Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday blocked consideration of a House bill that would deliver $2,000 stimulus payments to most Americans — spurning a request by President Trump even as more Senate Republicans voiced support for the dramatically larger checks.McConnell’s move was just the beginning of a saga that is likely to engulf the Senate for the rest of the week. Democrats are pushing for an up-or-down vote on the House bill, while more Republicans acknowledge a need for larger stimulus checks.

The Republicans are going to lose the Senate if this doesn't pass.

I have two close friends in CA who have lost everything from this shutdown (I've been lucky/blessed). They are hurting and 2K would make a huge difference for them after these oppressive shutdowns devastated their lives. They lost a thriving business, their home (have 2 kids) and had to move in with relatives after exhausting their savings. McConnell has a place to sleep tonight and food on his table. This is infuriating. I understand being fiscally conservative but these people need help, now!

I’m not so sure that McConnell does not care if the wimpy Republicans win the Georgia run off elections next week or not. As if the leftist and liberal Democrats control the next Senate, he would be the Minority Leader, and still get his cut, but would really have no responsibility for any really leftist legislation that the Democrat majority passes, or much of anything else that the Senate does. Anyway it looks like McConnell has been covertly back stabbing President Trump ever since he assumed office.

FTA: "Republicans acknowledge a need for larger stimulus checks." Soooooo how much larger? Ohhhh I just figured it out. This is a precursor event leading up to the inevitable guaranteed universal income bill Mitch & the Swamp Creatures have conjured up. Got it.

Mitch was OK with spending $2+ trillion and sending billions of dollars all around the world to Sudan, Nepal, the Palestinians, et al. But he can't see his way to giving desperate Americans another $1,400? Does he want the GOP to lose the Georgia Senate Runoffs? Maybe China told his wife there will be no more goodies if he does not follow their orders.

I heard Marsha Blackburn last night on Lou Dobbs as Greg Jarratt grilled her about the desperately needed $2K stimulus checks. Boy ole Mitch has her in line. She refused to answer which meant no she won’t vote for it, of course. This woman and her fellow Senators have ice water in their veins when it comes to helping the desperate middle class.
Oh but they are all gooey and warm-hearted at GENEROUSLY throwing our money at big business donors as soon as they hit an economic rough spot!!

the time is long overdue to have a coup d'emitch in the senate and make him lower than the newest senator in the place. he's is the most transparently bad and is tied with the demcom senators for the label of the worst senators in American history. ditch mitch! ditch mitch! ditch mitch! ditch mitch!

Huge mistake..!! The Dems will use this to demonize the GOP as being heartless and uncaring. Republicans are no better than the Democrats in spending taxpayers hard earned dollars to go countries for meaningless things in a year when we should be concentrating on the homeland. there are struggling families who could use that money.
Trump said giving stimulus money to the people will come right back in the form of new spending and taxes. Does anyone in congress understand anything about the circulation of money and how it works.

The $2K is additional funding. The Democrats checkmated Trump again, by passing a stand alone additional $2K in the House. Now the Senate will have to pass it, to keep from denying people the $2K, and we will now have a $3.5T spending bill, all printed money. Heck, quit working, just print whatever anyone needs. Sure, no work, no products, but some people don't get that. Inflation will now be through the roof. The Republicans needing money should return to work, and ignore lockdown orders. Are Republicans able to stick together long enough to defy the lockdown orders, and protect their members? Probably not. The Democrats will win again.

It’s pretty much us and Trump against the world. My fantasy now is to make elites pay. Starve them. Keep them from enjoying the results of our labor. I doubt that most of them know how to turn a screwdriver , grow a tomato or what have you. It wouldn’t necessarily have to be bloody. The peasants would have to band together and refuse to provide them with anything. Like I said, it’s just a fantasy.

This is a move by McConnell to endear Democrats to all of us angry voters. Its smoke and mirrors. Its like those Renaissance jousting tournaments were on guy plays the designated bad guy and the other the hero. They pretend to fight to the death.
But its all eye candy. The Democrats DON'T want the $2000 checks cut. they want that money for themselves. So they have a stooge of theirs to pretend to be opposing in from their "enemy's" camp, so they can look good. Pass or not the object is to damage the GOP brand, along with its current head, President Trump. Trump may have suggested it first, but that's not what you'll hear from media Talking Heads.

Consider the source Washington Post, who knows what the truth really is however it is no secret that McConnell through his wife and family is totally bought by the chinese communists and has alway hated and obstructed President Trump.
McConnell just got re-elected by the republican fools in Kentucky so the blame for this human fungus being the leader of the Senate rests with them.

#11 - if only it were as easy as, "...Republicans needing money should return to work, and ignore lockdown orders." Look at the example governments have made of people that tried to do just that. Do you have a few hundred thousand dollars for fines and lawyers? It would have to be a force of people doing that en masse to work and they would need the backup of local Republican politicians to do that. Good luck finding those.

WE have the fed saying this could overheat the economy. Tell it to the people whose small businesses have been ordered to close their doors for nearly a year. I have 3 bar owner friends who tried to survive by becoming brightly lit take-out restaurants. There's one left and he's hanging by a thread.
Enough BS already.

Pass it even if all the bloated crap the enemies of the country put in the bill, because if they don't, the Senate race in Georgia will be all demoslut victories, and the country goes down the drain.

When did Mitch find his man jewels? He gave them to the Dems on November 4th. Good God man! Fight the opponents that will destroy us and not the undercard.

Remember President Trump is not a Member of the “UniParty” Congress and can only do what is politically possible. When the wimpy Republican Members of the “UniParty” will not support the President, under the system of government in force in the federal government there is not much that a President can do. Especially when the Republican “UniParty” Members in the Senate are intent on committing political suicide.

Good. Open everything up and suspend FICA, SS, federal income tax and minimum wage. Allow employers to pay employees in cash with no reporting to the feds - kind of like illegal aliens getting paid in cash under the table.
