Even Sen. Ted Cruz admits his decision to vacation in sunny Cancun, Mexico, this week while his home state of Texas was suffering record cold and massive power outages was “obviously a mistake,” as he told reporters in Houston upon his hastily arranged return.
But it turns out his big error was when he went — not where. While the Republican firebrand’s public relations instincts may have been off, his travel ones weren’t — at least according to Expedia Group. Cancun is, in fact, the No. 1 destination Americans are booking flights to in so far 2021, the online travel

Yeah. All the union school teachers that are getting paid for not teaching are spending their time there.

You may think your joking #1, but my wife is a teacher in Maryland and she is constantly getting photos of teachers sitting on the beach some while conducting classes, some attending meetings while at the beach, and others like my wife stuck in snowy Maryland using what time off she has scraping ice off the windshield of her car. If Cuomo can get a free pass for killing thousands of seniors, Cruz should get a pass for getting out of the cold in a situation that he had no control over.

Yes #1. Notice how there is no mention at all of teachers all over getting paid and still not back to fulltime in classroom! Good point!

Ted Cruz is a US Senator and the US Senate is adjourned for a week or so. If Cruz had stayed in DC over that period of Senate adjournment nothing would have been said about Cruz doing that, but instead Cruz went on a planned short family vacation to Cancun, Mexico. Big deal, as wether Cruz was in DC, in Texas, or in Cancun, there was nothing that he could do about the storm and freezing weather in Texas. This report is just more media driven political propaganda for the Democrats.

Something I NEED to know: Why is Ted Cruz going to Mexico during a weather emergency any worse than the California mayor who posted a video telling his constituents to stay home, and posted it FROM A MEXICAN RESORT????? Does anyone have an answer to this?

Exactly what was Cruz going to do? He is basically in the minority in the Senate with a Hidin' Biden administration dead set on MALA

At least Ted did not tell anyone else not to go that they should stay home.

Apparently Washington DC is shut down over 3 inches of snow. Our PRESIDENT has put an 8 AM LID on his activities. So if a senator can find a good time to take a break with his family someplace warm for a few days I'd say GO FOR IT.

Three inches of snow in DC, but the 40 feet of impenetrable corruption and stupidity which is choking the city is far worse.

My son's family and my next door neighbors were in Mexico this past few weeks. What's the big deal?

If Gov Abbott had been in Cancun I would be upset. Or Mayor Turner. But Senator Cruz I’m ok with being out of state during the freeze. Nothing for him to do about it. Don’t need the feds.

Cruz is a Senator and all he can do is talk. He is not an administrator.

It's the visuals and the concept of leadership...and Cruz blew it. If he runs for President it will be thrown in his face over and over, by Republicans and Democrats, as a "leader" who deserted his constituents. For a politician, it was incredibly stupid. Send the family, but the Senator should have stayed home and "surveyed the situation", if not handed out blankets in shelters. Contrast Ted to "Mattress Mack". When the chips are down, who do you want as a neighbor?

Cruz did his fellow Texans a favor by leaving the state and not sucking up the energy others need. He should have just owned it. When our power goes out for days we head to a friends, or out of the area if we can.

This smells like one of those gotcha whisper campaigns Romney and Rove pull out to take out presidential hopefuls.

I guess he should have taken his bullet-proof limo, his mother-in-law and his mattresses with him. You know, like Steppin Fetchit did.

The murder rate in Mexico is six times the murder rate in the USA. I last visited Mexico about 35 years ago. Not going back, ever.
