Marks & Spencer has apologised after it was accused of "covert racism" over its bra colours. Kusi Kimani, 29, from East Sussex, was shocked when she discovered a brown bra on the retailer's website was called "tobacco". The lighter colours of the £12 Marks & Spencer Collection padded bras are described as "cinnamon" and "fudge". Ms Kimani complained about the bra for her skin tone carrying negative connotations, while more positive words were used for lighter colours. Yet two months on from her initial complaint, the bra is still being sold in a "tobacco" colour on the Marks & Spencer

Quite a stretch to find 'covert racism'. Designers have all kinds of odd names for black and brown which could be investigated for racism.

FTA: "It's hurtful to me and my friends. If a young girl who is already uncomfortable with the colour of her skin (sees it) she will be feeling even more alienated. "Each week that website is showing that racism is another week a young girl may come across it and feel bad for the rest of her life." Oh, please. Any young girl who is permanently traumatized by the name of a color of a bra has bigger problems than seeing covert racism here.

Oh, good grief! Fashion has long talked of Tobacco Brown, a brown with a bronze or yellowish cast. Usually used to describe shoes or outerwear. The irony is that these bras were intended for various shades of black skin. Worn under a garment that is not entirely opaque, they would disappear, unlike a white or pink bra against dark skin.

If you spend your time looking at bras that don't even belong to you and complain about the names they are called just so you could cry out RACISM you need therapy. Tobacco smells wonderful (do not smoke), cinnamond does amazing things for apple pie (I do eat pie) and chocolate, well we all know about chocolate (However, I do not like dark chocolate - so is that racist?). I love watching the reruns of Criminal Minds and especially chuckle about the relationship between Penelope and Morgan. Their banter is quite amusing. But I assume that is racist too. Come on man, get a life and leave the rest of us alone.

Second only to New Jersey in deaths per capita from the coronavirus, New York has suffered more than 32,000 deaths from the pandemic overall, roughly 20,000 more than any other state in the union. And unlike other states, New York's horrific death toll can be attributed to two specific decisions: first, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's refusal to shut down the New York City subway system, which functioned as a petri dish of the pandemic and became a main vector of its spread, and second, his disastrous nursing home directive which forced facilities to readmit patients who tested positive for the virus

The small real-world study, which has not been peer-reviewed, is among the first in humans to suggest a link between neutralising antibodies -- those that stop the virus latching onto host cells -- and protection from infection. Researchers from the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle screened 120 of 122 people before they boarded the fishing vessel in May

In composing my new book, Unmasking Obama: The Fight to Tell the True Story of a Failed Presidency, I thought hard about whether I should address the question of Barack Obama's sexuality. Two considerations persuaded me to pursue the issue. One was the no-holds-barred media treatment of the sex life, real and imagined, of Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. The second was the fact that despite Obama's early feint to the center, his presidency was something of a golden age for gay America.
