illegal. A semi-automatic term applies all rifles with a multi bullet magazine and also applies to all modern hand guns including revolvers. Libs want to ban all guns and rifles and throw around terms like assault weapons to confuse the public.

Biden's open border policy is just one example of this fact. Oaths to the USA mean nothing to this country's radical lefty, 'ends justify the means,' pols. It should be against the law for any person to shoot another person, other than in self or other assault defense. This should include shooting with “scary looking” weapons, machine guns, missile launchers, semi auto, bolt action, single shot, shotguns, rifles, pistols, muzzle loaders, air guns, BB guns, sling shots, cross bows, compound, recurve or traditional bow and arrow, sling shots, blow guns, clubs, spears, knives, sticks and stones. Spitballs may be on the list also. On reflection, I guess it already is! Guess Biden, Schumer and the MSM didn’t know that.

Someone told me the expired “assault weapons” ban included guns that looked scary, but that guns with a traditional appearance, no pistol grip, for example, were not banned. Can someone confirm that, please? If so, dems probably won’t make that mistake again. I expect an expanded list of rifles might be on their list, including semi-automatic .22 caliber. I recall a mass shooting in Washington state a few years ago where the shooter used a .22 caliber semi-auto Ruger. I am pretty sure one of the guns used by the Aurora theater killer was a shotgun, not sure if it was a semi-automatic. Scary times. If the filibuster is repealed, the democrats are capable of anything.

They banned them for a decade. NO crime statistics changed whatsoever in the direction of good. So, after a decade, the law 'sunset' and was not reauthorized. The results will be NO different if they do it again. One measure of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

#4, generally good comments....except that when you state "An automatic firing weapon is illegal." you are incorrect. Automatic weapons are legal, but federally controlled pretty tightly, and are illegal by state law in eight antigun states but are legal to own in the other 42 states, as long as the cumbersome federal laws are followed.

#6, no, not banned. Taxed. In the 1930s they knew that they could not ban them, they just taxed them. Still NOT banned federally, but taxed, with a time consuming background check. And finally in 1986 they did say that no NEW machine guns could be registered legally under the federal laws, but all existing guns were still legal.

You can legally own a Gatling gun without a Federal permit. Although it has a rapid rate of fire, the method of fire is mechanical, not gas fired. Having said that, the fault lies with the gunner, not the gun.

Realistically the Islamist supporting nut job in Boulder, CO, could easily have murdered just as many or more people with one of the two shotguns that Biden has claimed that he owns. Whose to say if that perpetrator could not have got his hands on a rifle that he would not have exploded an improvised explosive device (IED) inside that store when it was loaded with innocent people, or go into the store carrying a large knife and stabbing unsuspecting people to death as he walked through the aisles of the store. It has been known for a longtime that the most dangerous Islamist terrorists in the USA in the future will be people who were admitted to the USA as children brought to the USA by their parents as refugees from Islamic lands that are experiencing endless wars. The perpetrator fraudulently blaming Trump and his supporters for causing him to commit mass murder should be a non-starter by all Americans, instead unfortunately we see Biden attempting to obtain a political advantage from the incident to pass Democrat gun control bills that intending criminals and terrorists will never comply with, and that will end up simply harassing law abiding Americans and voiding 2nd Amendment rights.

Joe Biden is scheduled to finally have a press conference tomorrow. No doubt there will be efforts on the part of the White House to head off any issues and limit the damage, perhaps even limiting who gets to ask questions/calling on more friendly reporters. But at this point, he’s delayed their ability to have real questions on a host of issues, they’re not happy and he’s set it for a day where they’re going to be asking a ton of questions about the border crisis. Now that might explain why he appointed Kamala Harris today to take over the border, so tomorrow he can say, “Ask her.”

Joe Biden sold the American people a bill of goods in 2020. He is not a moderate, and he will make his mark no matter what damage it does to our institutions, traditions, or country. Biden is not even a Trojan horse for the radical Left. He is leading the charge to transform the country. Remember how Joe Biden pushed back on Kamala Harris in a debate? Biden said he had no executive authority to ban assault weapons, and that there were many limits on changes using that tool. In July of 2019, a truly bizarre series of events unfolded around California’s Channel Islands. Over a number of days, groups of unidentified aircraft, which the U.S. Navy simply refers to as ‘drones’ or 'UAVs,' pursued that service's vessels, prompting a high-level investigation. During the evening encounters, as many as six aircraft were reported swarming around the ships at once. The drones were described as flying for prolonged periods in low-visibility conditions, and performing brazen maneuvers over the Navy warships near a sensitive military training range less than 100 miles off Los Angeles. The ensuing investigation included elements of the Navy, Coast Guard, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
