Public health experts are sounding the alarm about the trajectory of the pandemic in the United States as the coronavirus spreads through the country largely unabated and officials muse aloud about the possibility of fresh lockdowns. (Snip) Their warnings come amid widespread fatigue with restrictions, even as the virus is nowhere near finished rampaging across the country. Although several states implemented new mitigation measures this week, many people have been letting down their guards or, in some cases, vowing outright to ignore the rules. Fourteen states, mostly in the Midwest, had reported record numbers of hospitalizations by midday Thursday as

If masks work and everyone is wearing them how can there be an outbreak?

My opinion, for what its worth. Let the virus run its course until it burns itself out. Another shut down wont stop the virus, merely slow it down. Instead of a flu season, we get several.
If YOU are at risk, YOU stay home.
We can not afford to destroy the economy for the 1% who may succumb to the virus. Destroying the economy will cause a greater loss of life in the long term.

Let me guess—the states where votes are in dispute will be hit the worst.

I think we need a 6 month lockdown with no communications with the outside world for the "experts" and the covid 19 problem would take a huge turn for the better!

# 2 writes, "My opinion, for what its worth."
It's worth a lot to me because in very few words he or she states the most common sense summation possible.
Also, the flu will be ignored as if it no longer exists.

The virus outbreak hoax is just a device by the left to extend their dictatorial rule by emergency power. The virus is the tool to implement their climate change policies. It has been very effective, shutting down the oil and gas industry like nothing else could have done. The left said in 1980 we had no oil and gas. Now 2020, we are awash in oil and gas. Jimmy can take his sweater off. I don't believe, am positive of it, that the left has ever uttered a truthful word.

Illinois is shutting down again. As a former small business owner, I can imagine the feeling of terror especially after such a rough year. On top of it all the specter of a Biden presidency with higher taxes and stupid regulations could drive people to suicide, and that is no joke.
I just got a call from my sister-in-law saying that were not going to come for Thanksgiving. I understand how they feel because my brother-in-law is 83 and scared to death of "the Covid." but, realistically, how many more Thanksgiving's will we have together?
Last Christmas Eve, their daughter, our niece, told us all that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was so awful. She has survived a bilateral mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She's back at work and doing well. We have so much to be thankful for this year.
If this lock down continues through the holidays, when depression is a problem for a lot of people, I really worry about the collateral damage resulting from our governor's attempt to keep us all "safe."

Spousal Unit Prime has, after 4months, been declared a Long Haul covid patient. She has lung damage . naps all day. massive steroids that totally trashed her diabetes care, night sweats, and the other aches and pains that go along with it. For a period of time she was passing out if she didn't have enough bright light. She would make it from the bathroom and 3/4 around the bed. That was a 2week hospital stay.
He? I already had lung damage (thanks Uncle Sam!) I have fallen into a afternoon nap kinda guy, and pains are why I was retired in the first place. No idea if I ever had C19. We like in the sticks, so 'Social Distancing' is ops normal. I can order anything online for delivery other than liquor...but I brew beer so it's all good.

#2 and #7 are right on. Virtually everyone under 50 survives quite well. If all of them got it , they couldn't pass it on and that reduces those of us at risks chances of getting it and the whole country can fully open at maybe less risk than there is with the regular flu.

What a load of crap. 1% of the population is “at risk” - the rest of us are going to be fine. If you’re afraid, stay home; everybody else should be left alone to pursue their lives without wearing some useless mask.

Experts, schmexperts. I'm sick of having the Leftist media cite unspecified 'experts' as if every knee should bend at the word. Everybody is an expert at something.

We're being punished because we did not cheer the enemedia's coronation of King Joe. These folks haven't come close to seeing resistance. I'm a "vulnerable" person and have been mask free, except for visits to a friend with cancer. I've been milking the "medical exemption" for all its worth. For once I'm on the happy side of stupid Leftist rules. I'm a free citizen, Trump is my President and will be for the next 8 years.

And, we have the example of our President, in the "vulnerable" category (we remember Pelosi's snide 'concern" about POTUS's "co-morbidities"), who benefitted from the fruit of some of his own Covid Task Force's tremendous efforts to produce effective therapeutics! Emergency and critical care equipment was produced "warp speed" to distribute to hospitals here and then around the world as needed.
Worldwide, we are not in the position we were when China let loose the covid-19 pandemic. We have medical equipment including inhalators, and we have effective therapeutics, all of this thanks in very large part to President Trump's Covid Task Force efforts and exhortations. The media have reported as little as possible about this; President Trump gets almost no credit. In fact, the media have done everything possible to diminish Trump's amazing feats. And, truth is, he didn't promote it very well, either... he assumed that people knew the facts, but that we needed to move on from the "crisis" --now quite well managed, including the enormous increase in testing which reveals positive, but minimally, if at all, symptomatic cases-- so that people could resume LIVING their lives.
Medical technocrats are rubbing their hands in anticipatory glee that they have got a wonderful magic potion of control, and that is DISEASE. Beware their hinting at needing to attack annual influenza pandemics on a grander scale. This whole scenario has delighted rulers with totalitarian impulses. Blend the totalitarians with medical technocrats with Big Media as imparter of all information, and you've got a true disaster looming over us all.
Finally, there's the anticipated panacea, a vaccine. President Trump said a vaccine would be produced soon, but here we have the amazing success of Operation Warp Speed to develop vaccines --it's premature! wait! Demigod Dems are supposed to do this!. Nevertheless, here it is, as Big Media try now to deflect credit away from the Trump Admin to Biden & Co. We ought not forget that these are the people who said it couldn't be done and if it could it wouldn't be available for more than a year. All the while, Biden has kept his almost religious seclusion, his hermitage. In stark contrast is the President who could have been felled by The Covid but survived and even seems to have emerged extraordinarily more invigorated, strong, can boogaloo with the best of them!
Biden confronting a "humanitarian disaster"? Biden might just be that humanitarian disaster.
I can not believe the American people could be so stupid as to elect Biden, a slug who emerged from his basement from time to time to baffle those who want and need rationality rather than the man who has never hidden from any challenge, including The Covid.

Still more US pneumonia deaths this year than Coronavirus deaths. And even now, with this "record outbreak", deaths have remained at about the same level they have been since July -- meaning the survival rate is soaring.

The sky is falling? No one seems to notice. Stopped in a grocery store earlier. Lots of masked people shopping but otherwise business as usual. The one-way arrows on the floor have long since worn away. Grocery carts no longer being wiped down. T-paper aisle was stacked to the max.
