The 21st Century
Ugly Americans

In 1958 a political novel, The Ugly American, by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer became not only an international best-seller but permanently embedded the phrase “ugly American” into the global lexicon. (snip) This image of America’s elites has not waned over the past 60 years. It is more pronounced than ever and not just because of their ongoing arrogance and fatuousness. Today, the rest of the world is viewing, with alarm, an American elite class that has lost its mind and self-control, as it is the American ruling elites that are solely responsible for unleashing out-of-control-leftism and cancel culture upon the nation and the world.

Before addressing the technical factors used to produce the rosy numbers, consider the buried lede hundreds of words into the piece. Tucker Carlson began his top-rated Fox News program with a startling and disturbing comparison of the treatment of Joe Biden’s family with the way that children of dictators are treated in places like Iraq under Saddam. (hasty transcription by me) You know you’re living in a non-democracy when it’s dangerous to displease the ne’er do well children of the supreme leader. If you were, for example, at a red light in pre-invasion Baghdad, and Uday Hussein came screaming up behind you in his Lamborghini, you got the hell out of the way

What's the celebration all about in Minnesota? (snip) The answer is a celebration about abortion, or "reproductive rights" as they call it these days. After Roe was overturned, we knew that states would decide the issue on their own. And so they did. Elections have consequences as we see in a 34-33 party-line vote. And in Minnesota they had a huge celebration to go with it. Not one Democrat had the guts to stand up and look at the abortion fanatics and say: This is too much. You can't go this far.

Mark Steyn has been lamentably missing from his regular appearances and occasional guest hosting of Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show, having signed on for a weekday program at the UK’s GBNews. Thus, many of his American fans including me had no idea that he was on “medical leave” recently. It turns out, Mark has just revealed, that he has suffered 2 heart attacks. Looking perhaps a bit thinner than before, he returned to the air with a characteristically whimsical announcement that he is “still alive.” The two-minute video is essential viewing for all Steyn fans

Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” apply to all radicals, including those who take the radical position that patriotic constitutional conservativism is a good thing. For any given election, it is customary to expect some falsehoods. (snip) Just yesterday, following a court order, footage of the attack on Paul Pelosi at his San Francisco home was made public. (snip) The reason citizens should be concerned about it is because the incident was used to push a narrative prior to the midterm elections. This wasn’t just a few conspiracy theorists blogging from their basements, it was a Democrat and media blitzkrieg. Joe Biden described the attack as "despicable," and denounced a corrosive political climate for contributing to violence. He baselessly claimed that the attack appeared to be "intended for Nancy."

Let’s cut to the chase: Did Joe Biden remove classified documents from the National Archives that would incriminate him in the influence peddling racket he and his family were running? That’s the most important question about them, and that’s probably why the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) is being stonewalled in their demand to see them. All members of the SSCI have high level security clearances and are considered able to see them. The expression, “If some is good, more must be better” might apply to chocolate, vacations, and American Thinker articles, but not to everything in life. I speak of COVID vaccines, a hot topic in personal discussions and on social media. The corporate media and government, including most world health authorities follow a similar quote, attributed to May West, ““If a little is great, and a lot is better, then way too much is just about right!” Is that so? Are an endless series of mRNA “vaccines” really in the best interests of virtually all Americans for whom they are recommended?

Fighter jets shot down the Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic today after Joe Biden vowed to 'take care of it' and the FAA shutdown three airports in the Carolinas. The balloon was seen bursting at 2.38pm and its payload - the metal structure carrying its cameras - appeared to have been separated as it plummeted towards the ocean off Myrtle Beach. The Biden administration confirmed the shoot-down order around 2pm after the President this morning vowed, 'We're gonna take care of it,' as he stepped off Air Force One at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, upstate NY.

Joe Biden praised the Top Gun fighter jet pilot who shot down the Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina today after he vowed to 'take care of it.' An F-22 Raptor out of Langley Air Force base took the balloon down with a single AIM-9X sidewinder missile at 2.38pm, separating its surveillance payload and sending it plummeting towards the ocean off Myrtle Beach. Footage showed the jet screaming towards the spy aircraft before firing the missile as stunned locals watched from the coast.  An operation was underway to recover the wreckage and retrieve any valuable intelligence before it sinks into the ocean.

Community activists in Houston are calling for a restaurant patron who shot and killed a robbery suspect during a holdup to be arrested, saying he went beyond self-defense despite many calling him a hero. Customers were eating inside a local taqueria when 30-year-old Eric Eugene Washington entered and pointed a pistol at them and demanded cash. As he gathered the cash, an armed patron can be seen on surveillance video getting up from the booth he was sitting in and shooting his pistol at Washington multiple times. Three years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing masks in public. I try not to judge people when I see someone wearing a mask; after all, the person may have a legitimate need to wear a mask. But what I’ve noticed is that there seem to be a lot of healthy younger people — teenagers and people in their early 20s — who wear masks often, and I have a difficult time understanding it. I’ve had a theory about this phenomenon for some time. I think some people like to keep masking because it makes them feel anonymous. I’m convinced that some people

However, they did not clarify whether a military option was considered when the craft transgressed U.S. airspace over Alaska’s Aleutian Islands on Jan. 28,

A white, female Willamette University professor is scheduled to host a veritable struggle session this month at a local library “for white people to reflect together on what it means to ‘do our work’ as white people.” The professor, Emily Drew, predictably “teaches courses about racism, white supremacy, immigration, and social change,” according to a biography. “Her research agenda revolves around understanding how race and racism get institutionalized, with the goal of helping to illuminate more effective strategies for interrupting systemic inequality,” the biography reads. She also performs work for Crossroads, an “antiracism” consulting form whose mission centers on “dismantling racism” and “building racial justice in institutions.”
