The coronavirus struck the United States earlier this year with devastating force. In April, it killed more than 10,000 people in New York City. By early May, nearly 50,000 nursing home residents and their caregivers across the country had died. But as the virus continued its rampage over the summer and fall, infecting nearly 8.5 million Americans, survival rates, even of seriously ill patients, appeared to be improving. At one New York hospital system where 30 percent of coronavirus patients died in March, the death rate had dropped to 3 percent by the end of June. Doctors in England observed

So, why is there a second round of COVID panic? Could it be the election?

Why, #1? Because COVID statistics are porn for libtards. You can just see the media doing their best Toobin imitation as they giddily report the latest data. That said, it's true that people aren't dying from COVID like they did at the beginning. We know how to treat it, we know to take special precautions to shield the elderly and the gravely ill. Most everyone else is capable of weathering the storm. I say it's time we start approaching it like we used to with Chicken Pox - everyone get exposed, feel like crap for a few days, then move on with our lives.

I have been tracking our local numbers since this started. This is a trend I noted last month.
Fatalities per month:
April, 22
May, 37
June, 42
July, 80
August, 42
Sept, 38
Oct, 25 so far
But our case counts are as high or higher than they were in July when deaths peaked. The panic is manufactured. It is still the vulnerable with comorbidities dying but at a much lower rate since the medical.community is getting up to speed and how to treat patients.
What I find puzzling is the absence of the seasonal flu this year.

That's exactly the point #3. Can you believe their numbers?? I do not. Anyone could have predicted this new wave of infections by fall. Of course the media was going to make sure it happened. But no mention of the flu at all. According to CDC numbers, 40-60 million Americans are infected with the flu annually. Evidently, Covid has cured the flu.

Time to move on. Toss the contaminated masks everyone is wearing over and over in the trash, open business's and get on with making America great, and getting back to a strong Trump economy.

decreased use of ventilators may be part of the decline in deaths.
And the annual flu season is just starting up. so we have yet seen what is happening with that other gift from China.

Even NYT can't hide that medical treatments for Wuhan flu are dramatically more effective now than they were just a few months back.

The Left's penchant for fatality #'s dates back to the Vietnam War's nightly body count. They have no issue with using family's loved ones as a political tool.

The medical community has learned quite a bit about how to treat this virus over the last six months. Plus, the virus has weakened and many people have built up a natural resistance to this virus which many medical people stated would happen way back in April. Even those over 70 with secondary medical conditions are dealing with this virus much better than before. All of this flies in the face of demosluts blaming Trump for his response to the virus. Trump took the advice of the medical community. As time moved on, we've come to see that the medical experts were clueless about this virus, and even today many continue to stick to their first impressions never admitting they were wrong about this Chinese virus back in March.

Covid death rates plummet; influenza non-existent; experts puzzled. Different day, same old stuff.

Don't mistake this pivot from the New York Slimes. They are prepping the way for a Biden victory and the "disappearance" of covid.

Tell that to the hand-wringing investors in the stock market who dump their shares as soon as the next panic-saturated announcement comes out of the CDC and the Fauci camp. Luckily I'm invested in Asia where they understand what "long term" means.

#3, you now see exactly why they no longer write news stories about "Deaths", but write news stories about "Cases".
Deaths from Wuhan flu are rapidly declining as docs have learned to treat it more effectively, and as new treatments come on line. THAT isn't good for the Enemedia's goals of scaring folks and blaming the President. If people knew that "Wuhan deaths are dropping rapidly"....they might think that the President had done a good job, and the Enemedia MUST stop any ideas like that.
So they report "Cases", never "Deaths" these days.

This should be VERY good news, but they just can't help themselves by wanting to talk about it as if 8.5 million people are actively sick with the virus and about to die.
FTA: At one New York hospital system where 30 percent of coronavirus patients died in March, the death rate had dropped to 3 percent by the end of June.
Again, this should be considered good news, and a hat-tip to medical professionals.

We live in a good sized city with a major hospital and medical center that has been on the tip of the medical spear as far as treating COVID patients are concerned. The other day a person in the know told me that on that date the medical center had 38 ventilators in operation with 6 of them assisting COVID patients. Chances are the therapeutics are much advanced over back last winter keeping most COVID patients off ventilators, along with the fact that the virus may be losing some of its potency, but who knows?

I follow the numbers for Virginia, specifically the moving average for cases and deaths. At the peak, the moving average for deaths was 40, in early May. In mid-October, it was 8 -- a drop of 80%.
As of today, the drop is even lower, but I hesitate to use today's numbers because of a possible lag in reporting of cases and deaths.
Obviously, we are looking at a disease that is largely treatable thanks to the products made available by the pharmaceutical sector and the efforts of the scientific community to find solutions. Of course there is still the problem of residual symptoms, and I don't want to minimize that.
BTW, I have yet to see a headline about the successes in treatment in the Virginia press. Can anyone find one for me?

It's not hard to figure out. Early on they weren't sure how to treat the virus, and most who died had underlying conditions. No mention of King Quomo dumping COVID patients into the nursing homes though.
