News reports have downplayed the significance of former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith’s guilty plea, acknowledging he altered an official document in the government’s Trump-Russia collusion probe. There has been some coverage, mainly because it is so rare to see FBI agents charged with a felony and because it is the first tangible result of U.S. Attorney John Durham’s sprawling investigation of the investigators. But mainstream news outlets have minimized its importance. It’s only one count, they say, and it deals with a relatively minor crime by a mid-level figure.
That’s spin, and it’s wrong.

I hope so. But don't think so. At least not before Nov 3.

Not if his punishment is only a few months in a country club. Give him serious time in the general population and pathologic anxiety of dropping the soap - then he'll sing loudly.

There's no upside for the coup plotters to turn states evidence until election day is past. If Creepy Uncle Joe wins, they all get the Presidential Medal of Honor. If Trump wins, well, they'll be jostling to get those very limited get out of jail free cards.

He has been given a very light sentence for one reason. He is expected to give a road map to the kingdom of The cia fbi. If he tells a lie or is shown not to have been honest in his answers the plea deal is no longer in effect. And a long prison sentence will be his reward.
Never forget we are at the point in this investigation that the good guys know the answer before they ask the question. And for a prosecutor that is a great place to be.

If Durham's the Tough Cookie, so to speak, as he's portrayed, then multiple Shoes are still to drop in his investigations, if not: Same Old Same Old Crap!

It is quite possible that Mr. Clinesmith has been assured that he will be a rich man and his family will be taken care of lavishly in return for taking the fall as a rogue rather than following direction from above, well above. Unless the consequences can possibly offset the package deal this could be all that comes out of the entire damned coup.

FTA: "Were all the lies and misinformation a concerted effort, a true criminal conspiracy?"
That's the $64 question. It seems it would be impossible that this coup was not a conspiracy. It had to be with the number of people in various offices and agencies working in apparent concert. Now, to "prove beyond a reasonable doubt".

As poster #1 said, while a few more dominoes may fall before then, they are all going to hold out as long as they possibly can, and give Durham no more than they absolutely have to based on the evidence he has against them until after the election. If Biden wins, they all clam up and get off. If Trump wins they may start falling all over themselves to pin the blame on someone higher up.

The only way he's going to squeal is if you assure him he'll do long, hard time if he doesn't, like they did with the Mob with the RICO Act.

Seems to me that since he has already been given a light sentence, he's already spilled the beans.

You bet. I predict that he is going to sing so that his sentence is reduced.

I'm with #4.
I don't believe Durham is handing out the immunity deals that Cheryl Mills and others received for nothing of any consequence as far as information.
And, they now know much more than was available due to the obstruction of the Mueller investigation that created the cover, and the hope of running out the clock of a Trump administration.

The prosecutors may want more evidence to charge the bigger political fish but the pressure on the small fish grows the larger the ultimate target. For example, if someone caught at a criminal act had evidence of Biden's Ukraine action, there would be enormous pressure on them to stay silent and rewards if they do. If they were to give up Biden, their lives would be over. They would be dead to anyone associated with the dem party. No cushy media job. No legal firm opportunities. No public jobs. Skills they had built would be useless. It will be very hard to flip such people. Flipping against a Strzok, maybe. Against a Biden, not likely. Too bad but that is power politics.
