Never Trumper Jonah Goldberg: Trump
‘Is Trying to Steal’ the Election

Original Article

Posted By: Boliver, 11/21/2020 11:41:15 PM

Never Trump stalwart Jonah Goldberg published an essay Friday in which he argued that President Donald Trump “is trying to steal an election he clearly and unequivocally lost.”   Goldberg also claimed on Twitter that Trump’s fight to contest the election results proved that he and other critics of the president were right “all along” about his character. (Tweet) In his essay, Goldberg argued:   The president of the United States is trying to steal an election he clearly and unequivocally lost.   Even liberals frame this fact wrong. They keep saying that Trump is undermining the legitimacy of the election. He is certainly doing that.  Correction*

Jonah, Jonah, Jonah. Where did you lose your way?

I recently, but before this article, removed my bookmark to his web site, which I am glad I did. I just wonder what took me so long to do it. Jonah might remember that FauxBama pledged to fundamentally transform America. He did some harm, but luckily he was too busy vacationing to do more. Now, he is going to be the power behind Joe Biden's throne, as well as the brains, and expects this to be his third, and probably fourth term to destroy America. And, Jonah, you are playing into FauxBama's hands. On a side note, I haven't heard much from KammieLah lately. I think she was expecting to take over from Joe shortly after his Inauguration. Now, it looks like FauxBama wants to keep Joe in office, so he can play Puppet Master to Slow Joe. And, he doesn't want to have to fight KammieLah for power.

Jonah Goldberg lives in D.C. There’s something in the water there; over time, it softens your brain and you become a swamp creature. That’s the only reason I can think of to explain what’s happened to him. He got too comfortable with the National Review crowd, going on the post-election cruises, sipping Grand Marnier and smoking Upmann cigars and talking to everybody about how good things are gonna be when people FINALLY listen to them.... When Trump came along, even though he was everything they said they wanted in a Republican president, they were horrified - he wasn’t a Washington politician. They bitched about him for the last five years, and now they’ve effectively become.... liberal Democrats! Jonah Goldberg has become a babbling idiot.

First, kudos to site admin for leaving this article up...I wasn't sure they would. Second, Jonah is the one NeverTrumper who absolutely broke my heart. I'm mildly sad about a few others, but I was gutted by Jonah's intransigent stance against President Trump in light of his remarkable accomplishments. I had so hoped he would follow in the footsteps of the great Victor Davis Hanson and be persuaded to change his mind, but it was not to be. Third, PDT hasn't yet been proven beyond reasonable doubt to have lost this election clearly and convincingly.

This makes me sad. Jonah, 20 years ago, basically introduced me to conservatism and what it was about. He had a column at National Review Online called The Corner in which he eloquently wrote about events do the day, the Fair Jessica, and his beloved dog Cosmo. It was good and he was funny. Later I discovered this forum was run by his Mom. I’ve noticed that pretty much all of NRO and former NRO writers dislike Trump. While I most certainly can’t speak for them, I’ll admit to being puzzled by their reactions because it appears to me it’s borne from Trump not following classic conservative thoughts. And maybe not comporting himself is classical conservative ways - stiff upper lip, gentlemanly, shrug your shoulders if things don’t go your way and quietly walk off - all the while wishing someone would fight back, but making denials to such claptrap that came from the media would be bad, would acknowledge them/crap, and would be unseemingly. I’d gladly listen to other views, as long as there’s no “yelling”. And now Trump has led for almost four years, and many - including Mark Levin and Rush, leading conservative commentators - have stated that Trump has been even more conservative in his leadership than Reagan! Gasp! And the guys of NR and former NR continue with their purism, their want of “pure conservativism. They’d rather have that than an America that’s fighting socialism and a President who’s fighting for us. Jonah is wrong, this was an election that was corrupt in those 4-6 states, President Trump is right to fight this - it’s not a couple of hanging chads as in Florida - this was massive thievery and should not go vigorously unchallenged. I applaud Lucianne for doing the right thing and permitting opposing views be posted. I will not be unkind to her and her son - never.

Ms. Lucianne was, and continues to be, a quiet and brave force for truth, bravery, and steadiness. She has, at great cost, given us a harbor of sanity and friendship. I'd guess that most of us are enduring sadness (and worse) in being torn between love and loathing: love for our older children whom we raised to honor, appreciate, and revel in the glory of our FREEDOM, and loathing for the behavior they now display having so stupidly aligned with those who sing the sirens' song of socialism. As we each walk that tightrope, I hope that we remember one major difference between us and Ms. L: our problems aren't being played out publicly. I, for one, will not add salt to her wounds. She is a giant among us, and we owe her mightily. She does not walk away, although some days it must be very tempting. Wishing her and her family peace this season...

I remember back when I was a Jonah fan, I read a piece that he wrote claiming that the Tribulation (see the Book of Revelation) had already occurred (or was continuing) and that the Antichrist had been (I believe) Emperor Diocletian. Some of my details may be off, and I apologize for those lapses in memory, but my general reaction was that this was borderline insanity by any rational standard. He also sided with the discredited buffoon Mueller. A lesser transgression, certainly, but also unworthy of consideration or respect.

For many of these people, it seems as if they have had a computer program loaded into their brains that eliminates independent thought. If you don't like Donald Trump, everything he does is bad and everything Barack Obama ever did (precious little) is brilliant and good. There are no exceptions. Even Melania is considered a ragmuffin compared to the classy and beautiful Michelle. Maybe these brain-manipulated folks can be reprogrammed like the psychiatrists thought they could do with former cult members because it is indeed a cult of stupidity.
