ORLANDO, Fla. — Squeezed by limits on attendance at its theme parks and other restrictions due to the pandemic, The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday it planned to lay off 28,000 workers in its parks division in California and Florida. Two-thirds of the planned layoffs involve part-time workers but they ranged from salaried employees to hourly workers, Disney officials said. Disney’s parks closed last spring as the pandemic started spreading in the U.S. The Florida parks reopened this summer, but the California parks have yet to reopen as the company awaits guidance from the state of California. I really hate to see people lose their jobs. Most if not all of the individuals who will suffer for this have had no input, influence or hand in the left leanings of this company. That is done at a pay grade that will not be affected by this move !
By the same token, you are waiting for GUIDANCE from the sate of California ??? You may as well consult your Magic 8 Ball. The people you're waiting on couldn't run a temperature let alone run a state.
Open back up, tell them to go to .............. you know where. These edicts from governors, bureaucrats, loud mouths and jerks are not laws, at least in most cases if not all cases. It's all a bluff and some good ol' fashion guts, push backs and refusal to submit is what's needed.
Sweet smokin' Geronimo - wake up and tell them NO. Otherwise were going to waiting for 'guidance' wearing masks and hiding under our beds 10 YEARS from now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, but when news came out a few months ago saying they'd lost $5 billion dollars, they just shrugged and said no problem. Yeah, right.

Part time jobs anyway. Look at the airlines and be concerned there, AssPress.

Horrible corporation. I remember when they banned mustaches on their employees. Do they Still own the All Bull Crop TV network? The worst. Im glad my sons never asked me to take them to Disneyland.

Mr Disney must be rolling over in his grave with the liberal direction of his company.

When I was a kid I loved Disney.
Now I hate how it has destroyed all my favorite characters & films.
I hope it goes bankrupt so others can buy up the film properties & bring them back to life as they were.

I am sorry so many under 18, under paid and over worked young people will be out of a job. The only upside is the demise of a once great company and very nice theme park. Oh well, maybe they can throw up some cheap government housing on the land. I hope Epcot buns to the ground.

We took our kids to both California and Florida when they were young. It was a lot of fun.
Since then, the Disney Company kowtowed to the gay-stappo, and, as is always the case, the gay-stappo ruins everything they touch!!!
Never again!!! Just shut them down!!! Disney just employees a bunch of foreign nationals anyway, so it's not like it would effect employment for many Americans!!!

Don't you worry. Those in FL will get the extra $600 in unemployment and earn more off the job.
One laughed about their pay-cation.

Is Disney going to lay off only the American citizens so when they ramp up again so they'll only hire illegals like they did before?

I visited DisneyLand in the late 60's....enjoyed it. I visited Disney Wolrd in the 70's. Disney, under it's current leadership certainly has taken the most fun out of both parks. Walt would not have allowed less than family values over run his pride and joy. Sad.

They are the tip of the iceberg. Without visitors to these theme parks, the entire hospitality industry in the greater Anaheim and Orlando areas are and will be in a depression that affects everything from home values to the sustainability of local vendors and suppliers of every description.
