CARMEL, Ind. – Two sharp-eyed young sisters were hailed as change agents and champions of equality by the Carmel City Council Monday. While passing Carmel construction zones on their school bus, Blair Babione, 11, and Brienne Babione, 9, saw something that seemed wrong: signs that read “Men Working.” (Snip) Finkham introduced a resolution to enforce the gender neutral guidelines on Carmel construction projects. It passed unanimously. “’Men Working” or ‘Men At Work’ signage communicates the false and unacceptable message that women cannot or should not work in the construction trades or other related fields,” the resolution reads. Pedantic little brats.
City Council President Sue Finkham "wanted to reward the girls for their civic responsibility and promotion of equality, especially at the start of Women’s History Month".
Well, bless her heart, if that ain't just sweetest thing you ever did hear a government official say.

Patricia Arquette is a Hollywood looney tune but once upon a time she was in a very good show “Medium”. There’s a scene where her adorable and precocious daughter Bridgette tells her mom she wants to be a policeman when she grows up. Allison (Arquette) tells her, it’s “policewoman”. I don’t think that would be pc these days lol and wonder if she’s aware there’s a possible cancelling coming her way.
These girls are already doomed. The picture with their masks on is so depressing.

A sign produces a mental image. A simple MEN WORKING sign saves lives.
A politically correct sign such as SHOULDER WORK AHEAD does not give the brain an appropriate image and thus is less effective than MEN WORKING in saving lives.

I agree. It should say "Men Working, and woman holding the flag."

The Article includes: "The resolution calls for sending out notices to companies that do business with the city to remind them that work zone signs should be gender-neutral." At least it's better than ". . . SHALL be gender neutral." If I controlled a business that posts "Men Working" signs in streets of a local government that mandates my company must post gender-neutral signs I'd sue such entity in a New York Minute and request attorneys' fees and costs. Also, don't elected local government officials have better uses of their time then placing the content of "Men Working" signs on their Agenda?

And when will these two well indoctrinated little social justice warriors start doing those construction jobs? I'd guess never. Women are sought after in trades though to be honest it takes a special kind of woman to install an ac unit or lay brick or install roofing or unplug a toilet or wire a house. Most women I see anywhere near a "Men at Work" sign are holding another sign that says "STOP" and "GO". I've never seen one actually laying asphault or up a telephone pole or down a manhole... oh excuse me I guess that should be person hole. /roll eyes

How dare they have a warning sign that 'men' working are dangerous but the women working are not. It's sexism! Prejudice! It making the false accusation that men are dangerous brutes! How dare you!
A couple construction guys walking in and making that argument before the 'never going to work on a construction site' girls - would have been fun. Make then play by their own rules - so says Saul.

It's a little long, but the sign should say "Men working" "Women doing half the work for Equal pay"

The plaintiffs are 9 and 11. Who put them up to it? They are being used as props.
Btw, can't the terms man and men also be considered gender neutral?

Perhaps a broader (sorry the pun is unintended) definition of 'men' is human beings.
The signage is written to quickly convey a message that will easily be read and instantly understood.
This female doesn't find it offensive.

How do we know that the women working don’t identify as men? Dear Leader is so proud of the little social justice warriors. They’ve been taught well.

"Men talking" would probably be a more-accurate sign. But they may be doing, or not doing, virtually anything.
For complete inclusivity, maybe have the sign say, "someone something".

Perhaps their schools need to do a better job at teaching English. "Men" can be in the masculine or the neuter. "Woman" is always feminine.

“Men Working” or ‘Men At Work’ signage communicates the false and unacceptable message that women cannot or should not work in the construction trades or other related fields,”. And yet, as the headline states "The sign said 'men working,' but
girls told city council 'we've seen PLENTY of women doing construction'. So their going to spend how much money to change the signage to correct this non problem?

If nothing else the schools are good at creating Social Justice Warriors. Does anyone have the common sense to see the sign is just to alert motorists and not for political commentary?
