Community activists in Houston are calling for a restaurant patron who shot and killed a robbery suspect during a holdup to be arrested, saying he went beyond self-defense despite many calling him a hero.
Customers were eating inside a local taqueria when 30-year-old Eric Eugene Washington entered and pointed a pistol at them and demanded cash. As he gathered the cash, an armed patron can be seen on surveillance video getting up from the booth he was sitting in and shooting his pistol at Washington multiple times.
"He was within the law when he fired the first initial shots," said activist Quanell X in a

Gee, black race grifters defending black criminal activity.
I'm shocked!
Over 50 years ago I was told by a criminal lawyer that if I ever had to shoot anyone then make damned sure they are dead.

Quanell X is a member of the New Black Panthers. They do not like white people. However, as much as I liked the outcome of this robbery gone bad, I kind of agree with Mr. X that the first four shots were legal, and the last five--especially the ninth round--were not. That was a defensive encounter that turned into an execution. Not good.

The armed patron should be given a medal and reimbursed for the cost of the bullets used plus 10%.

The patron is a hero who saved taxpayers a lot of money. The perp won't be terrorizing any more innocent citizens. Sounds like a win-win.

Their complaint would change had Mr Unidentified only shot “a few times”. Race hustlers gotta hustle.

as I was told while young, as I teach the young now..."You may be able to choose when a fight starts, but it isn't over until it is over, and you only have one vote about that. Never EVER strike if you can not strike safely and honorably....but never strike with less than EVERYTHING you've got, if you have to shoot...shoot that SOB all of the way into the dirt".
This guy saved the county $thousands in emergency medical costs, ( Bills the perp and his family would never even attempt to pay), $thousands more in prosecution/defense/court costs...and $100's of thousands in incarceration costs.
I have watched the whole video several times, the ONLY shot that was not justified was the last/final one, after he had picked up the perps weapon...and it appears to have been an unintentional discharge.

Mr. X is no longer a predator. Good work all around.
BTW, it is immaterial that nine rounds were delivered. In a situation like that where the perp is armed (or even apparently armed) the most rational choice is to make sure that he is really and very truly dead, dead, dead.

When you come in waving a gun, no quarter should be given to criminals. None. One less thug for the citizens of Houston to worry about.

Really stupid to say first shots okay, but more is murder. Liberal minded woke folk don't try to be rational, they try to make the world conform to their ideal world. If they man didn't continue to pull the trigger the suspect might have returned fire.

Once again the "activists" of the community side with the criminal thugs in their midst. It is only a matter of time before the late Eric Eugene Washington joins the pantheon of martyrs along with George Floyd and Trayvon Martin.
No one who waves a gun around, robbing innocent patrons in a restaurant should expect to walk out alive. It doesn't matter if it is real or not. As long as it looks real, people will react as if it is real.

I’ve seen the video. I think he went beyond self defense at a certain point. Never having been in that situation, I’m not going to judge. I think I might have kept shooting too. Make sure they’re dead. He made sure he was good and dead.
I’m certainly not loosing any sleep over what he did. The perp started it and he finished it. If I was on a jury, he’d walk. FAFO !!

Quannel X is just looking to make money. He doesnt care about the dead guy or the dead guys family. As soon as he is able to line his pocket with whatever filthy lucre he can extract from the supplicants, he is gone and silent. Long time grifter of the Houston community.

I've said this many times, and will say it again. The Wild West was won because good guys all so had guns. I know this is off topic, but in away connected. When a horse thief was caught he was hung on the spot. I consider my car, my horse power. So many car thefts, time to treat the thief like a horse thief. +

If you're in a situation where you fire on an assailant, you are not counting shots you are trying to neutralize them. What if it was a an unarmed defense who that person be counting punches? If it were the other way around and the assailant had a real gun and fired it would the number of shots be relevant? What this man did was absolutely appropriate. Even LEOs will tell you at least six shots, center mass more if needed.

According to this story the dead man was sentenced to 15 years in 2015. The writer is unclear as to whether it was for a strong armed robbery or for killing a man. At any rate he was released after six years. He should have been behind bars until 2030. The world is better off without him.

After the shooter got his wallet back that said "Bad Mother F*cker"...he proceeded to blast the would-be rober into next week.
BTW...The dead-guys family said he was such a good boy and never did anything like this before. Ben Crump call your office.

If you enter a premises pointing a gun you get what you deserve. What's a victim supposed to do - wait until he's shot first? Can't assume a gun is a 'fake'

Guess home boy had a bad day at the office. His timely demise will save the taxpayers a bunch of money. As for the activists crying foul, you never put one hole in a perps and you don't aim to maim.

Response 4: if I'm ever force to shoot someone, as long as his hand is on his gun, I will keep shooting till empty. If he twitches and I feel it might be an aggressive move, I'll reload and fire, if I feel it's necessary.

Re #24, that sounds fine in the cold light of day, but remember that in the courtroom, the standard that is applied by the law is what a "reasonable man" would do. That is the law in most places, and remember that jurors, sitting safe and sound in their box or at home will not be as stressed and frightened as most of us will be in the actual events.
Make certain to "be reasonable". If the threat is over....or is perceived to have been over by the story (which is probably distored intentionally) that the prosecutor is telling the jurors, even one extra shot will be perceived by many people as intentional murder, and the action can suddenly move from "justifiable homicide" to some degree of murder or manslaughter.
Think hard about the laws now.
An excellent way to understand this is to spend a bit of time locating the Jury Instructions for your state for a case of self-defense. These are typically a standard set of words that the judge will read to the jury as they go off to deliberate, and are usually available online as a public document.
Read the jury instructions and think about it.

The worst charge on that last shot should be desecrating a corpse. That last shot was not "murder." Robber was already dead due to self defense.

Nonsense on limiting the number of shots. A man with a couple of rounds in his body, depending upon location, can still raise his arm and get off a few more shots in a room full of people. Make sure the CRIMINAL is not moving before you stop shooting.

Re #27: That's correct. An armed robber or carjacker who just pointed a gun in your face or mine earns his "just desert" (pronounced like "dessert") the moment he turns his back and offers a good shot to a defender. Even Quanell X recognized that the first four caps--at least--popped into the armed robber's back (which put him down) were justified. When the perp fell, was he still holding his gun? Was he still a threat to everyone on the taqueria? If he was, he should be shot until he is no longer a threat.
If a policeman did what this defender did, on bodycam while on duty, his law enforcement career would be over, and he would be prosecuted to the limit of (blue) state law. In a sane state, he might be credited for taking out the trash and maybe not even charged. It's good that this fellow killed the robber in Texas. But unless the robber was still holding the gun with his finger on the trigger after the first eight shots, that ninth shot was a kill shot.

It is crystal clear what these "so-called" activists are trying to do. Make your average gun owner hesitant to use that gun, especially against those with extra melanin.

The armed robber came in waving a very real looking gun, saying, "Wallet, wallet, wallet...." Then he absorbed nine bullets and died on the spot. The decedent had been in prison before for robbery. Bet he won't do that again.
