ORLANDO, Fla. — Squeezed by limits on attendance at its theme parks and other restrictions due to the pandemic, The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday it planned to lay off 28,000 workers in its parks division in California and Florida. Two-thirds of the planned layoffs involve part-time workers but they ranged from salaried employees to hourly workers, Disney officials said. Disney’s parks closed last spring as the pandemic started spreading in the U.S. The Florida parks reopened this summer, but the California parks have yet to reopen as the company awaits guidance from the state of California. Comments:

The park in California is still shut down. They are waiting for ''guidance'' from the government - LOL.

I really hate to see people lose their jobs. Most if not all of the individuals who will suffer for this have had no input, influence or hand in the left leanings of this company. That is done at a pay grade that will not be affected by this move ! By the same token, you are waiting for GUIDANCE from the sate of California ??? You may as well consult your Magic 8 Ball. The people you're waiting on couldn't run a temperature let alone run a state. Open back up, tell them to go to .............. you know where. These edicts from governors, bureaucrats, loud mouths and jerks are not laws, at least in most cases if not all cases. It's all a bluff and some good ol' fashion guts, push backs and refusal to submit is what's needed. Sweet smokin' Geronimo - wake up and tell them NO. Otherwise were going to waiting for 'guidance' wearing masks and hiding under our beds 10 YEARS from now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry so many under 18, under paid and over worked young people will be out of a job. The only upside is the demise of a once great company and very nice theme park. Oh well, maybe they can throw up some cheap government housing on the land. I hope Epcot buns to the ground.

We took our kids to both California and Florida when they were young. It was a lot of fun. Since then, the Disney Company kowtowed to the gay-stappo, and, as is always the case, the gay-stappo ruins everything they touch!!! Never again!!! Just shut them down!!! Disney just employees a bunch of foreign nationals anyway, so it's not like it would effect employment for many Americans!!!

The pundit class really, really hated the first presidential debate of the 2020 election. They hated it so much, in fact, that many of them don’t want to see another one for the remainder of the election cycle. "Tonight was the first presidential debate of the 2020 election, and if there is any sense or mercy left in this nation, it will be the last, too," writes the Atlantic’s David Graham. If the Commission on Presidential Debates “really wishes to benefit the American electorate,” he adds, “it should cancel the rest of the debate season.” “Cancel the remaining presidential debates.

Beijing — At least 5,000 pets were found dead in cardboard shipping boxes last week at a logistics facility in Central China, likely casualties of a miscommunication in the supply chain of China's thriving mass-breeding industry. Only a couple hundred animals were saved, and authorities have launched an investigation into the grim discovery in Henan Province, a local animal rescue group told CBS News on Wednesday. "The station was cluttered with express boxes with thousands of animals that had already died, and the entire place reeks of rotting bodies," said Sister Hua, the founder of animal rescue group Utopia. A little thing like a pandemic isn’t going to keep the liberal municipal governments of many cities from continuing to prosecute their war on the gig economy, and that’s clearly true in Seattle. Despite having plenty of more pressing issues to address, with all of the rioting and looting going on, the City Council voted unanimously this week to enforce a new “pay formula” for drivers of ride-sharing companies to ensure that they receive the $16.39 per hour pay rate as regular full-time workers in the city. And the “formula” they’ve cooked up to do this is nothing but a

American Muslims took to Twitter to praise Democratic nominee Joe Biden after he used the Arabic word “inshallah,” during a discussion on President Trump’s tax returns in the candidates’ first presidential debate Tuesday night. The remark came after the debate moderator, Fox News’ Chris Wallace, asked Trump to comment on recent New York Times reporting that the president paid only $750 in federal income taxes per year in 2016 and 2017. “I’ve paid millions of dollars, and you’ll get to see it,” Trump said, implying that his tax returns would eventually be made available to the public. “When?” Biden asked.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill Tuesday that seeks to protect mountain lions and other wildlife from being poisoned by a popular form of pesticide. The move raises questions about how the state will manage its growing urban rat population, which some experts say is surging due to the spread of homeless camps across California. One of Eastern Europe’s longest frozen conflicts has exploded into a hot war in recent days, with clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh killing dozens of people and threatening to drag nearby Turkey and Russia into a direct military confrontation. While Moscow has long backed Christian Armenia and Ankara has openly supported the largely Muslim Azerbaijan, regional analysts say the situation has grown more complex and dangerous recently amid escalating Turkey-Russia tension on other fronts — from Syria to Libya and the wider Eastern Mediterranean. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has also become increasingly tied to Moscow-Ankara

Chris Wallace’s overt defense of Joe Biden throughout the debate on Tuesday night was so obvious, so blatant, he should be proscribed from ever “moderating” a debate again. Wallace’s performance was as Biden’s protector, his advocate, and that is undeniable. He stepped in at every moment Biden seemed lost: court-packing, lack of support of law enforcement, and Hunter’s criminality. The debate was so poorly managed. The questions were designed to aid Biden, to coddle him. No wonder Trump felt duty-bound to interrupt. Trump was debating both Wallace and Biden and only one of them is sentient.

Many people have cited memorable lines from the contentious political slugfest, but the lines that stand out to me are the grotesquely disrespectful ad hominem insults Biden directed at the president of the United States.
