Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez only got a minute to speak at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night but she made it count as a warning that Joe Biden not ignore the party’s far-left wing, nominating socialist Bernie Sanders and making no mention of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. “I hereby second the nomination for Senator Bernard Sanders of Vermont for President of the United States of America,” the New York Democratic socialist said at the end of her 60-second address. In her socialist rhetoric-heavy address, she spoke about Sanders’ movement to “repair the wounds of racial injustice, colonization, misogyny and homophobia”

A number of companies based in downtown Portland are set to vacate or sell their offices because on-going protests in the city against police brutality have led to 'unsafe' conditions in the area, reports suggest. Activists have taken to the city streets for the last 82 consecutive nights to demonstrate under the banner of Black Lives Matter, but some of the rallies have descended into chaos, resulting in violent clashes with police or widespread acts of vandalism. NPC International Inc., the largest franchise operator for Plano-based Pizza Hut, announced on Monday that it will close as many as 300 Pizza Huts. The decision was made after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July, when shutdowns related to the coronavirus pandemic challenged its businesses.A statement from Kansas-based NPC says it has not picked which restaurants will close, or when. NPC operates 1,227 Pizza Hut franchises, or about 18% of Pizza Hut’s 6,700 stores. NPC also operates just under 400 Wendy’s stores.A “substantial majority” of the Pizza Huts that are closing are dine-in restaurants, the statement says.

I regret to inform you that former President Bill Clinton is slated to speak tonight at the Democratic National Convention. It’s easy enough to imagine a political reality where Clinton speaking in some capacity made sense; we had such a world as recently as a few years ago. But we don’t anymore. It is 2020. We are bruised from old intraparty battles, deep in a slow-motion election crisis, economically ravaged, and in a pandemic. The conventional wisdom won’t do. Obsolescence comes for us all in a variety of ways, and come it has for Clinton, a man whose irrelevance to the present moment is as extraordinary

Wall Street clawed back the last of the historic, frenzied losses unleashed by the new coronavirus, as the S&P 500 closed at an all-time high Tuesday.
The day’s move was a relatively mild one, nudging the index up 7.79 points, or 0.2%, to 3,389.78. That eclipses the S&P 500′s previous record closing high of 3,386.15, which was set Feb. 19, before the pandemic shut down businesses around the world and knocked economies into their worst recessions in decades.
The S&P 500′s milestone caps a furious, 51.5% rally that began in late March.

Best of all, Woods had a front row seat while serving as his son's looper for the day. Night one of the virtual Democratic National Convention descended into cringeworthiness on multiple occasions. It featured awkward State-of-the-Union response-style political speeches, interspersed with musical interludes and glorified Zoom meetings. It was emceed by a Hollywood celebrity, at times giving off major telethon vibes. I can't imagine a normal human voluntarily tuning in at the beginning of the program and making it through the entire two hours. But if Republicans are tempted to point and laugh, they should humbly recall that their turn comes next week, and the strange, unprecedented format likely won't be any easier for them. Though John Lennon had informed his bandmates months earlier that he was leaving the group, the breakup of the Beatles did not become official until April 10, 1970, when Paul McCartney issued a press release stating he was no longer working with the fabulous foursome.
That release came after a whirlwind year in 1969 that saw McCartney, Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr record Abbey Road, which contains the final occasion all four members recorded together with its closing song, “The End,” and also Let It Be, the band’s final record, while also being filmed during rehearsals

Illustrating the self-promotional flair that propelled him to national prominence in the first place, Donald Trump is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment Tuesday with a presidential pardon for the ages.
“Later today, I will be signing a full and complete pardon for Susan B. Anthony,” he told reporters at the White House. “She was never pardoned. What took so long?”
Whatever one thinks of President Trump, this is genius. And though Trump may have only recently learned that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, his musings about America’s most influential 19th century suffragist link him directly to the Grand Old Party’s crusading roots.

Santa Clara, Calif. – The freak weather plaguing California took a strange twist in the wind this week, as a mysterious circle of black smoke wafted over the South Bay. Shocked residents captured it on video as heavy thunderstorms bombarded the Bay Area. Such a rare phenomenon usually takes place over active volcanoes, which can eject smoky vortexes of steam and gas, sometimes as wide as 600 feet in diameter. The cause of this smoke circle remains unknown. However, it was associated with a powerful lightning bolt that struck moments before next to Levi Stadium, home of the 49ers.

The only effective solution to bridging America’s seemingly insurmountable partisan divide is as simple as it is controversial: We need a renewed American nationalism. Nationalism? The very word no doubt triggers the protesters pulling down our founders’ statues. They’re certain that progress demands weakening our allegiance to the nation, not tying ourselves closer to it. They want less America, not more. Revolutionaries rarely stop for reality checks; this is the responsibility of conservatives. Since Edmund Burke first warned about the excesses of the French Revolution, conservative thinkers have reminded us that human beings are fallen creatures. We are selfish and tribal.

According to Jill Biden’s first husband, Bill Stevenson, the story she and her present husband, prospective Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, tell of how they met after she divorced Stevenson is not true. Stevenson claims Joe Biden was having an affair with his wife while she was still married to Stevenson.
In 2008, The New York Times reported on how Joe Biden explained meeting his present wife Jill: Senator Joseph R. While most of the other speakers had been boring, I will grant you she wasn’t boring. What she was was insufferable, not to mention deceitful, trying to pitch that she was “going high.” She’s very much like her husband. It sounds nice, but then when you start looking at it, you see all the issues.
She started off insulting the American voters who elected Donald Trump, implying that he only won because some people didn’t think their votes mattered.

Barack Obama is very careful about some things. He makes sure his political allies know that his legacy has to be protected.(Snip)So, when a POLITICO Magazine piece comes along and attacks his Vice President, Joe Biden, as incompetent and a joke, and the quotes are all coming from former Obama staff and aides, you know that this is deliberate. There is a reason this piece and these attacks see the light of day: Because Obama wants them to.

News reports have downplayed the significance of former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith’s guilty plea, acknowledging he altered an official document in the government’s Trump-Russia collusion probe. There has been some coverage, mainly because it is so rare to see FBI agents charged with a felony and because it is the first tangible result of U.S. Attorney John Durham’s sprawling investigation of the investigators. But mainstream news outlets have minimized its importance. It’s only one count, they say, and it deals with a relatively minor crime by a mid-level figure.
That’s spin, and it’s wrong.

Democrats and the media are meddling in our elections again. But this is getting absurd.

Last night was one of those nights I was glad to have other commitments. The “virtual” DNC occurred last night, and if the highlights are any indication, it was an absolutely cluster of awkwardness. In the same hour you had John Kasich proclaim that Joe Biden wouldn’t govern as a left-winger, Bernie Sanders took the stage and presented Biden as a puppet for his revolution. There was no congruent message except the orange man being bad, which culminated in a dark, fear packed speech by Michelle Obama, or at least that’s what it would be called if Trump gave a similar presentation.Going back to John Kasich though, he meandered

Addressing the virtual Democratic National Convention on Monday night in support of Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy, Sen. Flagged with a screaming siren on the Drudge Report early in the afternoon of September 9 that year, it was historic in a number of respects. It may even have affected the outcome of the 2004 election and saved us from a John Kerry presidency. Writing from memory, I think it had more than 250,000 readers by the end of the day. Hence its long-running nickname – The Ninth Circus Court of Appeals.
Despite claims to the contrary by the Leftist “fact-checkers” – the Ninth is the most overturned federal court of appeals in the country. Because its judges so often ignore the law – and instead impose their own Leftist personal policy preferences.

In somewhat of a shocker, the leftists did a video montage of the preamble to to the Constitution, followed by the National Anthem. I’m curious about two things….how long it took the leftists to find the words…and how many kneeled.

According to reports in November of 2019, U.S Attorney John Durham and U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr were spending time on a narrowed focus looking carefully at CIA activity in the 2016 presidential election. One recent quote from a media-voice increasingly sympathetic to a political deep-state notes:

The socialist hootenanny, also known as 2020’s virtual Democratic National Convention, is now one installment into its miserable four-day run. What have we learned so far?
While delegates and speakers are in remote locations, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez is in Milwaukee, the site he personally chose for the convention. It is wholly suitable for the event. The Wisconsin city might be the most socialist municipality in America.
“Milwaukee is the only large American city to have elected socialist mayors – and kept them in power for almost 40 years,” says WTTW, a public (of course) television station in Chicago.

The Democratic Party kicked off its presidential convention on Monday — with one caveat. Instead of meeting in person in Milwaukee as they had originally planned, Democrats opted for a virtual, four-night event due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
Given the significant risks associated with large gatherings right now, the Democratic National Committee made the right call. But it could have at least prepared a better production than what we’re seeing right now. Because it’s difficult to imagine voters lasting through two hours of this stuff, let alone eight hours over four nights.
The convention began with the National Anthem, sung virtually by singers whose faces twirled and rotated

Joe Biden selected a running mate based on the color of her skin. He rejected other candidates based on the color of their skin. He did this openly and without apology.

The debate over schools reopening has affected how Americans view teachers’ unions. It has been well-publicized that the unions in many districts have submitted political demands that have little to do with pandemic safety as a condition of returning to the classroom.
None of the political demands have anything to do with educating children, either. One of the requirements, defunding the police, has actually been getting children killed in cities like New York City, Chicago, and Atlanta. Perhaps the most annoying displays were members of the teachers’ unions protesting school openings in large groups while maintaining that returning to the classroom is too dangerous.

T he Democrats’ pundit class has a Joe Biden agenda problem. On the one hand, they are devoted to reassuring centrist voters that Biden is a soothing moderate because of things he did decades ago (say, the 1994 crime bill), because he talked down some of the most ridiculous of the left wing’s policy proposals (notably “Medicare for All”) in the primary, or because he does not speak the language of the woke “defund the police” faction. In composing my new book, Unmasking Obama: The Fight to Tell the True Story of a Failed Presidency, I thought hard about whether I should address the question of Barack Obama's sexuality.
Two considerations persuaded me to pursue the issue. One was the no-holds-barred media treatment of the sex life, real and imagined, of Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. The second was the fact that despite Obama's early feint to the center, his presidency was something of a golden age for gay America. A May 2012 Newsweek cover story, in fact, dubbed Obama "the first gay president."

BUXTON, N.C. — The English colonists who settled the so-called Lost Colony before disappearing from history simply went to live with their native friends — the Croatoans of Hatteras, according to a new book.
“They were never lost,” said Scott Dawson, who has researched records and dug up artifacts where the colonists lived with the Indians in the 16th century. “It was made up. The mystery is over.”
Dawson has written a book, published in June, that details his research. It is called “The Lost Colony and Hatteras Island,” and echos many of the sentiments he has voiced for years.
