Don’t expect Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and Knott’s Berry Farm to open anytime soon, according to California Gov. Gavin Newsom at a press conference Wednesday. He said there is “no hurry in putting out guidelines,” but state officials are continuing to work with amusement parks in California after the pandemic prompted closures in March. He called the process “very complex,” adding, “We don’t anticipate, in the immediate term, any of these larger theme parks opening until we see more stability in terms of the data.” Newsom also revealed, following reports last week that Disney executive chairman Bob Iger had stepped

When asked why, he replied “I’ve no desire to go to your dreadful little amusement park crawling with dispicables. I don’t even own stock in disney. Mother! Mother! [speaking to someone off camera] My bath is tepid!”

Yeah Gavin- Ask Gretchen Whitmer about that 'data' and 'science'. With any luck, neither of you will be re-elected.

If Gavin had been born in Germany in1920 he would have wound up running a concentration camp... and enjoyed it. Who doubts it?

My son, who lives in San Diego, works on the technical side of the entertainment industry. He hasn’t worked since March, with no end in sight. I’m surprised that, in a state run by unions, the unions are allowing this to continue. Sooner or later, those union unemployment coffers are going to run dry. My guess is that the unions are being paid off with promises of government money that doesn’t exist.

I'm sure if they could places like Disneyland would move. We'll see what happens after the election in 3 weeks, things may change.

I strongly suspect that the Big Operators ( Disney, etc.) gave willingly to Newsom's campaign, but history repeats itself as the Commiecrats eat their own. I am surprised that the entertainment unions haven't yet shown compromising pictures of Newsom with farm animals.

#6, California is owned and operated by the public sector employee unions, who aren’t missing any paychecks. And they assume that next year President Harris will sign legislation providing bailouts to underfunded state pensions, so their good times will continue to roll at the expense of the rest of us. Most Private sector unions officially support Democrats as well of course, but burning them will not upset the Democrat lock on state government.

It couldn't happen to a nicer company! If any company deserves this it's Disney. Since Newsom is on the same side as Disney politically, it should be easy for Disney to understand. They should sit back and enjoy the time off and relax.

Newsome until after the election results are in to open anything. A lot of the Covid virus fear will disappear and the "science" will magically change to where it is safe to reopen things and restart having a normal life.

Talk about stupid. In that one statement he just lost future donations from some mighty rich people and the superstars in hollywood who can no longer show their pretty faces on the screen except for reruns. Nice move, Guv. That was even dumber than ordering people to put their masks on in restaurants between every bite and threatening people who move out of California with another ten years of absentee taxation. You are quite the doofus. I wonder which of the low-IQ democrat governors will have the distinction of being impeached first, Newsom, Whitmer, Cuomo, Inslee, Pritzker, Wolf or Northam.

#5 I know people would lose their jobs, but the disgusting list you printed is a good reason for them to go bankrupt.

Disney is the largest single employer in the state and many of those workers are unionized. That they're taking this lying down makes absolutely no sense at all. The president of the Anaheim chamber of commerce said the other day that the total number of employees (hotels, restaurants, suppliers, other services) impacted by the park's closure is over 300,000.

Right on, #18. The City of Anaheim is nearly 80% tourist industry related. Convention Centers, ball parks, hotels, restaurants, caterers, etc., have sat idle since the first of March. Disney has more then helped that particular community thrive since the 50’s.
Interesting to see what Iger does. He has a functioning park system in Orlando, which seems to be doing well. It would be sad to see them mothball Disneyland, but it’s a strange year.

Theme parks are fun, sometimes, and expensive. They are not, however, essential. Like the Nat. Thug Leagues, without them, life goes on. Grocers, farmers, truck drivers, oil field hands, shelf stockers, etc. are the essentials. For me, nothing Disney is essential.

Just wait until it is time for figuring out the next budget, and the revenue office tells him that Cali is in a very deep hole with no money. I always thought Gray Davis and Moonbeam were bad governors, but this guy is Obama level bad.

Doesn't matter who wins. Several states are still going to show up on the Fed's 'doorstep' demanding ( they are long past 'asking' ) a few truckloads of money to 'help them out of this 'disaster' - a disaster that, to a large degree' they created !!!
Any bets on who gets OUR money or what it actually is spent on ??
I'll lay odds that some of the states will actually SUE the federal government to get money. OUR moey. And it will be used to secure MORE votes
in the future. The way the Democrats have operated FOR DECADES !!!!

I read that Disney already owns enough vacant land around Disney World to put in 1 or 2 new theme parks. Why not move Disneyland there? They could call it Retro Disney World. It would be nostalgic. And it would pay all those lovely taxes to Florida.

#22, yes, agreed.....but to the people who work there, and the supporting companies (restaurants, bars, hotels, etc) those are people's jobs, people's livelihoods. One poster says 300,000 jobs depend on Disney in that one city.
Will even one of them switch parties and vote Trump because of this? If it is 10% of those 300K who change political views, I think I would be surprised, but, I really don't know.
